Then I stood in a long line for 15 minutes only to be told that returns have to be taken to the second floor. I go to the second floor, that is even more junky and in disarray, looking for a "returns" sign nowhere to be found. Penny's was having a sale online and I came here to pick up my stuff. I didn't really have time to look through the store, but from what I was able to briefly check out, there wasn't too much there, and what was there was discounted. The Sephora looked to be pretty stocked, and I dug how they have created measures to ensure everyone's safety by having selected entry and exit points. Regarding online orders, the pick-up area is on the second floor, the same place where they handle returns. When I first came upstairs, there was a fairly long line, and one person behind the register. They have places on the floor directing people where to stand, and plexiglass between the the workers and the customers. My order was there as expected, I was asked to check it prior to leaving to make sure it was correct and provided a paper receipt. When I came back a couple of days later to return, I didn't have any issues getting my money back, despite having made my payment with Paypal online. Every time that I interacted with someone within the store, be it a customer service person, or someone to simply ask a question regarding the location of something, they were polite and helpful. As I was leaving, they made an announcement regarding closing at 7p. No problems here. read more

Don't even think of ordering anything requiring delivery from this unmanaged company. I order two components. First they tried to deliver one without the other which is a non-starter. Then for a week they send a message late in the day saying delivery will be in the morning and no one shows. Late in the morning they then say delivery in the afternoon. All by computer bots with no one answering the ;phone at the delivery firm. Today the sales person finally got through and they said they still do not have the seconds piece of the order. read more

I recently purchased a STERN & AFOSTER mattress from JCP, when the mattress was delivered to my home it was soiled, in 3 different places, I called JCP for more than a week and they refused to give me a discount to have it cleaned, I was advised by JCP to return the mattress and place a new order, this was done, the new order came and the mattress again had the same soiled marks on it, I refused the mattress and cancelled the order. I believe this mattress was in the JCP showroom becasue when I went there to look at different ones I saw that same stain on a few mattresses in the showroom. It is so disgusting a company like JCP will deliver a mattress in that condition knowing that the customer have to sleep on the mattress, and its not something you can wash, the customer service reps were so rude and unwilling to work with me, they promised to call me back and to date have not, its now going on 2 months going through this process, (The only person that followed up with me and was very understanding was the salesperson PETRINA she gave me her cell no and was calling me, but there is not much she can do, I have placed an order with the manufacturer Stern & Foster and have to wait another two weeks for delivery, I do nt presently have a mattress on my bed. I have pics to prove it so does the delivery company, as they are the ones that first pointed out the dirty mattress to me, but said they are just delivering so they could not have refused to do the delivery. JC & Penney is another one of those American institutions whose fall has baffled me. School shopping here in the 1990s was not really exciting for me. I wanted Nautica, Polo Sport and Tommy Hilfiger and outside of the Silver Tab Levi's at JC Penney's, I didn't care for too much else. Fast forward 20 years and wanting a Levi's denim jacket, I wasn't going to go to Urban Outfitters, I was going to keep it trill and hit up the JC Penney in Forestville. In the past 20 years Levi's has come back but not JC Penney. I arrived early, expecting to be only soul here on a Saturday morning. When I pulled up, there store hadn't opened but there were about 10 to 12 people waiting to get in. A much better sign than the parking lot in need of painting. I essentially just parked far away from the door because I didn't want to park ugly trying to adhere to long faded line. When I got to the Men's section, I couldn't believe my eyes. I spotted two things that surprised me. JC Penney carries Champion gear and a lot of it and the entire section was in complete and utter disarray. Champion is hot in the streets right now and I was thinking, "Why isn't Penny's promoting this more. Out-of-touch." Personally, I am more of a Russell man myself but I am down for folks having their fun. After hanging up stuff that I am certain I didn't knock over I found the denim jackets. I found one, took into the darkened fitting room and tried on the jacket. I wanted to try on another one of the same size but this other gentleman who had the same idea as me took the other one as I was in the fitting room. I wanted to try it on because the sizes on the tags didn't varied from coat to coat. Just like the Levi brand stuff they used to sell at A&N if you are familiar with that store. R.I.P. I got want I wanted out of Penney's so my early morning trip wasn't a failed mission. Hopefully this trip wasn't a deathbed visit and they can bounce back because there's strength in variety. Let this sink in for a moment, we bought this couch (a three piece sectional in September of 2015 for $2,400 (it was manufactured or better yet assembled in Mississippi in August of 2015) and delivered to us in October of 2015. It is now 03/24/2018 and she has broken down tremendously in less than 3 years. According to JCPenney's this purchase was not covered up to this point as "we should have bought a 5-year warranty". Do not ever buy anything from JCPenney's ever again. They are hiding behind poor quality standards and have lowered their expectations as a result of outsourcing and expect you to do the same while paying the high prices for their goods. What a sham people! Sad but no one stands behind their merchandise anymore and you do better ordering online from someone else. They all share the same warehousing and shipping standards as many of these processes have been standardized by the same groups. So what you find on JCPenney's site or in store is the exact same merchandise sitting in a third party warehouse. You just have to make sure that it is insured. I will now be publishing this information to every site to show why not to shop there with these people. read more

