I've never written a negative review about anyone because I try to support small businesses. I had a bad experience with this social worker. I had no intention of sharing my feedback until I saw her responses to reviews on this public board. I thought this social worker was weak, ineffective and defensive. I didn't know she was unprofessional until I read her responses on yelp. On July 8, 2023, Jayne Roberman publicly wrote the following to a former patient. "I'm wondering what prompted you to write such a scathing review when we've had no contact for 8 years. Is it possibly because you haven't been able to work successfully with any parenting coordinator since then due to your significant well-documented mental illness?" No licensed social worker should behave this way on a public forum. Her conduct on yelp confirms her negative reviews. read more

I am disappointed to write this review b/c Jayne was recommended to me by my lawyer, and I really believed in the idea of a parent coordinator. She was not mean, was not unkind, but she also wasn't helpful in resolving our conflicts. My ex-partner and I are amicable and agreed to share custody of our daughter well before meeting Jayne. We agreed to child support and I paid him willingly to support our daughter throughout our divorce process, so we really should have been an easy case to work with. Most of our conflict came from anger caused by me leaving and him moving on with another partner within weeks of separating. We came to her with two conflicts, him introducing his partner to our daughter without telling me and him telling me his new partner was pregnant. All which occurred within a year and a half of us separating. With the first issue, she didn't help us see each other's sides, and didn't address our anger or show us how to look at it differently, which I really thought was her role as a social worker. We came away with that issue largely unresolved and with no real recommendations about how to communicate about such issues involving my ex's partner and our daughter going forward, which ultimately lead to problems with the second issue. She had a private conversation with my ex-partner using our retainer money to discuss aspects related to introductions to his new child. I found this wildly inappropriate when I found out as I felt the financial responsibility of that discussion should have been my ex-partner's and his new partner. Whether this be right or wrong, Jayne told me I was wrong, and inferred that my not agreeing with the appropriateness of it equaled my unwillingness to support my child emotionally. That infuriated me, and I ended the relationship and asked for the remainder of our retainer back. I wish she had suggested my ex tell me what was going on first and ask that he involve me in the decision whether to discuss this situation with her. Prior to that, we had never scheduled a meeting without the other knowing and being present in the meeting. (this will be something I add to future contracts with PC's) It's also worth mentioning, my daughter was in therapy for 5-6 months following our separation due to emotional instability over us moving into different homes. Jayne knew this but to my knowledge, Jayne didn't suggest talking to my daughters therapist for advice, who is a trained child psychologist and would have been the appropriate person to talk to about the situation. I'll never know what was discussed in that meeting, but ultimately, when my ex told the news, he told me he was telling our daughter the next day whether I liked or not. I can't imagine that was her advice, but also can't say it wasn't. It's unfortunate b/c while I never found her to be particularly helpful, I probably wouldn't have ended the relationship had she handled it differently. read more

This social worker was extremely unkind to my family and way off the mark in her assessment of our situation. She uses emotion rather than facts in her work, behavior, and reports to the court. She seems to believe that all children belong with their birth parents regardless of the damage that may do to the child. We were extremely lucky that the other lawyers, law guardian, social workers and the judge in our case were able to better understand and assess our situation. Shortly after her inaccurate assessments and accusations of our family, our daughters birth mother disappeared anyway and we haven't heard from her in more than 14 years. Our daughter is a beautiful, intelligent and thriving young adult. read more

I strongly recommend working with Jayne Roberman. She was invaluable at advising me on how to deal with an extremely sad and difficult family situation. She is very fair, supportive and professional. If you need a highly empathic person with great emotional intelligence, common sense and clear directives you need look no further. read more

