JC Penny's is going down the drain. They had people waiting outside so long when they didn't open on time. We left and returned. When we returned my daughter went in for a look around and I sat outside and waited for her. She came out empty handed. I remember the last purchase I was going to make the lines at the one check out were so long I put the items back and left. I think they need more employees and employees that arrive on time. I may go back next visit to the mall if they are still in business! I always liked the reasonable price clothes and jewelry. Although my earrings were repaired twice by my daughter! read more

The store was dated. No one was friendly when I came in. I tried to do some Christmas shopping here, needed some help. I found something I had interest in, but it was the wrong size. Pretty clean and organized, some decent sales going on, more spacious than it's Manhattan counterpart. First of all, I have my appointment for 2:30 on June 16, 2023 here in JcPenney Salon. Then when I got here, it is closed, suddenly and the most updated JcPenney app is MISLEADING that it never tell me that JCP Salon is closed! Also, I called this number +1 718-592-1800 and pressed 5 for JCP Salon, and redirected to the lady as a calling representative. As I told her I have my appointment so, she suddenly started YELLING at me that is closed, is closed. She just doesn't care whether I feel pissed off. "Sorry" is NOT ENOUGH!!! I TOOK THE Q38 BUS waited an hour and took me another hour to get her through the thunder showers, and that's how I get- her fucking attitude! I did not even deserve that attitude as I felt pissed off that time!!! I believe she treated me badly. And because of her attitude, I closed my JcPenney account over the phone here In front of this Jc-HALF-Penney hall, as of June 16, 2023, so I ensure I'm not coming here this part of the Queens Mall anymore. Now that's how I saw more and more JcPenneys are closing in the electronic newspaper, saying it started closures from January 14, 2023, while at that day, I felt surprised and somewhat pitiful for them that my formally favorite stores are closing down. IT IS NO WONDER THAT JCPENNEY IS GOING OUT OF BUSINESS. I ordered a dresser from JC Penney on 06/26, 2024. Today is July 9. Delivery personnel were supposed to call ahead, instead, they showed up, but within the window. They moved the boxed delivery into my home and wanted me to sign off on the delivery without opening the box. After realizing that wasn't going to happen, the delivery personnel opened the box to find a gaping hole, about 3" in diameter all the way through the top of the dresser. However, the box wasn't damaged at all on the outside of the box. They tried to pull the wool over my eyes. Then I called JC Penney and spoke with "Enzo" who can't ship me a new dresser. Circa 2010 and earlier, JC Penney's Worthington collection was my go to for work clothes. Maybe the closing of the Herald Square location was a warning that things were going downhill and fast. I'd stopped going to Penney's for a while and when I returned, things were...different. Sad. The 1 and 2 star reviews here sum it up lovely. I'd recently ordered a few things from Penney's. The quality was so poor, I returned all but one item (on the fence about whether or not to return that one as well). Went to the Queens Blvd location. Two different employees seemed not to know where I was go to to return items. I went to a cashier who told me I was supposed to go to another counter. I said, great, thanks, I'll go there. But, then she said she'd assist me because it wasn't busy. I thanked her. She then tells me she's going to put my refund on a JC Penney gift card. Offered me no other options, like, refunding the original form of payment. I said, no, I'd like my refund back on the card used to make the purchase. At first she resisted. Lied and told me I could use it anywhere (JC Penney gift cards could only be used at JC Penney's and their affiliates). I'd had the clothes less than 24 hours when I returned them. It's not like I was trying to return them after two months sans receipt. When she realized I wasn't going for the okey-doke, she told me she'd refund my credit card. I take out my card and she snaps at me. "SWIPE YOUR CARD"! I felt like Whitney Houston talking to Wendy Williams. "Who are you talking to?...", lol. But I managed to tell her, with a smile, "you don't have to be rude. I just want to make sure this is the card I used for this purchase." Then, her boss comes over, praises her, and tells her she'll be nearby if she needs help. Hmmm, okayyy. Was it my not blindly accepting a JC Penney gift card that made her feel like she had to intervene? I've purchased from Penney's, maybe, three times (including this purchase) in the past 13 years! A Penney's gift card would be useless to me. Beneficial to JC Penney as they'd get to keep my money. I'll bet their cashiers are encouraged to give refunds on gift cards so JC Penney can keep that money. They've been struggling (bankruptcy filing in 2020) and apparently still are (Sephora has left JC Penney's for Kohl's). Seems only a matter of time before this Penny's location goes out of business. I'm watching my statement like a hawk for my refund. JC Penney's clothing is now on par with Rainbow. At least with Rainbow, you know what you're getting and paying a fair price. JCPenney is one of the larger stores inside Queens Center Mall. It's three floors according to the directory. JCPenney has its own escalators, which you kind of need to use to reach the other floors. Most of these were not moving, though you could use them as stairs. There are entrances on the lower level, the 1st floor, and the 2nd floor. I entered on the lower level and didn't see any maps/directories. There was one on the 1st floor, but they should post more of them. It's in the Northeastern section of the mall, away from Queens Blvd, and more of a walk for most people. Nearby Macy's, in the same mall, is just better. read more

