I scheduled 2 appointments for my family and I to take photos. My mother passed on Wednesday and my brothers are all in town for her celebration of life. JCPenney did not have any appointments for greater than 7 people, so I booked 2 appointments back to back in hopes that we could break our family into 2 groups. I received a confirmation for the 3:15 appointment, but nothing for the 2:30 appointment. After church I called the portrait studio to confirm the appointments. I spoke to a manager called Alan. I let him know I was just confirming my appointment. He told me that he would be unable to allow me to have the sessions because there's an event. He told me that he just works here and I'd have take that up with corporate. I told him that I had not received a phone call to confirm or cancel my appointments and that my mother just died. He told me that he has no control and that he would now be canceling both of my appointments. I drove to the store to ask in person and to explain the sensitivity of the issue as again... my mother died and my family was only visiting. As I was coming into the store I saw a person with an apron that read Alan (the name of the individual I spoke to on the phone). I told him I was the person he just spoke to on the phone and I asked him why he spoke to me the way he did on the phone and why he canceled my appointments. He told me to get out of his face. I told him again, my mother just died and I just wanted to take photos with my family. He stated that he did not give a damn who just died. He then said I could meet him the parking lot. This interaction was recorded. I went to the photo studio. Another manager came up and introduced himself as Josh. I played the video of Alan verbally threatening me. He stated to me that because Alan canceled my appointment he would be unable to allow me or my family to take photos today. The manager then proceeded to tell me that the chairs outside the photo studio were designated for paying customers and that my family and I would need to collect our belongings and move to another area. I pushed back and told him I was waiting for the police to file a police report for the verbal assault. He then backed down, but not before calling another manager and telling them that he supported Alan's decision not to allow me or my family to take photos today. The time is now 1:44. There is not a single customer in the photo studio area. It is completely desolate with the exception of my family and I. read more

I was looking for 3 suits for my groomsmen, I had a guy "help" me who said he was the "manger". He was very unprofessional he looked as if he just rolled out of bed at 12 noon... wrinkled button up shirt, jeans and muddy nike shoes.. I know this isn't a gucci store but if he really is the "manger" why wouldn't he dress the part.. after 10 minutes with this guy playing on his phone he started making smart remarks and acting like he didn't really want to help bcz "I was being to picky" (his words) and taking to much time to pick three suits I asked him if he was having a bad day he replied by walking off.. I didn't buy the suits there, went to park plaza mall I recommend doing the same. read more

I went to JcPenney Salon twice. The main reason is because I like that they're the only salon open late in the evenings, so it's easy to schedule around work. Also, the cost is slightly lower than the average salon and I haven't been impressed with any of the so-called "high-end" salons in Little Rock. The first time I tried the hair styling services. It was easy to set up an appointment. The stylist did an okay job with the blowout.Results were as expected, nothing special. She took a bit longer than expected--the appointment took about 1 hour for just a wash + blowout (no cut). No scalp massage with the wash. She also brought the blow drier too close to my scalp a few times so I had to tell her a few times that she was burning my scalp. Otherwise she was friendly and apologetic. JcPenney charges different amount for each service depending on the skill level (out of 3 levels) of the stylist. My stylist was a level 1 so maybe that's why she was a bit slow. Also, I think that only level 1 stylists are available late in the evenings. The second time I tried the nail services. I scheduled an appointment in advance, and again it was easy to set one up. However, when I arrived at my appointment the lady who was supposed to do my mani/pedi said that someone should have called me to inform me that she could not do my pedi due to a cut on her hand. I was upset because I had to attend a wedding the next day, but no one had called me. After some clarification, she then said that she could paint my toe nails but she just couldn't do the spa part and could discount the cost to make up for that. I was excited to try the Opi Gelcolor since the last time I was at the salon I was told that it would last up to two weeks. I wrongly assumed that it would be similar to Shellac gel. This lady took about 1 hour on my Opi gel mani/ped and did a decent job. I was first disappointed that she could not trim my cuticles because the trimmer was broken. She painted my nails pretty well... I would just say that she left a larger gap than normal between the end of my nail bed and the cuticle. Most importantly, I was so disappointed that a large chunk of the polish on 2 of my fingernails chipped within the next 12 hrs.. yup before the wedding. If I hadn't gotten a discount for not having a complete pedi spa the whole thing would have cost me $57+tip. Definitely not worth it for something that can't even last for 1 day. I called the salon when I flew back into Little Rock after the wedding to ask if there was just something wrong with the Opi gelcolor and the person who picked up said that I would have to call back the next day to speak with the manager and see if they could redo it. She couldn't promise that it would last longer though, so I thought it wouldn't be worth the time and trouble. read more

Recently ordered 2 roman shades from this store. The clerk didn't seem to know a whole lot about their computer system. In any case, we indicated we wanted valances for both shades. However, the order was placed WITHOUT VALANCES. I agree we should have looked at the order more closely. We wrongly assumed she knew what she was doing. Also, don't even think about trying to call and talk to someone, including the operator, because no one will answer the phone. read more

I recently visited the salon at JC Penney and I couldn't be happier. Chris Smith did an amazing job. I was able to trust him to make recommendations on the color and cut. He went out of his way to may sure that I was comfortable with his choices. He was very friendly and easy to talk to. I would recommend Chris at JC Penney to anyone with salon needs.
