This was my second visit to see Dr. Patel for tooth pain. The first time was in 2013 when my general dentist knew I needed a root canal. My dentist praised Dr. Patel as being one of the best in Endodontics in Northern Virginia. And he was correct!! Not only was I seen quickly due to my tooth pain, but Dr. Patel took his time explaining his assessment and thoroughly went over my treatment with me prior to proceeding. I was so relieved to be in good hands because the procedure went quickly and without much pain. Dr. Patel and his team made sure I was comfortable and relaxed so he could get the job done. When I returned to the dentist for a crown, he mentioned how impressed he was with the quality of the root canal!! Fast forward to 2023, my new dentist suspected a cracked tooth and referred Dr. Patel unsolicited. She too said he was one of the best in the area to determine what I needed. Due to severe tooth pain, Dr. Patel saw me right away despite having a full schedule that day. Once again, he and his team were thorough, professional, understanding and committed to making me feel comfortable. It turns out my tooth was fractured and Dr. Patel took time to explain his assessment making sure I left with an understanding of what needed to be done. He recommended an oral surgeon who is well known and has an equally stellar reputation. Dr. Patel followed through with his promise to discuss my fractured tooth with the oral surgeon's office so that the practice knew exactly what care was needed. This is quality care at its finest!! Dr. Patel always answered my questions in terms I understood and took the time to explain the problem and treatment. He never tried to recommend services not needed as some dentists have done with me in the past. I was dreading this appointment due to the nature of the work required. I was extremely impressed and happy with the service I got. They are punctual, They respect your time, I didn't have to wait like you normally would expect. He is informative at each step of the process. The quality of work was excellent. He followed up a few times after the procedure over a few days. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for an Endodontist. The office was clean and the staff were very helpful and professional. Some parts of this procedures were not covered by the insurance policy. Had an awful experience here. I was referred by my general dentist. I arrived for my appointment and Dr. Patel was fine - not overly friendly or kind. You can tell he uses the same corny jokes over and over again because they come off contrived and insincere. My root canal was painful and I had to hold back tears. It was like an electric shock through my body. The first day after the root canal felt okay, but after each passing day, the pain was becoming unbearable. Unfortunately, it was over a long holiday weekend so I just took ibuprofen nonstop until I could get a hold of his office. I waited in agony until Monday morning. Their website and answering machine say they open at 8:30 AM, and so I called promptly at 8:30. Nobody answered and there was no option to leave a voicemail so I continued calling (at this point I'm crying at home from the pain)...that's when his front desk staff picked up the phone and hung up. I thought it was a fluke at first, so I called again - and once again, someone picked up the phone and hung up on me (I could background noise of people in the office). This "game" of me calling and them answering and hanging up continued for 5 more times. Finally his receptionist picked up the phone and didn't hang up - instead, she answered and said "we don't open until 9". I asked her why she was answering the phone and hanging up repeatedly, and she got defensive and then repeated that they open at 9. I told her I was in excruciating pain and that I needed to be seen. She told me to come in at 10:30 and then hung up on me. After that experience, combined with my less than pleasant root canal, I couldn't in good conscience return. I understand Dr. Patel is well regarded, but your front office staff is a reflection of you and your practice, and I was absolutely appalled by my treatment. This review is not for the doctor. I wanted to write this review based on my experience at the front desk. My wife and I stopped by here for a consultation with a referral from our dentists. Our experience here was great except for the young lady at the front desk. When I mentioned to her my insurance covers for diagnosis visit she started giving me a lecture on diagnosis, evaluation and consultation with so much attitude and treated me as an inconvenience for questioning her before making the payment for the visit. She flatly said my insurance did not cover for a consultation visit with a specialist. Even though I disagreed with her my wife made the payment for the visit and left. After getting in the car, I called our insurance company to verify whether we were covered for this visit under our policy by providing the procedure code D0140 as shown on the receipt. After confirming with the insurance agent that we are covered under the policy, I called the doctor's office back to mention this. She did not own up to her mistake for telling us that we weren't covered under insurance but rather she was disrespectful and didn't want to listen. She asked the doctor to talk to us. Anyway, the end result is that the doctor's office will file the claim to insurance company and we get reimbursed. I would recommend the doctor but not their customer service on the billing portion with providing false data and being disrespectful while questioning. :( read more