Jayne Roberman was inept and unprofessional. Much to my dismay, I had to work with her for the better part of a year and she is biased towards the parent with the bigger bank account and her practices are substandard. Example: she actually suggested my infant twin daughters (whom I was breastfeeding at the time) spend more than half time at their father's house becuase he had unlimited monetary resources to pay for a full-time nanny when I went back to work and a car at his disposal. She treated me in a ghastly and disdainful manner and I do not recommend using her services. Jayne was fantastic. She was thorough and fair. She helped us to coparent peacefully. She was responsive, empathetic and kind. Jayne clearly always had our child's best interest in mind. She was exrtremely perceptive and picked up on nuances of both parents and it wasn't long before she understood who we were and what the best way for us to coparent was. First, I have to thank the poster below for having the courage to write her review, as it inspired me to share mine. Protective parents often don't know what they're stepping into when they agree to work with a social worker like Jayne Roberman or some of the other professionals from agencies like Family Kind who have cozy and lucrative relationships with our family court system. If courts truly care about the 'best interests of the child', they should be wary of creating situations where joint custody becomes a vehicle for ongoing PSA, with children caught in the middle, and parents/families impoverished by the system that is supposed to help them. In my case, this professional who was referred to help ensure stability for the children often only added to the dysfunction, bringing in her personal biases, hang ups and uninformed positions. She also seemingly lacked training in relationship dynamics such as CC and DA by proxy, and in NPD which many of us know drives family court issues. Although my great fear is that professionals like her see exactly what is going on, but are highly motivated to equate blame across both sides, ignoring NPD behaviors and enabling PSA, because addressing these issues head on - and openly admitting the inherent pitfalls of JC- reduces the need for their questionably effective services. If Family Court cares about helping families, they need to seek to reduce the significant financial incentives for these various 'helpers' in the system, and also ensure that their work is evidence based, trauma informed, with proven efficacy, and with required training in NPD. The patterns are really not all that hard to see if you care to look. This professional was not interested. In my case, this social worker was largely ineffective, and she seemed to compensate for her inabilities by lashing out, victim blaming and ignoring and excusing obvious signs of NPD, PSA and controlling behaviors. Sadly, she often seemed more concerned with the replenishment of her retainer than the welfare of the children she was charged with helping. She also presents as an extremely thin skinned person, and lashed out if I ever dared to question her or ask if she would be open to ideas to improve our (obviously ineffective) process, ironically all while harshly criticizing me as 'reactive' and 'hostile'' if I expressed any trace of human emotion as I helplessly watched my children struggle with significant social, mood and academic issues, caught up in the co-parenting chaos that she was unable to effectively address. read more

Jayne roberman came highly reccomended from many top people in the field to me and was hired to help me in a very difficult family situation. she was very thoughtful and put in the time for us. I found her extremely knowledgable in complex family dynamics . without getting into personal information about our situation I will say she was instrumental in the process of helping put things back together and I would highly recommend her services . read more

Jayne was a therapeutic supervisor for my daughters visits, and she was the first person who truly humanized the custody process. Jayne was always professional and always caring, and she helped my daughters feel comfortable and safe during supervised visits. They were actually sad when our time with Jayne came to an end, as was I. read more

There are a number of seemingly very honest critiques on here, but unfortunately this professional seems to have chosen to question and attack the reviewers instead of contemplating that her practices may be harming families and children, and thinking about how she might make her work more effective. I also note that within days of her posting various responses to negative reviews, two 5 star reviews were suddenly posted. This professional seems to want to claim that her cases are 'high conflict' instead of acknowledging that a number of these cases may likely involve CC and PSA (now acknowledged by law in CT with the passing of Jennifer's Law), with children caught in the middle by a parent willing to use them for control and/or to avoid financial obligations. To my knowledge, there are no studies that show that parenting coordination has any beneficial effect for children. Disappointingly, this professional goes even further and seems to want to try to expose people posting their reviews, threatening to have their reviews removed because they have not posted their family's real names, absurdly ignoring that people may want to remain anonymous given the work she does involves their minor children. Based on my experiences with her, this sort of unprofessionalism and pettiness is not at all surprising. In the fall of 2022, Sanctuary for Families hosted a conference regarding the dysfunction and crisis in our family courts, and over 1000 people attended. That speaks volumes. read more

I would not recommend working with Jayne Roberman for any personal or professional services. Hiring a therapist can be a tedious and scary process. Especially when you are entrusting that the professional with your safety. When I was first introduced to Jayne, she presented herself as a kind and professional individual. However once our sessions began her insecurities and inability to manage herself in a professional manner came to surface. I wish that I could write a positive review. But, I cannot. You're better talking to a close friend, than hiring Jayne for her services. Trust me, you will be sorry. read more
