Everything was great, but if I was coming back with just myself and one other person, here is what I would get: Luca salad: I'm never a huge salad guy, but I always enjoys something fresh. This salad had me scraping the plate and looking for seconds. Sweet Jamie Kay Pizza: We got this one thin and it was so good. We had another of the thick pizza with mushrooms and goat cheese. It was great but the thin pizza was my favorite. Creamy Tomato Vodka pasta: this was a crowd favorite at the table and everyone wanted seconds. If you want some protein, add a side of meatballs because those were delicious as well. Tiramisu: We shared a few desserts, but honestly this was one of the best tiramisu I've had in a long time. This is a long-overdue review. We were leaving Reggae Rise Up on a Saturday night, and we were starving. As we searched for a spot, I remembered Jay Luigi brought food to our office a few times and it was really good. We pulled in, ordered a pizza and pasta with Impossible meatballs on the side, and sat. Though the ordering system is fast casual, once you're seated, the vibe is full service. Prompt drink refills, clearing plates, etc. It was so good, as soon as we left on Sunday we knew we were hitting Jay Luigi again. Different pizza and pasta, both spectacular. I just find the prices very steep to be honest. I got the vodka pasta with sausage, my husband got the confit tomato pasta with sausage, and we each got a coke. With tip, it was $72. No appetizer, no bread, no dessert, no alcohol. It was good but not for that price in my opinion. I feel like you can get two decent steaks for that price - because when you really lay out the ingredients for what we ordered and the cost, it's very simple and doesn't cost too much to make. I found it jarring to pay that much money for ordering at a counter and for the portion amount. The staff was friendly, and its smaller in there than I expected. Luckily we found a table for two but I'd personally be hesitant to go there with a larger group. Oh emm gee, that ricotta dip and focaccia! We got the dip tray and found that all the dips were delicious, BUT the ricotta was the absolute favorite! The focaccia was so airy and had the perfect texture of crisp edges, but fluffy, light midsection. I will be back again for sure! The only downside is the parking situation. It's a small lot with minimal spaces available, but I am sure that you could find another spot somewhere close by and walk. read more

What a great lunch spot! The lunch special is an incredible deal. The salad has the perfect amount of dressing. The chicken sandwich was packed with flavour. The tomato sauce on it was the star. The concept of ordering at reb counter and then receiving table service is unique. Our server was incredibly attentive. When we started wrapping up, he brought to-go containers before we asked, which was awesome. It has been a few years that we have been here. We were close by in Vinoy Park, & this sounded like a great option. At first, on a Sunday, it seemed dead, & we weren't sure it was open. It surely was, and closed at 9 PM. Soon after we arrived, the place got full. Here you order at the counter, & they deliver it to you. You also pay in the beginning. We ordered the meatballs. It comes with 2. Ricotta can be added for $3 more. They were alright. Not bad not amazing and out of the ordinary. We also ordered the drunken mushroom, not spicy and added Italian sausage. It was tasty but sure wish the sauce was creamier. My husband didn't like the type of noodles. They service was very friendly. They checked to see if all was well, & we stated yes. I brought my nieces and nephew here for an auntie day and it was a hit. The younger ones ordered from the kids menu and let me tell you, those fries were really good, even I had to take my "auntie tax". For myself and my older niece, we got the SWEET JAMIE KAY PIZZA and the BRUNETTI'S TRADITIONAL ALFREDO and added grilled chicken to it. Loved both items! I've been here twice now and have tried a couple different things and I love how fresh everything tastes. When the weather is nicer outside, the outside seating is the best. Absolutely delicious food, the creamy tomato vodka is my favorite pasta dish from any restaurant. The taglio pizza is extremely fluffy but surprisingly light. They also have gluten free fettuccine which is a nice break from having penne everywhere else. It was busy but they were accommodating to our larger party. Very friendly staff This location is different from the tampa location because you have to stand and order like youre at a mcdonalds. They will bring you your food to your table. The vodka sauce is really good. Thought pricing was very high especially considering it is counter service. I asked for a side of butter and that was going to be an additional $3. When the bread itself $7. I think at least a half order of bread should be an option. Especially since the ordering is set up making it impossible to split appetizers. Anyway, one of the selections on the buffet was the Caesar salad. I actually despise Caesar salad, but I had some. I must say that Caesar salad changed my mind forever about Caesar salads. I loved it. I thought the Marcona almonds and the dried fruit absolutely made it. I have never had a Caesar salad with fruit or nuts before! I've been to the Jay luigi in tampa and loved it, so i had to check out their original location. This location was more of a faster dining, order food at the front and they bring it to you when it's ready. We tried the whipped ricotta with focaccia which was so flavorful and a perfect combination of sweet and salty. We also shared the Luca salad, which was soo good. I ordered the fagioli pasta which had nice flavor and a kick. i usually don't like sausage but it was good with this pasta, something i've never tried before. It was a rare cool summer evening so we grabbed a table outside to take advantage. I enjoyed the ambiance outside as it was later and there were only a few tables outside. Visited Jay Luigi for happy hour on a Friday afternoon and I really enjoyed the light bites and drinks offered! We headed straight to the bar and quickly got seated and greeted by all of the bar staff! We enjoyed our Caesar salad and meatball sliders and the drinks were equally as good. First time visit may just turn into forever. Such a gem of a restaurant. The food was amazing, the service was perfect. The value was exceptional. We ordered the Charred Broccoli and the Verde Risotto (heavenly) to share for starters and followed it all with the Elena pizza on the Romano crust. I was slightly worried that the thicker Romano crust would be too heavy. It was so light and airy with the perfect amount of crispy. Their pizza dough is a 3 day fermented sourdough made in house (according to the server) and it did not disappoint. We were well taken care of without being hovered over. We will likely return later this week to sample a few dishes we noticed on other tables as we left :) It was that good. We sat inside as we'd spent the day outside. We feel like we totally wasted $50. The drunken mushroom tasted like just broth pasta with a small thin dried grilled chicken breast. Barely any vegetables and believe me it tasted just like broth mixed with pasta. Never had Limocello before, but wasn't too exciting for some pasta a chunk of cheese with some lemon sauce. I've ordered from Jay Luigi's for carryout a couple times and finally had the opportunity to dine in a few weeks ago. I enjoy their pasta. You can tell the pasta is fresh-made it just has the almost chew texture to it, unlike crappy boxed pasta. I usually go with the vodka sauce, nom nom. My MOm ordered a meatball with hers, and the meatball was phenomenal! Portion size is decent. If you dine-in, they don't do traditional wait-staff. You order at the register and pay, then they bring to your table. Then anytime you need something, you put up a little flag on your table and they'll come by. It seemed to work ok. My only complaint about doing this is in the case of beverages, they seem to only offer cans - so if your'e sitting and eating for a while, whereas a normal restaurant would do free refills of soda, you now have to buy additional cans. Meh. But besides that: Food is great (and fast!), restaurant interior is adorable, they also have outdoor seating. Definitely recommend if you need a quick place to go to get decent food but don't have time for a traditional restaurant (example: we stopped on our way over to see a show at Amalie Theatre).