JC Penney has made a huge comeback in my eyes! They are always having great deals and I have found most of them online, I have even had things sent to the store for pick up so I can browse around. I really wanted some bar stools but they don't sell the ones I want anymore. I'm hoping they make a comeback but until then I will still get my occasional fix. I think the staff has been revamped too! They are super nice and actually smile! Way to go JCPenney! read more

Honestly the Jcpenny in Forestville has to have some of the worse customer service. I never write reviews but i just had to. The manager she was very rude. I asked a question and she said she couldn't do it, with an attitude. I have been to other retail stores and never dealt with customer service this bad. read more

Let me start off by saying, DO NOT go to this location during the holidays. And I'm not saying that because Forestville is ghetto. The ghetto doesn't bother me. I say DO NOT go there during the holiday because there is literally NO ONE there to help you check out. There was 1 cashier in the whole entire store but 500 sales associates. We stood in line behind one other person for 15 minutes and the 1 person that was in front of us complained to have been waiting for 30-40 minutes! It is getting close to the holidays. The 2 woman behind us told us that they were waiting at a register downstairs for 10 minutes before someone told them that the only register ringing was the one that was upstairs (where I was). To put the topping on the cake the sales associate in the home section (who was really nice) helped us but we got up to the register and the cashier tried to charge us full price for 2 items that were in the sale section! My grandmother showed the cashier the sign and where she picked the 2 items up with all of the like items same brand and all and she still would not honor the price! One of the women behind us went to get a manager but NO ONE showed up! So if you go to this location GOOD LUCK! read more

Delay in receiving my receipt for an online purchase resulted in my visiting the store for pickup, Forestville, Maryland, to find out whether the transaction went through (more than 2 hours before the store closed). By the time I arrived, I finally received a receipt while standing in line at the store's upper leve. However, when I spoke to the floor supervisor, she told me to return the next day to pickup the item because it hadn't processed yet. THE ITEM WAS JUST INCHES FROM US IN THE STORE BECAUSE I TRIED TO PURCHASE IT IN THE STORE THE DAY BEFORE BUT WAS TOLD TO LEAVE AND ORDER ONLINE, WHICH I DID. To avoid having to make yest a third trip to the store, I asked if the supervisor would approve the online price so that I could take the in-store item with me, a mere difference of maybe $15 dollars. She merely responded by saying the item had not been processed yet. I will be returning both items which totaled more than $200 in sales. The customer service toll-free number is no better. The phone representative could not even find the identifying order phone number. Hmmm, I wonder why the automated service was able to find it. An enormous waste of time and energy and no regard for the customer experience. I will do my best never to shop there ever again! read more

On 7/6/18 around 3:30 pm I went to purchase 2 shirts from the women department store. I went to the customer service line to purchase my items when I approached the register. I spoke to a customer service agent name "Tiffany". She ranged up my items and told me the total. I informed her that the items where on sale for 50% off. Instead of checking to see if this was correct she then told me "That the final price mama". I exited out of the line and went to where I found the shirts in the store and took a picture of the sale sign then went back to show her. Instead of apologizing and ringing me up she gave me a very nasty attitude and told me to just "hurry up". She also tried to NOT to ring me up and take a lunch break so that she would not have to help me but the other employee informed her that she could take her break after helping me. I am ok with her making a mistake but her attitude was hurtful and nasty. She also talked nasty about me as I was leaving the store. read more