Like the other reviews, I loved Dr Patel. The root canal was the easiest procedure I've ever had done. No pain. Very little discomfort during the procedure. I unfortunately had a complication and now have to have the tooth pulled. Even though it wasn't his fault at all, Dr Patel gave me my money back . I didn't ask for it back, he offered and sent the check directly to me. As I have maxed out my dental benefits, I appreciated it. I will def recommend him highly and it's the only place I will go for the dreaded root canal (again easier than a crown or filling). He was helpful in diagnosing my problem. Dr. Patel has now treated two of my teeth with root canal therapy and if I ever need it done again, He will definitely be the specialist I go to. Dr. Patel takes the time to explain what he is about to do and the reason along with the chance of success. During both the procedures the anesthesia was virtually painless and the procedure itself was done efficiently. At the end, he gave me thorough postoperative instructions and even called me that evening to check up. The staff are all professional and friendly and every time I have gone in I have been seated promptly. Nobody wants a root canal but if you need one, I highly recommend you have it done by Dr. Patel. I came here to see the specialist and I was referred from another doctor office. The front desk blond lady have no customer service, don't even know how to welcome new patients. The other staffs aren't clean, when she used the X-ray to take a pic, she didn't even cover the thing and put in my mouth, specially in this movement that everyone scared of CONV. Top of it, the front desk didn't even give me any estimate for my today's service and what is the procure that I will be doing. Last week, I was referred to Dr. Patel for a root canal by my dentist due to my tooth being too calcified for my dentist to do it himself. I was a bit reserved, who WANTS a root canal? And really, the price you pay for them to inflict all that pain, to your mouth as well as your wallet?? But all jokes aside, I had my reservations, it was a simple office not much on the way of decor, but very clean. I didn't see much as I was in the first room as you enter the office, but there seems to be one hallway of exam rooms. When I had called, the receptionist was very polite and being that I had 2 insurances and one was expiring in just a few days, she was able to bring me in the next morning to insure that I was able to minimize the out of pocket expense. The registration forms were emailed to me, and they were very simple and speedy, a point and click format that didn't require a lot of typing, which when you have to do lengthy histories, that is GREAT!!! It is also directly linked to their portal, so there isn't anything to send back to them, and they see it before your visit, great help. The morning I arrived, I was a couple minutes late and called and they were very accommodating as few doctors are. Once were sorted out the insurance and I was taken back, they looked over my x-rays and we had to do new ones. This is my only area of complaint, the assistant wasn't great in explaining why the new ones had to be completed, but I reserved that it had to be done and we moved on. When I met Dr. Patel himself, he went into more detail on the x-rays, pointing out on the older ones and new ones his staff did as to the magnified images, how he was going to do the procedure, the 3 types of "Caines" he was going to use to numb me and why, and how they were used due to the length of time they each worked... I am a nurse and had used each of them and had never thought of it from the aspect he explained it. He made my nerves melt away. Saying this, is a HUGE DEAL!!! I take Xanax to get my fillings done and wear earbuds to get my teeth cleaned!!! The explained each step of the procedure and worked quick, efficiently and not that I want to have any other endodontal work in the future, but if it comes up, I would definitely return to his office. read more

