Dancefx is a not-for-profit so they really rely on and commit to the community. Plus, they are SO AFFORDABLE! They've got a ton of classes and events coming up and they sell clothes there, as well so you can make your tutu and leotard dreams come true. If you've ever even thought about taking a dance lesson this is the place to go. All the instructors were amazing in showing us how to merengue! (Sp?) They teach all ages from 2.5 years and up, so there's no reason to be shy. They even have babysitting events so mom & dad can go out while the little ones get some energy out!

Ok, moving on... Emi was super friendly and didn't make any of us feel like we were too stiff to be there (thank God, I saw bullets streaming down hubby's face when we pulled into the parking lot). The event we attended was called Elites Get Coupled, which was appropriate given that it was almost Valentine's Day. Though my guy was totally nervous about this, I'm so glad we went! Emi, along with Lorien, taught us some merengue moves, and it turns out almost anyone can learn to dance. We felt pretty good about our abilities by the end of the event! Lorien brought in her all-girl hip-hop group (I think they're part of the Pin-Up Troupe?), and they were SO COOL... and talented, obviously. I could have watched these ladies perform all day!! Though they may have had me feeling like my new merengue moves were a little lame, at least now I know I have something to work towards... right? One of the best parts about Dancefx is the fact that they're a non-profit and donate to all kinds of local charities that support causes like fighting AIDS, helping the homeless and people with disabilities, and so on. I think it'd be such a thoughtful date idea to bring someone here and learn a couples dance! You get to know each other in a different way and can judge once and for all who's got better moves (I think we all know who won that dance off...wink wink). I utilized not only Robin's training sessions twice a week, but also hired her for her nutritional plan. I really didn't know what to expect for my first ride. I joined Olivia's class and she was so amazing. She's a phenomenal teacher that focused on being mindful, pushing yourself and overcoming mental roadblocks. She takes the time to encourage people through that class and that really helps to keep you going. The facility is basic, no tanning beds, Sauna is extra and it's a 'retired person's schedule for classes', no classes after 5pm. I wanted a two day pass and was told that wasn't possible because of their computers so I bought a three day pass for $25. However, that Saturday, Sunday and Monday I had to take care of the same friend that I was going to the gym with - he hurt his back and could literally not walk or drive so I played nursemaid gladly. When I approached the front desk person she said that she would work with me since I had extenuating circumstances. I came back a day later to find my code didn't work. When I spoke to her again, she said, "I can't help you unless you buy a membership for $150 for a membership. I want to add I am currently unemployed so that $25 could have been a $1000 to me, but I really really wanted to work out. This gym IS NOT WORTH IT. The door system is down so much, it shouldn't be listed as a 24/7 gym. My friend has had at least two instances on the weekends that the door system is down and there is no contact phone number to get help. If the owner is such a 'standup' person, she needs to rethink her business model or get new employees that can take care of people. I've been to boutique gyms before and NOTHING about this gym warrants their attitude towards the customers and the actual equipment at the gym. AND the last time I was there in the evening, a member brought out a boom box the size of Manhattan and blasted the gym with ear shattering, wall shaking music such that I couldn't even hear my own music in my AirPods IN MY EARS!!!f My advice for this place - STAY AWAY, STAY AWAY, STAY AWAY!!!! THEIVES!!!!

Usually you have to go through a manager of a manager of a manager if you have complaints or questions and with this gym, you can go directly to her. The gym has what looks like brand new machines and the pads aren't worn on anything which is a plus, and the free weights go up to 150lbs, I think, it could be higher (but who's lifting that much?). I like the fact they sell t-shirts and it's located in the heart of downtown which is great because after working out, you can grab a bite to eat at a local restaurant. I also like the fact there is so many cameras because you can never be too safe in terms of security. There's an aerobics room and a Crossfit room which is pretty cool and the gym is lined with mirrors which is great so you can work on your form and see where your faults are when lifting.
