It's no secret that I'm a fan of CoHatch, a 30+ location network of co-working, community spaces…read morethat has been in existence for just under 10 years since its start by six friends in Columbus, Ohio. CoHatch, which has hosted at least a couple Yelp events that I can remember, currently has five locations in Central Indiana (a sixth, Circle Centre, I believe has closed). The locations include Polk Stables, Zionsville, Carmel, Noblesville, and this location in Broad Ripple. This location is housed in a former church (I know it used to be Common Grounds and I'm pretty certain it was at least one church before that). There's still some of the stained glass windows present. Managed by Jenna, whom I met during a Polk Stables Yelp event, this location seems to be quite busy. While I didn't get a chance to go around it as much as I'd have liked as I was here for an actual meeting, I was impressed with the decor, amenities, the people I met, and the efforts to make it accessible. Let's start there. Not every CoHatch location is truly accessible - they tend to locate in unique and often historic buildings. This can create challenges to true accessibility. This location has accessible parking in the back along with a ramp that goes up to one of the doorways. If you're not a member, you'll have to be let in. I wasn't completely thrilled with the end of the ramp - it's got a bit of a lip to it, however, the effort is obvious and it definitely works. The parking is also truly ADA compliant. I didn't notice all the businesses here, however, I did note that the Sagamore Institute maintains offices here. This location has the usual coworking spaces, a large event space, an outdoor area with a patio and kitchen, a sports simulator, and private offices. They have high-speed Wifi, coffee/tea options, meeting rooms (we used one to record an interview), 24/7 access, phone booths, office supplies, mailbox service, printing/copying, workshops for members, a kitchen, and an onsite manager. The neighborhood feels safe and is a pretty easy jaunt over to Broad Ripple's main strip. I like the decor, though found it a bit more plain than some of the locations. I think Polk Stables remains my favorite of the Central Indiana locations. This location is probably the closest to my home and it's definitely someplace I could see myself working. As someone who does a lot of social outreach/charity work, I definitely saw spaces I could bring to life here. I also did notice the restroom offered nice accessibility and there were some personal supplies in the restrooms - nice touch. I'd wanted to stop into this place and was pleased when I found out a meeting was going to be here. I finally got to check it out and was definitely impressed.

I liked that they had maintained the structure and tried to continue the architectural flairs and quiet spaces yet allowing for new design inside. It is used for various offices and you can either rent out an office space (small cubicle) or just work in one of the many co-work spaces. It was tasteful and expansive but also had several little nooks for a quieter space. There were outside spaces and even a Barbeque space that could be rented for parties or business outings. My meeting was a fun way to be exposed to this location and will definitely be returning to try out some of the other spots for meetings or work.

He informed us that the facility is for the community, to rebrand the far east side, I love that! Inside you'll find a coffee shop, which wasn't open when I came, but I'd love to come back and try it out. They offer day passes to utilize what they have to offer or you can become a member. The building is fairly new and each room has a name that relates to the east side. The room we worked in was called "The Mitt" which refers to the street "Mitthoefer." They have gender neutral restroom along with designated women/men restroom stalls. The restrooms were clean, but the water to wash my hands was very cold. They have a large parking lot for easy access. I'm thinking of using a day pass to have a study session, try the coffee, and explore more of what this place has to offer.

They have different prices for memberships or to rent out a suite. I find P30 to be very nice especially for the community out on 30th and Post. The worker Ja'ir had explained to me the meaning behind P30 the last time I was there. I had enjoyed my talk with his because you can understand the passion behind P30 especially with them trying to pour into the community out there and to help the community to understand they too can be business people. There is a coffee shop inside there but it wasn't open when I was there. I see the prices are very reasonable. If you are looking for a space to work out of definitely check out P30 if you are in the area and need something because they give out day passes.

There were two individuals helping to direct parking which helped tremendously. The beautiful Zyntango Farm Barn is an authentic 1800's barn with modern amenities. It's an event venue for weddings, receptions, graduations, bridal showers, family reunions, corporate retreats and special events. It's located about 5 minutes from Whitestown on the NW side of Indy in the countryside. Just 3 miles off of I-65, one exit north of the Zionsville exit and less than 30 minutes from downtown Indy. The barn is two stories with a flight of stairs. I'm not sure of the barn capacity but I would think this is best for a small to medium size event. The free Holiday Market had approximately 18 - 20 vendors in attendance. Cork and Wine Barrel was there along with a jewelry artist, a tattoo artist and Fantasy face painter, chocolate and cookie makers, a candle maker, a variety of signs, a small boutique, a lap blanket quilter and an artist displaying her oil paintings. One of the vendors, Keepsakes By Design, does personalized itching in glass cookware which is perfect for our bakers in the family. A couple of small food and beverage vendors were onsite with BBQ sandwiches, hot chocolate and soda. I found several vendors that is perfect for hostess gifts and family Christmas presents. So glad we took the time to visit today.

The venue was showcased as an indoor outdoor attraction and I loved finding out the possibilities. You are able to rent the space for any occasion which I found awesome and many of the working relationships they have established to provide services are amazing. A sunset gathering here would be amaze balls. Just beautiful. If given the opportunity to check out the newly finished improvements made by all means do.

We normally stay and work limit or walk a mile or two on the indoor track. Our kids enjoyed the big, now enlarged and improved pool. Later our daughter and her future husband worked there as summer camp counselors. (She liked him because of the way he treated his kids. He went on to become an elementary special ed teacher and then school admin.) We love the place, everyone works to their own ability. It's quiet, never crowded, clean and bright. Constantly being renovated.

I've been spending some time in Beech Grove over the Memorial Day holiday this year, and I realized…read moreI'd never really checked out Don Challis Park. This is a 14-acre park named after a longtime Beech Grove resident who was devoted to improving the community and the area's parks. If you visit the city's website, you'll even see a letter from the Challis family on the parks department page. The park is adjacent to South Grove Intermediate School. It's accessible from 9th Avenue, and it features a picnic shelter, playground equipment, a volleyball court, and a good amount of green space with mature trees. From May-October, the shelter can be rented for $65 for Beech Grove residents and non-profits. Non-residents pay $100. The park has experienced some upgrades in recent years, though in 2022 there was a shooting at the park during a vigil. To my knowledge, it was targeted (during a vigil) and I've never seen the park have any other issues. I've always felt safe around the park and in Beech Grove. Don Challis Park does have parking available, and there's also a public restroom (I think the restroom might be seasonal, though I'm not sure). Don Challis Park is a solid community park. I wouldn't call it a destination park, but it serves the community well. For a relatively small city, Beech Grove does well with its parks.

This is a nice little park in Beech Grove. It was originally named South Grove Park, but was later…read morerenamed to Don Challis Park, after a man who diligently worked for 29 years to make the parks in Beech Grove a wonderful place for children and adults to enjoy. The park has its own private lot. It appears to be going through some type of renovation. Maybe a paved jogging trail or something. It is relatively small, sitting at about 14 acres. It has a a covered pavilion with picnic tables, a playground, a sand volleyball court, and a little green space to play or sit and have a picnic. The park also has a huge restroom facility. The playground is lined with wood chips and has a jungle gym with some slides and a long row of swings. The sand volleyball court is in adequate shape and the park's grounds are well maintained. This is a decent park to spend some time. You can hang out with the little ones or just relax and watch cars go by. It looks like they are set on improving this park and making it even better.
