They came to the house and worked with me to get the roof done right away . In the end they were able to do the whole roof including replacing some boards as well . They were so easy and great to work with. I got a fantastic price and so I hired them to do the job. I have never regretted hiring them to do the job and they also took the time to completely replace all the gutters too. I recently was told by another company that I was in need of a new roof and probably some boards too. The guy said that I had black mold in my attic as well. The guy was from Top Home Improvements. I had went to the Senior Expo a couple of weeks ago and they had a both there so I signed up to get a quote and roof inspection. I would never ever use that company to do anything on my house ever! The guy outright lied to me and the pictures he said that he showed me indicating that I definitely needed to get my roof replaced and have some other repairs too. In the end I showed everything to the guy from Lysters and he pointed out to me that the first pictures he had taken were of my house but the pictures he showed me of what was supposedly my with damaged shingles and supposedly some soft spots in the roof. Indicating that I also needed some boards replaced too. In the end the guy from Lysters went up on my roof and looked it completely over then said to me your roof is in great shape and he also told me that if I had a leak in the roof causing black mold to grow in there then the water leak would also have gone down to the main level of the house and I would have water spots showing up. I have no water spots anywhere in the upstairs of my home. Once again just proving that I was actually lied to. The great news was I not only didn't need a new roof at all and the one I have now is going to be fine for at least another 10 to probably 15 years. I felt so relieved because the quote from Top Home Improvement was for just under $35,000.00 ! I can assure you that if I ever need work done on my home I will never call anyone but Lyster's to do the job. As for Top Home Improvement I would never use them for any job. I'm just so angry that they outright lied to me and almost cost me a substantial amount of money that was never necessary to spend whatsoever. I guess I would say buyer beware of who you call to do important work on your home. By not getting a second opinion I would have spent a huge amount of money that wasn't really necessary at all. I have also learned that from now on before I hire any company to do work on my home I'll definitely be checking with the Better Business Bureau too. They collect information about all kinds of companies and post the reviews of what other people have had to say about the company.

SG gave us a quote to match the insurance quote, but with an agreement that there would be additional cost to correct the initial poor construction. The day the roof replacement began, pictures were taken and were sent to the insurance company along with an estimate for the work needed for the repairs. SG was successful in soliciting the insurance company to cover all of the repairs, and we ended up with a beautiful new roof. Thank you SG for a job well done. The workers did a great job with minimal disruption. They were friendly, quick and efficient. I recommend SG to anyone needing roof repairs.

After installation, we began experiencing water intrusion issues that were not present before. This…read morewinter did bring more severe ice dams than we have experienced in past years; however, the leakage has occurred only in specific areas of the home. In reviewing those areas, we observed visible gaps between the drip edge and the gutters. Other sections of the home, where the gutter and drip edge align properly, do not show the same issues. The gutter installation appears inconsistent, with some sections installed correctly and others not. When we reported the problem, the company recommended using a roof rake and applying salt to manage ice buildup. This was not something we had ever needed to do previously, but we followed their guidance and took those steps as instructed. We were later told that the gutters were installed "the best they could be" due to existing fascia and rafter conditions, and that wire was used in some locations instead of straps. We were never notified during the installation that these conditions existed, nor were we given the opportunity to discuss alternative solutions or address them at the time. Additionally, we did not receive a post-installation inspection or walkthrough. (Despite requesting one when we received our invoice three or four weeks later.) Had we been informed of the installation challenges or provided a final inspection, we could have addressed concerns earlier and potentially avoided additional damage. We understand our home is older and that renovation projects can uncover unexpected issues. However, clear communication and transparency are especially important in those situations. We chose this company in part because of the many positive reviews and the reputation they have built. We understand that mistakes can happen on any project. What matters most to us is how those issues are communicated and addressed. In this case, we expected the same level of integrity and accountability through challenges as is shown during successful projects. We are sharing this review to provide an honest account of our experience and to encourage clearer communication, transparency around installation challenges, and post-installation inspections for future customers. We were never notified of fascia or gutter issues when we discussed the job nor was it in the estimate or notes. We did discuss the age of the gutters at which point I asked if they should be replaced before or during install and was told no, they wouldn't affect anything. We removed the snow as instructed immediately. We applied salt. We asked up front if the gutters were moved and/or lowered during install and were told yes. And I watched them move them as I was home during the install. We're not asking for much, just accountability and honesty. And the first substantial snowfall in Portage, Michigan was November 29 when we received nine inches. Then into early December. On December 7, we noticed the first leaks and I reached out that day with photos. Nothing was inspected when someone came out after that and we were told to apply salt and rake the roof, which we did. The statement about weeks later is highly inaccurate. And the leak was immediately after, there was no "pulling down" of the gutters.

We called and requested it to be fixed several times but kept getting brushed off. This process lasted two more years until my husband just fixed it himself. Then he fixed the blotches left in our ceiling. We thought that was the end of it and moved on. THEN, we noticed a rotted part of our ceiling in the garage, where the garage meets the house. Again, we attempted to get someone out to fix the leak. we finally did get someone out to look at it on a Wednesday and he called to say someone would be out that Friday to fix it. No one showed Friday. I called the following Monday to find out what happened. Charlie called to say they needed to find the right tiles and would let us know when they could come out. No calls for a few weeks. I called to ask about an ETA on the repair. He told me "that was done weeks ago." I asked for a date, no answer given. I asked what they did, I was told they "sealed the soffit and facia area." No tiles needed or used? The rotted wood wasn't replaced, no tiles were moved or replaced, just a bunch of caulk spread over the area. This roof came with a 10-year warranty and this warranty has NEVER been honored. If I was alone and my husband wasn't able to come behind them, I would be in a mess of trouble! And now it looks like he will have to do that again. Buyer, Be Ware!

I called in late December of 2025 and they sent two young men out to look. These boys knew nothing about roofing. They took some pictures of the leaking roof and moldy insulation. I waited for a reply from the company but none came for over two months! I began calling SIR in March but could not get anyone to deal with it or call back. They kept saying I had no warranty even though I have bha paper that indicated that I did and a contract that verified the same thing. SIR found the contract in their files--30 year warranty that covered labor costs. Eventually the head of the company, Frank Mumford, called and set up a meeting with me at my house to inspect the damage himself, but he always begged off and never came. In late March he called and offered to do the roof AT COST and replace the insulation for FREE. His bid on doing the roof was $5,800. By this time I had contacted a company recommended by my insurance agent--A FOR PROFIT BID was made at $3600, plus they would follow the specs of the insurance company! Needless to say, I had the recommended company do the work When it came to replacing the insulation, it took SIR 48 days to show up and they only did a partial job. There is much more that could be said, but I will leave it at that. Consumers, be sure to take multiple bids on all future jobs and research the company before you sign on. I give a one star rating to SIR HOME IMPROVEMENT. . .
