American goes to American breakfast spot- fork found in kitchen. Jay's was my boyfriend's favorite brunch spot when he lived in Buenos Aires so we had to visit. I grabbed a vanilla iced latte and we both got some eggs, toast and side dishes. I got some hash browns and he got pancakes. Wow the hash browns were so good. And I'm normally super picky about my pancakes but these were also incredible. They also give you a cup of maple syrup which I didn't think would be enough for me but it was alright. I got a cheese omelette which I didn't like too much but I traded it with my boyfriend for his scrambled eggs- I highly recommend the scrambled eggs, they have a really incredible seasoning. And the hashbrowns. You order at the counter and your food is brought to you. You can pay with a credit card. This place definitely feels like a sports bar/breakfast spot and they even had my local teams flag up on the wall! Skol Vikings! An American visiting Buenos Aires, found this on Google by simply putting in American breakfast . we had been here for five days and I was craving an American breakfast and JAY'S did not disappoint. I don't really want to complain because basically the taste I was craving I was given. I do not speak the language, but I thought they understood I wanted my egg over medium or like the picture at least Sunnyside up and I got a full on fried egg ( fully cooked) so that will be my only complaint I don't like my yolk fully cooked. a very small place so you may have a wait, they don't rush you to get up. it's quaint it's not many tables. The menu is pretty easy to read with all the regular American cuisine for breakfast. bacon eggs, pancakes, waffles, etc. you look at the menu at your table and then you go to a window to order, we were told that when we were seated ( quickly forgot ) we are not used to that so we did forget, we sat for minutes wondering when someone was going to take our order and then we remembered we had to go to the window . even though you have to order this way, they do bring your food to your table. Our host/waiter was extremely nice. I'm sorry I did not get his name, I'm from California we talked a little bit about the decor. He told me he was a Spurs fan. MY HUSBAND got an iced coffee with no ice at all. Super sweet tasted more like chocolate milk with whip cream. It was OK for me. I did not order that myself . it was crowded but we were able to be seated just the two of us in about 30 minutes but if you're from out of the country and you're from the states, JAY'S is the place to go . the food was delicious over cooked and all. read more

April 2023: Such a fun American sports themed place. A great place for a huge breakfast. Staff was kind and we were able to get seats right away. You order at the counter and not at your table but it was easy to figure out. Food came out fast and it was nice and hot. Overall great experience. read more

We wanted something familiar so we came to jays. Jays is an American style spot with breakfast all day. They had your favorites and give you a lot of food for a good price. The tv was on an American station so we could catch up with what was happening at home. All of the decor is American state license plates and sports teams. The service is quick and friendly. I got the west village one thing that stood out is they made the bacon crispy. Usually when we get bacon in other countries it's not as crispy! read more

so everyone says Jays has the BEST American food and best pancakes and REAL syrup. ahhhhhh.. not so sure about it.. the chicken sandwich was super good, great bun and crispy chicken but no flavoring or seasonings.. same with the chicken strips... nice crisp but no flavor, super bland. The pancakes were good.. I can make them the same in my house, but it is nice to have them made, but the syrup is crap and not anything like the USA syrup.. so that claim to fame is not true. The mac and cheese is a large portion, but made with cheaper cheese leaving it not that great. There are a few places do it better.. A self styled "New York Diner", which offers up things like "all day breakfast" (music to my ears - I'm not big on eating breakfast early in the morning, but I love breakfast food, and having it at lunchtime or mid-afternoon makes me happy). Now, it's not quite a NY style diner - it's a little more hipster and kitschy, and the sports pennants from a wide variety of teams across the US side by side would never fly in NYC. And there's no waiter service - you go to the counter and place your order - they do bring it out to you, and they do have unlimited coffee refills on "café filtro", or basically, a filter coffeepot, which is very diner style, and something you never see here in BA (neither the filter coffee, nor the concept of "free" refills). Also, the first real norteamericano diner in town since the closing up of Randall's several years ago. And nice folk, too, spent a little time chatting with them. Just because it had to be done, once (and truly, never again, I didn't eat the entire rest of the day), the Upper West Side Breakfast for only 185 pesos (contrast that to the above paucity at 154) - two eggs any style, actual toast (white or whole wheat), hashbrowns ("brown" is the name, they shouldn't be this blond, but they do have good flavor, they just need to be browned more), four strips of bacon (same, they need to be much crispier - but I imagine in both cases it's just a matter of asking for it), and, two pancakes that were real pancakes, though the "butter flavored syrup" may have left a little to be desired. Coming from someone from the States who spent a long time in BsAs this place fixed a lot of the homesickness my tastebuds were feeling. Incredibly delicious crispy chicken fingers. The milkshakes were some of the best I had in the city. Good crispy French fries and fast food. Only thing is that the "buffalo" sauce like every other place in the city doesn't taste like real buffalo in the states, but the buffalo sauce here is still better than most places in the city and actually kinda hot. read more

I'm an expat living in Buenos Aires and was craving "American" breakfast, which this places does offer. This place is a bit deceiving. The ads made it sound like it was owned by a NYCer that moved to BsAs. It's an Argentine owner who either went to NYC or lived there for a short time, but the breakfast was below average.