I have always been incredibly nervous and anxious to go to any dentist based on childhood experiences. I was referred to Dr. Patel for a root canal in 2011. It was no sweat, honestly; way different then my friends made it seem. Again, recently, I was told by another dentist that I needed a root canal on a different tooth and immediately I knew who I was going to call. Dr Patel is the ONLY person I would see for this type of work. He's very knowledgeable, gentle, warm in nature and calms me down by explaining the entire process throughout the procedure; so much so that you actually forget you're getting a procedure done at all. I would not even entertain another Doctor for this type of job. All of the plaques on his wall are proof he's the best in the area!! Oh, and he calls you at the end of the day to check on how you're feeling. How many dentists take the time out to check on their patients?? Ah. The dreaded root canal. When I found out that I had to have one, I was a bit of a wreck. My dentist recommended Dr. Patel and assured me that he was very good. She didn't steer me wrong. His office is very nice. It's clean, simple, nothing fancy. The girl at the front desk was very personable and professional and checked me in efficiently. They emailed me a link to fill out all the forms before I actually arrived, which was a good idea. It saved a lot of time and it was nice to not have to do it all with pen and paper. She did take a photo of me after explaining that Dr. Patel likes to have a picture of each patient for their file so he can remember people. I thought that was a little strange, but...whatever. After being taken back to the exam room, Dr. Patel's assistant (her name escapes me at the moment) came in to take a couple of x-rays and ask me some basic questions. She could tell that I was nervous and did her best to help me relax. Dr. Patel came in shortly afterwards and introduced himself. He was very pleasant and explained everything he was going to do. The Novocaine shot sucked, but he was quick about it and numbed the area up before giving me the actual injection. The root canal itself was pretty easy. He worked quickly and was very reassuring. When I was checking out after the procedure the girl at the front desk gave me some free Advil samples and an instruction sheet. At the bottom of the sheet was a number to call if I had any questions after hours or any pain. Later that evening my cell phone rang and I wasn't able to get it in time. I checked my voicemail and it was Dr. Patel! He had called just to see how I was feeling and make sure I was doing okay. He even left his cell number in case I needed anything. How cool! If you are unfortunate enough to need a root canal, at least you can lessen the negative experience by seeing Dr. Patel. He's great!!! read more

Given the fairly poor situation of having to do a root canal, Dr Patel is a great choice, and specialized in root canals. His practice is well managed and effective and the staff is very pleasant. As opposed to many dentists, I experienced no wait time. Even though I arrived 30 minutes early, I was brought straight into a treatment room. The treatment was surprisingly painless, Dr Patel explained every part of the treatment and I received a follow-up call from the doctor in the evening after each session. After completion, I got a comprehensive report to bring back to my referring dentist. I have no basis to review the cost, but his staff had called my insurance company and had cleared everything prior to my visit. I got a final out-of-pocket bill that I could clear right away. read more

I had so much pain one day that i called Dr. Patel's office and they were able to see me the same day. Dr. Patel made me feel so comfortable, explained in detail what was going on and what i needed to do in order to solve my pain. He started treatment the same day i called in to get me out of pain. I knew i was in good care and his chairside manners were superior and professional. I was here for an emergency root canal. I was greeted well by the receptionist the check-in was fast and clear. Once on the chair Dr. Patel was super clear on what was going to happen and completed the procedure with the least pain I could have dealt with. WATCH OUT! ONLY TRUST TO REAL REVIEWS! Very irresponsible and unprofessional! I found this dentist in-network list of Delta Dental insurance and had a standard root canal for my tooth # 30 in two sessions on 10/26 and 11/21. The insurance company refused to pay for the D3221 code that was submitted by the dentist. After that, I sent an email to Dr. Patel and asked him to follow up with insurance, but on a phone call on 12/6, he said, "I do not have time to call the insurance and will write a check for $192 (to cover D3221's cost) for you". I was very curious and followed up with the insurance, and the insurance replied that the cost of D3221 is already included in procedure code D3330. That's why they deducted the cost of D3221 from D3330 because it had already been paid for on 10/26. The claim is not denied or not being paid for; only the portion that was billed for twice. We called the dentist's office about seven times, but they did not answer our calls when they saw our phone number. So my wife called with a different number on 12/15, and they answered the phone. Also, I sent 3 emails to Dr. Patel on 12/15 and 12/19, but I got no response; in addition, they should pay me $220 for the extra money that I paid to the office. read more

