I don't usually shop at JCPenney's, so I wasn't familiar with their return policy. I wasn't planning on needing to return/exchange anything. This is more of a warning for anyone that might want to buy something for someone before they might actually need it. You can't even exchange unused items after 60 days. This issue is also not specific to this JCPenney location. It just happens to be the location that I purchased my items from. I bought my grandson some Thereabout jeans during a sale right before school started. Unfortunately, he outgrew them before he had a chance to wear them. If you live in Texas then you know that we're still pretty much having summer even though it's almost November. So it's just starting to get cool enough for jeans. Anyway, I went to JCPenney to see if I could exchange them for a bigger size and was told that unfortunately after 60 days, they won't even exchange them, give you store credit, nothing. You're just stuck with your purchase. I have never been a regular JCPenney shopper (I wasn't pleased with the quality of my purchases in the past). If I ever do happen to shop there again, I will definitely not be buying anything that won't be worn or used immediately. I think I'll just stick to TJ Maxx and Marshalls. Even Ross will give you a store credit for the current price of the item and you have a year warranty on Cat and Jack brand at Target (i'm exchanging another pair of jeans for the very same reason. Thank goodness it hasn't been a year, yet.) I guess I'll be donating these jeans to someone else since my grandson cannot wear them and I'm stuck with them. I also won't feel any pity when JCPenney's announces more store closings. read more

I would have never thought to get my hair done at JC Penney, but they have done a fantastic job in caring for and styling my hair. Michelle, in particular, has been amazing. She uses high-quality products like Mizzani and Design Essentials, ensuring my hair looks and feels great. One of the best parts is that I'm not there for hours - I'm in and out quickly. Slow Slow slow no matter how many people in line and that's everytime I come to this location

I have been a customer of JCP since I can remember, and today I had the worst experience at the Cedar Hill location. I was returning some jeans that did not have the tag to scan, but I did have my receipt. The cashier's name was Valeria. She explained she couldn't return it because it did not have the tag (with an extremely snarky attitude). I then asked to speak to a manager to see what they could do; maybe I could exchange it for a different size. She calls for a manager on the radio, and the person on the radio says, "I don't think we can return it without the tag." Valeria's response was "Well, someone needs to come tell her." (outright unprofessional) Two managers came over Luvio and Jennifer (Tag team) and looked at my daughter and said, "We can't return it." My daughter said, "It's not for me," and looked at me. The "manager" Jennifer repeated herself, "We can't return it" to me without stating who she was, without asking what the problem was, etc. Clearly, she is a manager by tenure and not by experience. I explained that the clothing does have a bar code, and I'm sure they can pull it up. They both (Luvio and Jennifer) said, There is nothing we can do for you! My response was, "I guess you are all on the same page." Luvio responded, "We are" and walked away. I have never seen such unhappy people in my life. The attitude that was being given was definitely not necessary. I am the customer! I believe these employees forget who keeps them employed?!? Being polite and helpful will get us much farther and moving forward. I will definitely not consider going to JCP for purchases and hope that anyone who receives this type of treatment does the same. Businesses close every single day, as paying customers will not tolerate this type of treatment. JCP will be next to close, just like all the others, if they keep forgetting who keeps the lights on. And then we ask why Amazon is taking over?!?... The short answer is because they don't treat their customers this way! Arrived at 7:58 greeted at the door with an associate trying to lock it. I traveled a bit of a distance to pick up an online order, so was sure to check the closing before arrival. The store closed at 9, so I didn't understand the rush in needing to lock the door. At least twelve other customers were confused as they walked up and several just turned away. I went to JC Penney to get my headshots taken at the photo department. The employee was very friendly and professional. I was in and out within 15 minutes. Within 5 minutes of taking my headshots, I was able to pick the ones I wanted. They email the photos which usually take 2 days to receive. I haven't taken a headshot in a while, so I appreciated the help from the photographer. read more

The salon messed up my hair. I asked for two inches off, but about four inches was removed, and it was uneven. I didn't notice until I was out of the salon and saw myself in a mirror. They didn't even tell me or try to fix it. I fixed it myself at home since I didn't want even more chopped off. The layers were also cut improperly with some long and some short. Ashley is THE BEST!!!! This is our second time taking our 9 month old and we have had Ashley as our photographer both times and both times she has not only been amazing with our daughter, but has gotten GREAT shots! The place is super clean and nice and with very very reasonable prices. I found them through Groupon, but they're well worth it with or without the Groupon. We will definitely keep coming here for years to come! Super excited to get our Holiday Cards back and start handing them out to the family! I really like the JC Penney chain, but this store is in serious need of management and care. The store is always messy and disorganized, and items are regularly not shelves or stocked neatly. The customer service is also lacking and the front end staff many times are not very friendly and professional in their communication to customers. I hope the corporate office takes a look at what's needed to improve this store because I can't imagine customers will continue to endorse a store that is poorly maintained. I Come here mostly for the Sephora that they have at this location. I will however come here to find some swimwear and fitness wear from time o time. I do like the fact that this a stand alone location from having to go to the large and crowded Malls. Sometimes I will have some issues on finding my size which will have me headed back to the Mall. The staff can be helpful however it has been many times when things are just all over the place. Also the shoe selection can be kinda slim to none I'm my size as well. However it was a good notion to have it so convenient to my home. JC Penny will remain on the list when I have to find some things that I need. read more