I went to pick up an order in store. I went to the pick up area with a big sign that says "Pick up" and there was a long line of people buying clothes. When I asked the cashier if there was a separate pick up line, she tells me it's on the side of that pick up area. I was the only one there for pickup. I watched her take the long line of customers and ring them up so I asked her if there was a cashier to help me get my pick up order. She said she would be the cashier to get my pick up order. What was the point of standing in another line for pick up if she was going to ring up all the customers on that line first? There was also a separate cashier line to make purchases in a different area so those people could've stood on that line instead of pickup line. I was told from someone who worked there that the cashier was named Jacqueline. She was so rude in getting my pick up order. She gave me so much attitude in picking up my order. I showed her my ID and she said that I didn't when cameras and other people waiting in line can see I clearly did. When I asked to speak to a manager, she said there wasn't any on the floor. Jacqueline deserves to get fired for treating customers rudely. She is a Hispanic woman who was working the pickup area with brownish blond hair in a ponytail. She doesn't know how to do her job and clearly doesn't want to be there. Since the big sign says "Pick up" there should be someone who helps the customers for pickup orders, not ones that ring up customers for purchases or else it shouldn't be called pickup. This JCPenney location doesn't know how to do their job and I will never shop at this location again. I hope it closes like all the other locations. read more

This JC Penny sits inside Queens Center Mall. Shopping on St. Patrick's Day 2012 with a party of two was a grinding chore. With insufficient designer brand names, the choice is very limited for fashion and style very dated 1980s era. The clothing fits the faces of a historical relic FOSSILS unearth to the 2012 surface. The ladies of JC Penny jewelry dept are the best. They will make sure that you get the need and help you save as much as possible. This location is brighter than others with a broader selection of clothimg and jewelry in the Brooklyn Queens area. I alerted them to the issue of the hours being incorrect and they alerted the manager who was also really nice. I was able to get my new earrings and have a nice visit with the staff. I will say other departments are overwhelmed, rude and checking out can be a small nightmare during great sales. But hey, at least the jewelry department is stellar. read more

There are 4 levels and thusly lots of registers to choose from. Employees are really hit and miss as is merchandise although you can usually find a good sale on whatever you are looking for. Bathrooms could definitely be better and more noticeable. Homewares department could be bigger. I like the children's section as I can usually find great deals on toddler clothing. I've never been in the dressing rooms as I mainly buy shirts from JCPenney. I'm fine with shopping here when it's cold and I don't feel like roaming around Gateway Center. read more

I was picking up an online order, kind gentleman at the first floor who was folding shirts told me where to go. Before I even get to the counter this lady has the nastiest attitude, and complaining about something. I get to the front and tell her I'm picking up something under my mothers name but as soon as the word mother came out she cut me off and just said nooo nooo nooooo. I ask if it has to be her because there was no option to find a second person to pick up. I gave the order number, which I had... and yet she still denied me and was getting impatient talking in Spanish. I accompanied my bestie because she wanted to grab a quick gift for her Staff Christmas Party. She picked the worst day to go shopping for Christmas gifts. This place was mobbed with customers, returns, & bad a** whining children. The lines were atrocious. There were 18 people waiting in a single file to be called over to checkout. There were only two registers open. I was starved. I didn't want to be there. I had a funky attitude. I wanted to be in & out. The cashiers were moving slowly & the customers weren't any better. I'm the type of shopper that has my card, coupons & merchandise readily available once I head to checkout. It's not a game. You would think that more registers would open up to move the line along but no one showed up. No one showed up until "we" (the 15th customer) headed to checkout. Although we were leaving that made me so infuriated. Their help was obviously not needed anymore. Where were the cashiers when we were standing in a single file as if we had a practice fire drill going on. read more

This JCPenney is located on the west wing of queens center mall. This is actually my favorite JCPenney location I've ever been. The staff here is incredibly welcoming and helpful. Normally when you try to return things in most stores the employees seem annoyed but at this JCPenney they are extremely helpful and have very charismatic personalities. This store is also very organized and clean and also has employees walking around to see if they can help you especially reach items that are displayed on the upper side of the walls. They also have great discounts here and items Are much cheaper than most items found in Macy's. If you are looking for a great deal check it out. Also at my recent locate visit they explained that they now have bonus bucks so if you spend 50 you get $10 back for your next purchase. I'm not sure exactly how long that will last but if you can definitely check it out either way because sales are very good there. read more

I read a rather disturbing story about this JcPenney not long ago. Apparently, a shopper was illegally detailed and had her personal property confiscated by a security guard. The item confiscated was NOT something sold at JcPenney. Since reading of this incident, I refuse to give money to this location though will patronize other locations or go to the website. That being said, it's a JcPenney. It's definitely more spacious and has a better selection than the one in Manhattan. I have also never personally experienced rudeness here. This particular location is clean enough and well organized. For true selection, I have found that suburban locations tend to be better. Had I not heard about that ugly & completely illegal incident, I could give this location 3 stars but since I abhor illegal actions and would not react kindly to it myself, I have to knock off a star. read more