My jaw pain was building over the Christmas holiday and by the weekend I was taking Perkoset from a previous dental implant. Anyway, my dentist was out of town and referred me to Dr. Patel who was able to see me at 11:00 the next day. That night had me in tears and at 2am I texted Dr. Patel at his emergency number and he got back to me by 5am. He told me to be at his office by 8:30 and he'd be in at 9. And he was! I had a partial root canal (go back in 10 days) and was out the door by 10:00! Initially there was not a lot of pain relief but pain meds he prescribed have helped. Dr. Patel even called me the afternoon of my procedure to see how I was doing at home. He is a very kind man and I felt completely at ease with him. RAVE REVIEW for Dr. Jayesh Patel (Microscopic Endodontist): I, unfortunately, had a dental emergency yesterday and into today. I had to be treated by an endodontist. I was treated by Dr. Patel about 10 years ago for a root canal and during that procedure I feel asleep! Who does that?!! It was actually a pleasant experience. Today, I had a massively infected tooth that previously had a root canal by a less competent dentist about 12 years ago. Apparently, they left a nerve that has been causing a lingering infection and it culminated with an infection leading all the way to the BONE! Unbelievably painful. Dr. Patel fit me in immediately today (the endodontist my dentist referred me to, told me that they could fit me in NEXT WEEK!!!) I was in SEVERE pain and there is no way I could have gone that long with an infection so bad. Dr. Patel's office is beautiful and sunny at Fairfax Corner. Dr. Patel & his staff are SO friendly & calm....competent and knowledgable....which makes you feel very much at ease. Every step of the way, they were careful, reassuring, and complete. Dr. Patel explained everything to me very clearly but did not "dumb it down". I couldn't have been in better hands. Again, the procedure was PAINLESS even though I had some major issues going on. Later today, I called because I was experiencing a symptom I thought I should report. He spoke with me immediately and was extremely kind (and again, reassuring) that it was nothing to become alarmed about and explained the "why" my symptom was occurring.... Then, he informed me that he calls every patient to check on them on his drive home...and that he would be calling me again later tonight to answer any questions and to check on my status. (WHAT DOCTOR or DENTIST DOES THAT NOWADAYS???....perhaps a nurse.....but the doctor....WOW!) He also gives out his cell phone # so that if anything happens after hours, we can call him. The day before surgery for an extraction, I was referred to Dr. Patel by a friend for a second opinion. I had a partial root canal performed four days prior and was told that it could not be completed due to a calcified root canal, and surgery was scheduled. During my consultation, Dr. Patel completed my root canal, located an additional root, and removed a tiny file that had broken off from the initial root canal attempt.. It was absolutely painless! He explained everything along the way and was very patient. He even called me at home to check on me! He saved me from an extraction and implants. I was very impressed with him, and his staff. Dr. Patel and his staff are truly wonderful. I was sent to his office by my dentist for a difficult diagnosis. He explained the problem, what the options were and provided his recommendation. He explained everything so that I had no doubt what needed to be done and answered all questions. He was very busy at the time but he and his staff worked me in to relieve my pain and proceeded with a root canal that morning. Ten days later Dr. Patel completed the procedure and there was no pain involved. What was even more impressive were the follow-up phone calls by Dr. Patel (personally) to check on how I was doing. I had a temp crown which just kept aching so my dentist referred me to Dr Patel for a probable root canal. I was scared to death! The office staff is great (front desk is amazingly friendly!) and the Dr was straight forward and explained everything. He is great at administering the numbing shots without "discomfort" and the relief of not aching felt soooo good! There was no pain in any of the procedure and he called that evening, himself(!) to see how I was doing and they gave me his cell number if I had any problems after hours to feel free to call him. When I was referred to Dr. Patel for two root canals by my dentist I asked "is he the best you know?' My dentist replied that "Dr. Patel is the only one who does my teeth" and I know why. His staff is extremely polite, professional and courteous. They did not get antsy when I asked a million questions and did all they could to allay my fears that my allergy to pain would appear. Dr. Patel was the consummate professional explaining the steps and procedure before and during the treatment. Although I am allergic to pain amazingly I never felt any. After treatment, Dr. Patel followed up with a courtesy call to assess my after treatment condition and that call was worth a million thanks.
