Kroger Marketplace is a fairly new building that is gigantic with sections devoted to produce,…read moredelicatessen, a Starbucks, and even a clothing section in the middle called "Fashion Essentials". There is also a seasonal section to the left of the entrance. The rest of the store has the usual perimeter items with the long rows that run from store front to back being divided by a central aisle to make it easier for shoppers to travel between rows. Key items are listed above each aisle to allow customers to make judgments about where to find something not specified. They do have a wide variety of food items but even they aren't all inclusive. I checked for a few items that my local Meijer carries and they weren't available here. And prices are hit or miss for being the "best" deals. Of course, they have a frequent customer use card that allows further discounts. That requires filling out an application to get the card. One thing I found a bit greedy was that when the checkout machine prompted me regarding getting cash back, it asked for approval to charge a $0.50 handling fee. It's free at Meijer. Meijer figures that if I am spending money with them, they already made some profit, but apparently Kroger needs to squeeze another four bits from me if I want cash. Seems like they ought to give me a discount for paying with cash if cash is so valuable to them! And is it worth that small fee to leave a last impression with a customer that they were gouged? This is a huge Kroger Marketplace store with specialty items not found at other Kroger stores and…read morehas added departments such as for flowers, clothing, kitchenware, housewares, office and school supplies and a large selection of wine and spirits. It also has a specialty 'Cheese Shop' with an expanded selection of gourmet cheeses, crackers, fruit paste and other accompaniments. The produce section is fairly large and has quite a lot of organic items. There is a water filtering machine to refill your containers. They have 10 or 20 lb bags of ice up front. There is a Starbucks inside the store and a seating area there and near the deli. The store is very clean and has nice wide isles. And I love that it's open 24 hours every day. Nice and cool inside too. This is one of the nicest Kroger stores in the nation. They have some personal favorites of mine like hydrogen water, Harmless Harvest organic coconut water, Califia toasted almond milk, La Tur Cheese and Guthrie's Sin in a Tin chocolate Pate in the frozen desert section. Shortcomings for me are the lack of preservative-free shrimp and more natural seafood, but sadly, this is common at most grocery stores. It has a little bakery on site (Lemon's Bakery Cafe), which has hot food and baked goods, with seating by big windows that overlook Mass Ave. Beyond the cafe, the rest of the joint is a small grocery store. You'll find a modest produce section with fresh-looking greens and fruit and things. They sell house-made hummus and sushi. The wine section is abysmal, but I did find a bottle of one of my cheapie low-key favorite bottles of Malbec here, so I picked that up. The dried ramen section is also better than it needs to be. The prices seem to be about the same as Kroger and other grocery stores. Checkout was quick and there were several registers open. The only thing is that I entered through the cafe and exited by the registers, so I got a little turned around once I exited. Keep in mind that you can only enter/exit through the cafe at certain hours. They lock that door after a particular time. (I think it's 5 or 6 p.m.)

You might think you're in the back woods of Indiana, but copies of recent Scientific American and Smithsonian fill the reading rack. A collection of Midwest minerals and fossils stand in an old cabinet. Wares by a few local artisans are offered. It's not fancy, six assorted tables. The breakfast menu fills a white board. I order eggs, hash brown casserole and a biscuit. The breakfast is ready in 10 or so minutes and served on syrofoam plates. The eggs are cooked perfectly, the hash browns stick to your ribs and the biscuit with delicious apple butter is filling. You can camp out back for $15 (primitive) $30 (electric) and pan for gold or collect rocks in the creek. It's not upscale or trendy. They might look at you funny if you ask for a latte. But these are the nicest people on earth and serve up a hearty breakfast on a cold day.

Picked our drinks from the cooler and sat out in the sunny porch table and enjoyed the 60+ degree weather after a 40 degree morning while Robin prepared our food. Friendly conversation with other customers and warm sun (and cold drinks) made it easy on the wait. (there are dining tables inside and under a covered porch too). Yes, the food is served on foam plates with plasticware, but the taste is home cooking with care. Crispy home fries with caramelized onions (can't resist with ketchup) and soft moist cornbread with whipped butter (not in package) that were perfect companion to the bean and ham stew. Though I prefer cherries that are more tart in cobbler/pie, the homemade crust made up for it. Snagged a brownie to take home since we couldn't resist. Altogether it was $23 and credit cards are accepted (whew!) Left wallet at home and we were scraping together cash and coins before we saw the credit card sticker on the door and added desserts to our order. A 15 minute country drive from Nashville which certainly would have been at least that long a wait finding a spot on a Sunday afternoon in Nashville.

It was Sunday so options were limited and, I HAD to replace the tire. All SEEMED well when I left, there was a bit of a shimmy but, it was my first road trip in this vehicle so I didn't think much of it. Made it to Atlanta and parked the car for the two weeks I was there. I had a rental for work and parked next to my truck every night. On the way back, the truck started shaking badly. I pulled over on the highway thinking I had a flat. Nothing. Checked the suspension, all looked fine. Tried to go a little bit and the truck just shook. I had it towed to Pep Boys. As the mechanic was pulling it into the garage, another guy came running out, waving his arms, yelling. My wheel, the one THIS WALMART replaced, was ready to fall off. It had two sheared lug posts and the remaining lugs were very ready to go. The wheel had been improperly seated by WALMART I had to pay for the repair AND a hotel for the two days I had to spend waiting on a new wheel. My wheel was ruined, the holes were bored out, making it useless. Not to mention the HUGE SAFETY RISK this put me in. Pep Boys got me all fixed up and back on the road. When I stopped at this location to see about them reimbursing me for the repairs, replacement wheel and lost days, they offered me $350. About a third of my total out of pocket. I told them that was unacceptable and we filled out the claim paperwork. Their claims guy called, I explained what had happened and he said he'd look into it. I have a job. A pretty good job. I was not looking to rip them off, I don't need to. I wasn't doing a "slip and fall" wanting them to buy me a house. I got REMARKABLY BAD SERVICE THAT COULD HAVE(luckily it didn't) KILLED ME!! I wanted them to make it right. That is all. I didn't ask for ANYTHING. I would have settled for just my out of pocket but, the video showed the guy torquing the lugs so, NOTHING. They claim NO FAULT AND I AM OUT ALMOST $1200!?! Needless to say, I am in the process of suing them now. If you mess up to the degree they did, SOMEBODY has to make it right. Especially when all that is being asked is what it cost me to repair YOUR BAD SERVICE!!
