I did find a PAYING job and Dr. Mekles is very supportive and shows real interest. With Dr. Mekles - I'm able to taper my benzodiazepine slowly - with lots of support from the doctor. He's very patient and is very understanding and knowledgeable about withdrawal symptoms. He didn't push me - but prodded me to do this vital step The secretary is very helpful. She answers text messages immediately - to assist with medication renewal requests and appointment changes - when needed. Very professional indeed Medication management is the best I've ever had and he tries his best to keep my med count to a minimal level. I highly recommend Dr. Mekles - and thank you very much.

Waste of money, time and energy. Very hurt by the whole experience. We sought care for our daughter…read moreand were misled. The provider did not review the data we submitted, then sent us for further testing that we later realized was repeated testing and ultimately we couldn't use any of the evaluation from NYC Psychiatric Associates for the school meeting (in two days) because it has been deemed invalid because the same testing had been completed four months earlier by the school and due to the time frame was invalid. We sent records from many different sources, and it is now our understanding had they actually reviewed that data the testing they recommended wasn't even warranted. We spent a lot of time and energy on these providers. They are kind, but ultimately careless, not thorough, and incompetent. Ultimately the "results" hurt our case with the school who we have already had many struggles with. What they provided us with was literally not usable and we told them many times what we had hoped to accomplish with that documentation. Now they say "we provided the diagnosis" and dismiss the other reasons we went to them. Justifying everything, and it was expensive. My family invested in it! They did not review all of the testing from other providers, and had they done so it is now our impression they should not of recommended further testing because it was unnecessary. My family feels like we were provided poor guidance, our concerns for our daughter were capitalized on for profit. We requested a refund since the documentation could not be used at the school as we had told them we needed multiple times (even sharing concerns it could not be the same testing multiple times) and I have multiple emails in my inbox in which they justify the quality of their work saying "we have her a diagnosis" - then minimize and deny the validity of the concerns we have posed regarding the entire experience, and they are refusing to refund us. They have offered to revise the documentation, but I have already submitted what they originally sent me to the school. They have lost credibility, and so have we. It has already been dismissed by the school as unusable. The school meeting is tomorrow, and the "magic bullet" we thought we had invested in is a ZERO and a major hit to our bank account. The staff seem very sweet well meaning, but results are NIL. Cold competence that gets results is far better than the lip service we received. They seem as though they genuinely care, but at the end of the day the results did not get us what we needed for our daughter. The staff seemed kind, but the competence simply wasn't there. Reviewing available data is important to the process and *standard in this field and it shocked us the way things have transpired. 100% unprofessional. When we had issues, I had to ask many many times before a supervisor ever even got back to me. A literal nightmare. This has now been a back and forth email for over a week with no refund in sight. I'm sick of this situation, and we are already so stressed addressing things with the school this has just been another problem. They knew we had limited resources walking into this, and we feel used and burnt out and like we have less faith in providers of this caliber than we did when we walked into this situation looking for help. I encourage you to strongly question any of the recommendations they give you and "evaluations" they recommend and whether or not that is even warranted. If you have alternate providers that you trust, I would start there instead. They profited off of a vulnerable child and scared family in out experience... and when they made mistakes, they doubled down. Not a place I would invest in to help my child

I've never written a review but I'm really compelled to speak out. I'm legally blind and I went on…read morethe Psychology Today site, searched for a blind allied psychiatrist and found Dr. Packer. I only saw her via telehealth and she was already weird and off putting. She had a camera set up off to the side so I never saw her face just the side of her face. It's hard to share stuff about yourself when you're not looking at them in the eye. She did telehealth over Zoom, which is not HIPPA compliant. Her office was either a weird looking space with a toy stuffed moose hanging on the wall or she did meetings outside. I said my previous diagnoses were anxiety, depression, and ADHD. She said she'd only treat ADHD if she made the diagnosis and made no attempt at finding anything out regarding my attention deficit. I'd been diagnosed since I was in grade school. She said that since I was blind it might be helpful to read a book she wrote on a the subject. So I checked it out on Amazon and the book she "wrote" is just a collection of short stories of blind people in fiction. I mean I like Daredevil, but I don't see how comparing myself to a guy with superpowers is really gonna help me cope with having to give up driving. She was constantly late to our 15 minute long sessions, which lead them to be like 7 minutes. 5 of which were her trying to remember what drugs I'm on. This is one of her worst offenses. Prior to every week's appointment, she'd send me a form that I had to send back. It had questions like, what medicines and dosages are you on? Are you pregnant? Are you thinking of hurting yourself? She rarely ever read these forms. It is, however, seriously disconcerting when he did and I'd get them wrong or whatever because she said she uses these forms to keep track of what medicines I'm on. She'd be super angry and condescending toward me about her forms. The real question, though, is shouldn't she, the doctor, be monitoring my medication in her notes? Speaking of medication she had me on so many drugs that I couldn't keep track of it. At one point the prescription ran out so I stopped taking one of them. The withdrawal was bad and I brought it up to her that I didn't want to be on it. She said it was working so well for me once. I told her that it wasn't doing much. She said patients forget how well meds work sometimes and I should stay on it. At one point I moved. I had to find a new pharmacy so we tried the Walgreens that was 15 minutes away. At the Walgreens they said my insurance said my Dr was supposed to get preauthorization for the medication (the one I didn't like anyway). So I send her an email and during my next appoint with her she said that the people at Walgreens are wrong she'd prescribed this hundreds of times and didn't need that. And the it must be that the people at Walgreens only have GEDs so they don't know what's going on. I was shocked. I felt like it was super elitist and kinda racist. What actually happened was my insurance needed preauthorization because insurance does bullshit like this all the time to deny care. She eventually got the preauthorization and couldn't admit that she was wrong. There are other stories about how she accused my 80 year old mother of a felony and I was literally worried she'd call the cops. When I moved I temporarily was out of state so she couldn't treat me. She sent my refills to the pharmacy where I used to live and I couldn't contact her for more because she wouldn't treat me if I wasn't in NY. So I went through a bad withdrawal. She wanted me to call some guy at the lighthouse guild and she sent me his contact card, which was blank. I told her about it and she was angry I didn't call them and search for this guy who was like an accountant. Eventually I switched insurance because I had some better insurance. Told her and she gave me attitude and I was done with her.