The cashier Beatrice has the worst customer service ever. My coupon did not work on my phone. Even though she had the same exact coupon that I needed right by her cash register. So when I realize she was going to hold up the line over a coupon I asked the cashier next to her to use her coupon paper and with aggressive behavior Beatrice told her No violently. She embarrassed me in front of my daughter and sister and the people that were in line behind me and I would like an apology from her. This is not the way to treat a faithful and paying customer. Friendly associates made my return super easy! I ordered several things online, but I'm pregnant and things sometimes don't fit the way I want/expect them to. I opted not to purchase a king size comforter set in store for $170 because there wasn't a coupon available. I told the cashier I would purchase online for the 65% off. Well, the very polite and professional young man (I don't see his name on the receipt) advised that I could place my online order at the register and I did. I paid $64 (including tax) for the comforter set and it will be delivered to the store. Awesome! read more

This is one of, if not the worst JCPenneys I've been to. I buy a lot of the Worthington line for work, but the selection at this store is lacking and trying to find pants is an absolute nightmare because they're NEVER organized. Each rack has every different style and size all mixed up together so you have to go through every single rack and hope to find the size/ color you want. I stopped by today after work to do some browsing; hoping to find a shirt or some pants and look at the home decor and luggage because my husband returns from deployment soon and I'm sprucing up the house and we're going on vacation. Well, I was followed all over the store by one of the associates like I was going to steal something! Please! I am not a thief, I have a good job and the only reason I stop by this store is because it's the closest one to my house, but after today I will never step foot in there again! I'll just make the drive out to the Parks Mall in Arlington where they have a better selection, much better organized, excellent customer service, and they don't follow you around and make you feel like a crook! I will say that I got some stuff from the Sephora store here a year or 2 ago and the girl was very nice and helpful, so one star for that, but I won't be back. read more

JCP is a great go to place. They seem to always have a lot of options and variety to choose from. I especially love the clearance racks! They also have a wonderful wonderful photography department. Jayden was a photographer at this location and was amazing! Sadly I heard he left for another location, but the girl who scheduled my sons upcoming 2nd birthday photos was energetic and fun in the 5 minutes I spoke to her to schedule his pictures. So I'm sure they will not disappoint! I also love the Sephora section here. It's pretty big and they have lots of employees that are willing to help you or give you make up tutorials. Thought out the whole store everyone has been friendly. Prices are decent, especially if you have a coupon! read more

The whole staff is friendly and great at accommodating to everyone when they are busy. We purchased a photo membership. It is well worth the money. You get so many options and offers to choose from. The Parks Mall is such a hassle and about the same distance from my home as this location, so I decided to give the Cedar Hill JCPenney a try. The fact that this location is not attached to a mall is amazing and made me so very happy as I pulled up. The store itself is a decent size but the selection is not as varied as the selection at a mall store. Some employees are friendly and willing to help while others are socially awkward and don't speak or acknowledge your presence. I'm the type of customer who prefers to do their own leg work, so that doesn't bother me too much. Even on a busy Saturday, the wait to check out was not bad. While not my first choice for a JCP, I'll take this over fighting for a parking spot at the mall any day. read more

OMG, This store looks like a bomb hit it. Clothes and merchandise is everywhere.... on the floor, pile up on tables. I visit this store before xmas and it was a mess then, which is to be expected due to traffic. However, I have visit this store 2 more times after xmas and the store is getting worse. I see employee's walking around that look like merchandisers who are suppose to put items back and straighten up the store, not. It's obvious that corporate does not care about this store, because when I was in retail the closing staff had to make sure the store looked presentable upon opening for the next day. My most recent visit was on 1-15-2017 first thing in the morning right after opening. The store looked like it had never been straighten up in the past 2-3 weeks. Absolutely positively THE WORST!!! Scheduled my son for his 1 year old appointment. Brought lots of props (cause theirs are very limited) to include balloons and cupcakes for the shoot. The air conditioning was broken and in Texas summer heat this is completely unacceptable. When I inquired how long the air conditioning had been broken I was told for a few weeks. No one ever thought to call and notify me of this situation. Absolutely zero consideration. Inside the room we were shooting felt like an oven. My son cried the entire time and in the 15 minutes we were there the icing melted off the cupcakes. There was another girl also there to take her 1 year pictures. Same scenario. We both left with not a single usable shot. I was told that they would call me back when the air was fixed. Never received a call. Customer service is zero! Went into this store this past Saturday, and after standing in line for 30 minutes to return 1 item purchased on line. I was rudely told that I would need to get in line at catalog. I had returned online purchases at this register previously, and there was no signage indicating that I needed to go someplace else. I decided to leave the store, and I later called and asked to speak to a manager. I was transferred to an HR answering machine. Then I called back and asked for the name of the manager, and I was told we call him "Umoo" - Really the store manager has no first and last name? They are not Mr. or Ms. Someone? Again - I was told no we call him "Umoo"! Need I say more, customer service is everything, and these days we have so many other options, if we are not getting our needs met.