Adrianna really messed my hair up. I can't speak for other stylists there but I asked for a trim of about 2-3 inches and got more than 7 inches cut off with dull scissors. I also asked for no layers and she put in crooked layers that don't even make sense with short layers under long layers.I can't even go get it fixed yet because it it so short, that to fix it my hair will be in a bob, and I had hair that almost went down to my waist. I love the deals that they have at the salon on products and that is why I gave 2 stars. This was the worst haircut I've ever gotten in my life. BEWARE! read more

I went to a few stores last night doing some last minute shopping for my trip (tomorrow) and this was the only store where I found things quickly. I walked over to the sale section and they have sooo many nice shirts for around $5-$12. You can't go wrong with that. The staff is friendlier than I thought..security guards at entrance/exit greet you and say goodnight. And if anyone knows the cashier who works on the 2nd floor (Charlotte) you know she is very chatty, and very friendly. This location is definitely easier to navigate than the one in Manhattan Mall. read more

I must say I'm quite disappointed today. Store closes at 9 and it was 7:30pm... was looking for a fitting room for my daughter to try 2 pieces. Some are closed down and I found one that the line was too long. So I went to kids dept fitting room and the lady was putting her cart to block entrance. I was like u closed? She say yeah. I asked where can i have my daughter to try clothes. Oh go downstairs. I said I just came from down there. Then there was a long pause. Then she started mumbling and pouting like she was about to cry... i just left the clothes there and walked off. Never had experienced that in this jcpenny. I stood in line that said "customer service" for a good 10 minutes to pick up a package, to be told that it's the other line that I was previously standing on for another 10 minutes. I really like JCPenney but the customer service at this location leaves much to be desired. Went in today to buy a suitcase towards evening time so the store was pretty quiet. Browsed the suitcase section but didn't see the brand I needed. So I went to the customer service area and asked one person if they had Travel Pros. The man looked at me like I had 5 heads. The woman knew what I was talking about and said yes we do they're around the corner. I told her I looked pretty thoroughly but didn't see them. She directed me where I just was and said oh we have them. So I walk back to the section (alone) thinking I must just be blind or stupid. Well guess what? Still no Travel Pros. I see a sales associate walking near me and ask her where they are. She said she doesn't work in this section but she was nice enough to go to customer service and ask them where they were. So she goes back to where I just was, asks where the bags are and the woman working in CUSTOMER SERVICE (hence the name) still won't walk the 50 feet to the bags and tells this sales associate to help me. The sales associate couldn't find them either. So at this point I'm finished. I went to Macy's and got the bag I needed. There were zero customers there and even the sales associate said it's the customer service's woman's job to walk over and help me. So not only did she not know they were clearly out of Travel Pro bags, she didn't do her job. And if they did indeed have them, then Macy's got the business instead. Oh and on my way out I passed the man who looked at me like I had 5 heads and he didn't even ask if I found everything I was looking for. They do not care about their customers. read more

I want to review JCPenney online but these sites are for brick and mortar businesses so I picked one at random. I just had to cancel a $1000 order because of the incompetent shippers they use. I honestly don't know what was worse...dealing with the incompetent shippers themselves, or the "supervisors" who simply cancelled the order instead of trying to at least intervene and save the sale. Last week, before I ran into this shipping debacle, I spent a few hundred on curtains in one of their stores. I will never shop at Penney's in store, or online again. The first time I chanced on this store in 2010 I was not so impressed. The display were unkept and unorganized. Some items were left lying on the floor and nobody seemed to attend to them. If one need something because of the unfamiliarity of the location of the items needed nobody can attend to. The whole place seemed to be in a mess and disorderly. Those pants and other items after being unfolded by shoppers were not folded back by store staff , but I found them to be scarce. Lately, in December of 2012, I came back to the store to shop for some items for Christmas gift . To my great surprise i was so amazed of the significant changes of the store. The shelves are well-organized and the items are beautifully arranged. There is enough space for shopper to go back and forth on the alley of each section. All over the place are the sales ladies who are eager to serve customers. One can spend less time in looking for the items he/she needed because all the sections are well organized and the signage and labels are conspicuously hanged or strategically located. The items sold for clearance sale are not that outmoded ones. There are now a good number of signature items that can satisfy ones taste.One need not hop to other stores because it has a wide line of products that can answer ones needs. I'm happy with the makeover introduced in the store which give convenience and satisfaction of the shoppers. The innovation in the store operation has benefited a lot of shoppers. read more

The staff at this location discriminated against my mother and my aunt because they do not speak English. This was so heartbreaking and frustrating, they were just trying to get some help. I hate that in this space I have also felt neglected, in the makeup department there was nasty and pompous staff who left me standing around forever only looking at me to roll their eyes.