I've done Reiki a couple of times before but never felt a huge difference. With Deborah, it was different. During the session, Deborah asked questions to understand my needs and concerns. She was positive and warm, and made me feel very comfortable. She also introduced me to flower essences, which I hadn't heard of prior. During the healing session, I yawned a lot (like I was releasing a lot of repressed energy!). Afterwards, I felt relaxed - it was clear that the session truly worked although it wasn't done in person, which I was a little nervous about at first. Deborah also quickly followed up after our session with additional information and promptly responded to a follow up question I had about flower essences. It's been four days since our session, and my chronic neck pain that I've had for 10 weeks is significantly better - in a way my chiropractor couldn't help. I'm really glad I made the investment in my healing session with Deborah and now understand why she has so many positive, genuine reviews (she's not compensating us or giving us discounts to write these, like some businesses do!). They're not the worst... but FAR from adequately trained enough to understand PTSD or provide you with the tools and skills to manage symptoms. I specifically requested a seasoned therapist trained in PTSD. I was assigned a middle aged woman (Alex) that didn't inform me until MANY sessions later that A) being a therapist was her 2nd career B) she JUST graduated from school. The latter didn't come as a surprise to me. I suspected she was in over her head by her lack of confidence and inability to elaborate on therapeutic concepts and their benefits. When I spoke to the supervisor/director (Stephanie ?) and asked why I was paired with a novice when I specifically requested a senior level therapist, she was evasive, indifferent, communicating in a childish voice and unprofessional tone - merely saying that Alex was the only therapist available and I would have to wait several weeks or months for reassignment. While Alex was a kind and professional therapist, I'm not new to the therapeutic process and I wouldn't recommend this center if you're grappling with severe and debilitating emotional trauma. Additionally, when I requested my therapy notes, I was given gibberish with no specifics, interpretations or meaningful observations about topics discussed in sessions. Their intake process is thorough but also repetitive and redundant - be prepared to received multiple emails and calls and being asked the same questions as the last time.

This is an updated review of Sharon and NY Private Practice…read more I recently reached out to Sharon after not having spoken with her in 5 years because I was facing a crisis and fondly remembered her as being one of the sweetest, easy going, down to earth professionals in her very delicate field. I am now changing this review because, like the last person who posted about her missing appointments, she did the exact same thing to me. I was experiencing some very serious adverse side effects to one of the medications I was on. The meds were exacerbating existing conditions and I felt completely out of control of both my actions and my life. This is when things became troublesome. I scheduled a video appointment and when it came time our meeting, she put me on hold to take another client's call, stating that it would be really quick. I waited patiently for, no joke --- TWO WHOLE HOURS --- before finally ending the call. I e-mailed, texted, and called multiple times to let her know about my worsening symptoms. I never directly heard back. I had different appointment times confirmed, only for her to stand me up over and over again. By now my anxiety was full blown and not being able to get in touch with her only made matters worse. I found myself scrambling to find a new healthcare practitioner. She put my life in danger and didn't care. Instead, I watched as she erased my final scheduled appointments without any explanation given. I really don't know what happened to her, but I sadly cannot recommend seeing her anymore and urge you to look elsewhere. I also see that the therapist (Narcisa) with whom I was referred to is no longer there either. Bottom line: I needed her care and she ignored all cries and pleas for help. Unprofessional in every way imaginable. Stay away.
