We go to JCC at least twice a week for Silver Sneakers classes. Jim Gould, the Boom class leader is great, offering alternatives for those with back or neck problems, etc. His music is fun, changes to the theme and keeps the workout light-hearted. We normally stay and work limit or walk a mile or two on the indoor track. Our kids enjoyed the big, now enlarged and improved pool. Later our daughter and her future husband worked there as summer camp counselors. (She liked him because of the way he treated his kids. He went on to become an elementary special ed teacher and then school admin.) We love the place, everyone works to their own ability. It's quiet, never crowded, clean and bright. The JCC has become a second home for our family. The resources you can find under one roof are endless. To name a few: - fitness center - fabulous yoga and Pilates classes, spin too -swim lessons -excellent daycare -massage services -outdoor water center -indoor lap and therapeutic pools -programming like the festival of books, pottery classes and more -kind and welcoming staff We're committed for at least the next four years with our kiddos in the daycare. Been a member since 2021, and have lived close to here for almost 2 decades, I don't know why I didn't join here a decade ago. Facility is very nice and the staff are friendly. They have multitudes of choices to do as they have a lot of amenities and programs. Highly recommend to join this place if you're around this area and want to be active. Gosh, I wish I could give a better one word to experience my rating with the J.C.C. Years ago and I mean years ago my 2 boys went to camp at the J.C.C. Such a wonderful total experience. I have gone to various classes and have met some wonderful folks in classes. Looking back at other reviews not everyone will be pleased. Please give it a try. No one at the front desk has ever been rude to me or even when I would call with a question. Very polite and respectful. We visited the JCC Aquatic center for the first time to attend a 2 hour dog dip event. I didn't get to see the entire center but the aquatic center itself was massive. The water was well maintained and there were pools of different heights starting from 1 all the way to 6 feet. It does look like it gets very busy in summer with all the classes. We had a great time at the center and enjoyed the expansive area which gave us ample privacy as well as a good time for interaction with other guests. I will definitely check out membership and prices for the next season! read more

The gym is great; quite a variety of machines and equipment and rarely crowded. The only issue is they no longer offer childcare while you're working out so I am not able to come on a regular basis. I hope they bring that back as it makes a huge difference for those of us with kids. read more

Pro: Beautiful outdoor aquatic center with lazy river. Cons: rude, condescending front desk staff, disrespectful lifeguards and guest blackout dates. I paid $400 online for the outdoor pool membership just prior to visiting the pool with my sister who was in from out of town and my two children. My husband was out of town so I figured it would be no problem for her to take his place. It was a huge problem for them, as it was Fathers Day and guests werent allowed. I asked if she could be my 4th person since I paid for a family of four. No. We went to Broad Ripple pool. Second and third visits were great. Today on our 4th visit I brought my one son and his friend along. The woman at the front desk treated me like a criminal for even trying it, then questioned me for my son's membership card. He was never given one but I had my key ring card. Not good enough. She barked at me that the pool wasnt open until 12pm. It was 11:30am. I asked if I could use the bathroom, she said yes but that they wouldnt let us in the pool area because nobody was out there. She sternly told me I was only allowed two guest passes a year. Okay lady, calm down. My son peeked out and told me there indeed were people out at the pool, so I assumed the guards were letting people out. We went out and set up shop by the lazy river. A few minutes later a lifeguard told us we had to leave because they had a camp until 12pm. I shook my head and smiled and said okay. He went on to smart off a few more times, condescendingly telling me he knew how hot it was and if Id just be so good to go wait inside. I said, "we've got it, thank you" after about two more sarcastic remarks from him. He walked over to a table full of other lifeguards who looked at us and snickered. Pic attached. We found a bench outside the basketball courts to wait for the remaining 20 minutes and got to witness a camp counselor down the hall shouting "shut up, Marco!" Repeatedly. He caught my eye and looked embarrassed, as he should have been. So. $400. Beautiful pools. Four visits. A lot of bad vibes leaving us feel unwelcome. Update: no floaties in the deep end, where my 10 year old actually, you know, needs a floatie. Wow. read more

One year a thunderstorm closed the outdoor pool during our party, and they swiftly moved us inside to a private party room adjacent to an indoor pool and created a seamless transition. Our son swims weekly with the Joseph Maley Foundation, and this is one of the locations we use. There is always a lane open for him to swim laps, and it's pretty quiet in the lane pool. If you're lucky, you can snag one of the 2 chairs available. Otherwise, you're left with uncomfortable benches to watch from the sidelines. Employees we've encountered in the last year are also friendly and polite. Facilities seem clean. They also require ID check in of everyone that is a nonmember and have locker rooms specifically for underage guests/members. read more

I'm hesitant to leave a review because I kinda wanna keep this Indy gem a secret. But this is THE BEST pool in Indy. This is our 6th year purchasing their Family Day Passes for the outdoor pool. (We don't live close enough for the membership, but would buy it in a heartbeat if we did.) They run a special before Memorial Day and we max out the limit. It's clean, not over crowded, and the life guard staff is attentive. We bring a sacked lunch and stay until we're exhausted. What more can you ask for?! There's a kiddie pool, lazy river, 2 water slides and a big pool. It's big enough to keep interest and small enough to be not so overwhelming. Note: There are daycamps that visit the outdoor pool during the day, but we have never had an issue because the camp staff is on it! read more

This place is monstrous. There's a big waterpark outside that gets packed on summer weekends. There's an indoor therapy pool, basketball courts, racquetball courts, and a fitness center. There's a modest Sunday farmers market in the parking lot. read more

