From the parking lot. Plenty of superhero security minding the store front... ;-)

Already a notable presence in the Des Moimes area comics/games/CD and vinyl/collectible toy/disc golf space, if you are interested in any of these areas - or a gift for someone who is - you already have good reason to visit. Jay's new store location makes this all the easier. Conveniently located right off of I-235 and 22nd Street (next door to Chuck E. Cheese, in the old Hancock Fabrics building), this is a great location to drop in for the latest comic or a new putter disc. Jay's has made good use of the space the location affords them and the store is easy to navigate. Whether you are looking for a leisurely search through the collection, or a quick grab and go, this store provides.

They have a lot of things there in the store, from action figures, old school video games & consoles, board games, anime, manga, figurines, trading card games, Funko Pops & much more.

Love shopping here. I can almost count on the quality of merchandise I buy here. Things can be pricey, however, for the G.I. Joe action figures I buy, they are priced right for their superb condition. Therefore, when I purchased an item, I made the error on not inspecting what I was purchasing. The figure's internal o-ring was old and it appeared the previous owner attempted to pry the figure open and cracked it. I don't know if I'm more mad at myself for letting my past buying experiences here blind me or the fact that they would purchase subpar merchandise, like I, and sell it. Lesson learned. INSPECT EVERYTHING.

Records galore

Jay's Cd & Hobby was a huge surprise to me on the vinyl record collection they had, specially in a Mall! Located in the Valley West Mall, Jay's Cd & Hobby is full of toys, cards, comics, posters, records, and dvd's! If you are a collector of anything pop culture based from the last 40 years you will probably find something in here you will love! And at least be entertained looking around! Tons of cool old Starting Line Up's in the original cases and so many old rad Star Wars toys! I was so excited to find things I was playing with when I was 5 years old! Now as a 33 year old I was more into the Vinyl records they had on hand both new and old! I picked up an Impressions record (Curtis Mayfield's band) and Badfingers' Magic Christian Album! Both for 4.99, can't beat that price! Who knew one of the best record stores in Des Moines would be located in a mall!

Very wide selection of new and used merchandise. Definitely worth a walk through if you are a gamer or collector.

Great prices and thee best customer service I've seen in this industry. Hobby Haven has lost touch with its customers and seems to have such a negative approach if your just looking. Not Hobby Town. My kids beg to go there and I never miss a chance to stop in. Amazing selection for all forms of hobby. It would be a mistake not to do your shopping here. Thank you Hobby Town.

Lazy or Racist? I was with my Puerto Rican husband this afternoon and watched him call Hobby Town…read morefor a part for an RC crawler. He was told they didn't have it. We went to check out the store for fun anyway. We were not greeted when we came in even though we were the only people in the store. We found his exact vehicle in the store. He pointed to the part he needed and the guy didn't even look, just said, "we don't have it." We left and my white brother-in-law called and reminded them of the day he had purchased the same part. He had them set it aside for us and we returned. my husband bought the $48 part and asked if they could install it. It was clear they didn't want to do it and he was given a very vague answer of how they were too busy even though there were no other people in the store. My husband paid for the part and left. Whether they were just lazy or racist we don't know but either way, the service was terrible.
