The people there are very knowledgeable and the prices are reasonable on the raw materials, and sometimes better than some of the larger stores like Lowes and Menards. For the small garden stuff, they have a very nice gift store as well, although sometimes I found their selection somewhat limited.

I contacted Swegles Quality Handyman Service through YELP for a quote. A Matt Swegle came out July 9th, 2026 to measure and check the job out. I told Mr. Swegle that Barry County Lumber, the local lumber and hardware store, had the railing I wanted for $90 plus wall fasteners. At no time during my interactions with Mr. Swegle did I say I wanted the 'cheapest railing available.' I said that I wanted a "matching railing with the one I already had installed." Mr. Swegle quoted $365.00 for the job. I had no other quotes for the railing and installation, but I told Mr. Swegle that I considered that quote very high for the work. After Mr. Swegle's employee finished the work, I was surprised and upset to discover an unfinished dowel rod railing installed which did not match the other railing at all. I contacted Mr. Swegle and asked when they were coming to varnish the handrail and finish the job. Mr. Swegle became very angry and proceeded to scream at me over the phone that "You asked for the cheapest!" At no time did I say the words "the cheapest" in regards to the railing. I had asked for "a matching railing" After telling Mr. Swegle this, I was told it would be an additional $50-$100 to return to finish the job and varnish the railing.

I paid him in full in February and at the time they didn't have enough material to finish the gates so they put a different style on. Well they finally came back and installed the correct style once it was back in stock maybe a month later which I was perfectly fine with but they left a bunch of hardware holes in the new panels and posts. I reached out and Wesley said that they would come out and "patch" the holes. Well here I am 4 months later and he has told me multiple times that I would "be on the schedule" multiple weeks and he'd "call his guys". It has been 4 weeks since that communication and he has since blocked me on Facebook messenger and I can no longer see his Facebook page either. I spent 15k on a fence that looks crappy at the most trafficked area that I walk through everyday. I've left multiple texts and phone calls but with 0 response. They also put 2 posts through my irrigation line that I had to dig up and re-route/repair. I also have a cracked post which was from a storm earlier in the year, and when I dug up the post to the right of it I realized why, it had maybe 1/3 bag of concrete in it causing that section to break under compression. If you want to spend thousands of dollars and still have work to do yourself then this is the company for you! He got mad when I reached out to the supplier about warranty on the hardware because it was rusting within a month and found out that he hardware was not from lakeshore vinyl, it was from Lowe's. He said any warranty issues should be done through him but now I have 0 confidence if I ever have a true warranty issue that I will ever get it fixed. Especially because I have no proof of purchase from lakeshore vinyl. Use someone else and pay a little bit more because once the job is "done" don't expect anything else. The grout wasn't sealed. Water didn't bead and soaked right in. The shower control handle was mounted at an angle. I paid him around the 6th of January, he didn't start work until the 20th. There were several delays of wich some were the responsibility of my wife and myself, others were snow, flat tire, had to replace the brakes and had to replace a starter. I had to clean up after his crew everyday. Grout equipment had been cleaned in the bathroom sink causing a clog. He sent someone to run a snake down the pipe and that kid said (after I'd removed the trap and poured out sand) that the pipes were just rusty and it wasn't their fault at all. I had to clean up after him. By February 25, I gave up, sealed the grout, caulked around the shower door, filled in some holes and started working on the drywall. Update, March 7th. Zach was out of town when I posted the review. He did come over, review the room and agree with most of what I pointed out. He will send over folk to complete the bathroom and is being more than fair about it. Don't make the mistakes I made (not contacting him with problems or concerns) and I know you'll be satisfied with his work.

It is March 13, 2026 and they were here again about 2 - 3 weeks ago to fix the soffits again and now with strong winds the large triangle at the peak of my house (Historic Committee said they had to put it up there) has come down. Hoping we don't get rain, because it will probably leak down my walls. My husband left a message, just waiting to see if they call back Monday. Someone from Roach came by today (March 14, 2026) and said that they would put the piece back up. Apparently the crew that put it up in 2023 used nails that was too small.