We went here on memorial day to cool off because it was 90°. When we checked in they asked a ton of questions, and it took about 15 minutes to pay and give us all of the information. We were waiting in a line, it just took us 15 minutes. The pool is pretty nice they have it sectioned off for people to want to do laps and also for people who just want to jump in and walk around. There is a lazy river, which I would call more of an adventure river. It has water that rains down on you and it's pretty crowded, so not to relaxing. They also have a very cool kiddy pool. It has spray features and a big playground set for little kids to run around on if they want to. We did eat at the café and regretted it because my mom waited for 35 to 40 minutes for a tuna salad sandwich. When she got it, it look like it had had a bite out of it and also was falling apart and look like something a two-year-old would make for their mom on Mother's Day. And it cost $4 which more than .4 cents would have been too much. The whole day cost about $35 for two people. I wouldn't do it again for just adults, but if you have kids or a membership it's probably worth it. read more

A great community center, with kids camp, day care, multiple pools, a fitness facility with trainers, nutrition services and physical therapy available (I'm sure I've missed some). On Sundays there is even a farmer's market, year round. It moves indoors during the winter time. The equipment is very up to date and we'll maintained. I appreciate the indoor track and free fitness classes, especially the power yoga! Everyone is very friendly and the personal trainers are happy to answer questions. Physical therapy assessments are complimentary. There is a snack shack by the pool and a small cafe with breakfast and lunch specials. This is a great community center, open to the public. They even host the Parents Night Out events, free childcare for parents of special needs kids who need a night out every so often. read more

You can join several affiliated gyms for just $25/month and I am so excited that this is one of them! This gym is small and very family friendly. You will find friendly staff that is always willing to help in any way. It has an indoor pool and an indoor therapy pool, an indoor track for runners and walkers, several indoor basket ball and racket ball courts as well as indoor tennis courts. For those with kids, child care as well as child activities are available. There are sports leagues for kids as well as adults, martial arts, Pilates reformers, dance classes and group exercise classes. Favorite gym. I got a discount here due to my place of work. It is a very family friendly environment with a mix of all peoples as it is so convenient to our neighborhood/area. The facility is clean and does not have the "gym jock" vibe that other gyms have. It is much more pleasant than my former gym and has most of the same options (LA fitness). read more

The JCC fitness center is maintained by highly trained people who always are available to give a helping hand! The staff in the fitness center is friendly and welcoming. I wouldn't chose anywhere else to work out and swim. The machines are up to date and are kept in really good condition. And antibacterial wipes to clean of the weights and equipment are readily available to prevent the spread of germs and keep the environment clean for the guests. The place can fill up during the evening rush but the facilities are equipped so well that there is always available for use. Also, if you are just starting to become a gym-goer, the staff members at the fitness front desk are approachable and can help you with any machine if you don't know what to do or how to use something! The aquatics center is probably my favorite part of the JCC. The therapy pool and competition pool are both indoor and are open all year round to guests. And the family favorite Sydney and Lois Eskanazi waterpark opens for the summer months and includes water slides, a lazy river, a competition pool and a kid friendly shallow pool for the little ones! The pool can get a little crowded in the summer but thats only because its an awesome facility! The lifeguards on staff seem to really take their jobs seriously and are always truly paying attention to the swimmers and guests to ensure their safety. During the winter months, the indoor competition pool is a great place to take kids for a swimming day! Who says you can only swim in the summer? However, there are frequently lap swimmers in the pool taking advantage of the JCC's wonderful aquatic center, but the guests are always so friendly that usually the lap swimmers will share lanes to make room for the kiddos. The JCC offers a vast array of services including private and group swim lessons, basketball camps for youth, work out classes with instructors throughout the week, and personal training sessions. Other highlights of the JCC include two basketball gyms with multiple courts, a tennis center both indoor and outdoor and three racquet ball courts! We have been members at the JCC for two years now. We love it! My daughter attends the preschool and I can't say enough good things about the program. The staff is fantastic- very caring and well trained. There is a good mix of free play and structured learning, including gym class, swim class and music. We also enjoy the aquatic center- again, the staff is very well trained and they have the most attentive lifeguards of any facility I have been to! My daughters are in the Early Childhood Education Program, and my husband and I use the exercise facility. We are at the JCC almost every day of the week. I can't speak highly enough about the JCC as a whole. I'll break my review into two parts, so those without kids can read about the facilities and those with kids can read about the whole place: 1. Exercise facilities: the best part for us has been the aquatic facilities. When I was pregnant with my second child, we were in the pool at least four days a week for months. Aquatics staff clearly care about the people in the water. They are attentive and friendly. The facilities themselves are beautifully maintained. In the summer, we really enjoy the outdoor facilities. The kids' pool areas are fun. I have had friends join the JCC rather than the RIVI or other local pools just for the outdoor pool facilities. 2. Early Childhood: Our daily experience has been stellar. ECE administrators are always responsive to emails and calls and very supportive of parents. ECE teachers are top-notch all the way from infant to preschool rooms. Playground facilities are fun. I love that the teachers in every room have encouraged a healthy balance of learning and play. My nephews attended summer camp last year (older elementary). They raved about the experience and will probably return this summer. Camp counselors like Jeff really connected well with the kids and are also comfortable talking with parents and guardians. The best part of our JCC experience has been with the staff of the JCC. From aquatics and fitness staff to Natalie and Melinda in membership to Don, Lisa, and others at the front desk, to Ms. Erin, Ms. Erica, Lalah, Christina, Jennifer, and all the teachers of the ECE...I love the human connection at the JCC. This review is getting long, and I haven't even mentioned the awesome cultural activities like the Katz Festival of Books and Arts. The JCC is an Indianapolis treasure. On the plus side, you don't need a membership to attend a class and they get great turnout.
