I just saw the only other review that was left 8 months ago and now my experience makes more sense…read more Long story short this practice has ghosted me on and off for the past year. I have had to use several forms of communication to get an appointment and have only been successful a couple times all year. I am not sure if it's the practice or the specific provider's, but I want to say both because both have not responded to my requests for an appointment. I was referred to a therapist here after a few others outside the practice were full or didn't take my insurance. My ob wanted me to talk to someone before I had my second child because I experienced postpartum psychosis with my first. I was initially given an appointment with the provider I was referred to who specializes in PPA and PPP and PPD. But then they called back to tell me that provider wasn't accepting new patients. They assigned me to another therapist and I did a virtual visit a month before my due date. It was too easy to pretend everything was fine from a screen. We met one more time before I had my son. Then we had a video visit while I was in the hospital after giving birth. She said she would touch base with me the following week to see how I felt. I didn't hear from her for over 6 months. I have anxiety and the postpartum period didn't help. I thought it was a test. Or she didn't like me and fired me as a client or something. Meanwhile I got my son in to another provider at the same practice. I had called the office to request to see my therapist and they said they'd pass her the message. Nothing. I mentioned it to my son's therapist and she said she'd say something to the therapist. Nothing. I finally called the office back and the secretary said she would definitely make sure she got the message. Then called back and asked if I needed to make an appointment or talk to the therapist. I said appointment, I guess. Then she's like "oh, ok, I can just do that for you" . I went to the appointment and my therapist was very nice but didn't even address the fact that it had been over 6 months since I had the baby and we spoke. It was our first (and only) in-person visit. Therapist was nice, but I wasn't comfortable opening up after she ghosted me for that long without a comment. I think I did one more virtual session with her. And again she said we could schedule something in a week or two. Another two or three months went by and nothing. I reached out to the practice itself and requested to meet with my therapist or any therapist that can discuss my issues and what the road to intervention looks like and I haven't heard back in two months. I found my therapist's direct number finally (somehow it didn't get saved in my phone) and reached out to schedule an appointment. That was two weeks ago and I haven't had any response. My son's therapist was great (mostly). Although now she cancelled the last appointment because she was sick and has yet to reach out to reschedule. Now after reading the other reviewer's comment about insurance, I wonder if that's why they're ghosting me too. No matter the reason, this is not a good way to treat people seeking mental health help. I'm not sure what's happening at VCP but I can tell you my experience has negatively impacted my mental health more than it has helped. I hope they see this review and do some assessing of how they can improve as a practice.

An extremely disorganized and unprofessional practice…read more Twice, we made an appointment and came to the office. Both times, the therapist NEVER SHOWED UP. And both times, there was no receptionist, so we had to hunt for someone else in the office for help. Each time, there was only one person there, who of course had no knowledge of our appointment, or what to do. To boot, the therapist didn't call us after the last debacle. Unless you crave frustration and fruitless efforts, plus wasting gas, don't even bother with this place.

First off I think any and all therapy can be good if you are willing to work on whatever you are…read morethere for. I found Discoveries counseling because she specializes in an area I'm looking to get help with. 1st impressions, this is an old house that looks like a country cabin that has been converted into several offices. WAY COOL. You walk in, there's a kitchen with tea and coffee for everyone (yes patients to) and then the waiting room. The waiting room is like something out of a rustic retreat. Fireplace, log cabin decor, a 5 foot tall moose carved out of wood and a window looking over a country garden. Talk about relaxing. In the winter the fire place is often on and there's something about a fire place in a room like this that makes me think warm thoughts and fuzzy bunnies bouncing in the snow. Peggy, eh...hemm... Dr Peggy Derivan is great. "We" call her Peggy as that's what I'm comfortable with.. When you stop to think about it she doesn't look like a Peggy but that didn't occur to me until sitting down to write this review. I've seen a number of therapists (yeah I'm totally wacko) and many of them are like stiff boards and give the impression that you should be strapped to a metal table and poked and prodded. Not Peggy. She's like the cool aunt that has your favorite ice cream on hand when your bff and you have a fight. I meet ppl for a living and Peggy has a presence that puts you at ease and a smile that is as genuine as they come. Her office is one of many practices in this place and while walking there, the house is so cozy and log cabin like, it's very relaxing. On your 1st meeting she tells you a bit about her and why she does what she does. Her office is small but comfortable and has a nice scent to it (you have no idea how much scent effects your life) Without getting into why I'm here I will say she's very knowledgeable and has been super helpful. I see her solo and with my wife when we need it. Like I said, she's like the cool aunt (not the one who talks to her flowers, the other one). A great therapist will tell you, that you have to be comfortable with them or it won't work. Peggy pus me at ease and is the best therapist I've ever seen (I've seen 5). Give her a try, if you liked this review you won't be disappointed, .
