Yesterday12/22/25 So, we go to the one in Rosedale Mall in Minnesota, but we happen to stop at the one in Maplewood Mall. My husband and I were shopping for grand kids and 1 great grandbaby. The kids wanted shoes and watches so really there were a few customers about 20 or 25. Anyways we made to the shoe department, and we started with the girls and of course my husband he needed help anyways we got all the girl's shoes and I mention to my husband we need a buggy so I found one took me a few minutes when I turned around and I see this guy starry at me did not think nothing of it. So, I went where my husband was put all the boxes of shoes in buggy and we started with the boy's shoes all of sudden I see the same guy again I told my husband we are being watched by this fake security guy he goes yea I know. So pretty much mush we were being followed. This guy was like a leash So, we were done in this department, and we took the elevator down to go get the great grand baby clothes and watches for the kids then my husband tells me there's another fake security guy on your left I said what the effing shit it this. This was the most uncontrollable experience that we ever had we are in our 60s what the hell we don't have to steal we have jobs. These two idiots they were like LEASHES. At one point i was going to say something but I would be wasting my time. Then we go to cash out and there's no cashiers in front or the back we had to go to the Sephora makeup area oh my goodness, :( Let me give you a tip on your security have them dress neat clothes and not walk like clowns. 0 star if I can rate this business. Very poor customer service. The cashier was rude and disrespectful. There was only one register on the lower level and the cashier was not friendly at all. The customer before me asked if she can pay her JC penny card there and the cashier told her to go upstairs, but she ended up taking the customer's payment anyways. She didn't want to do her job nor did she act like she cared. Why do they hire people like this and not see a problem at all? A smile goes a long way.... Train your workers with basic customers service skills if you're going to hire them!!! The dressing rooms were also messy at the beginning of the store opening. The workers act like they don't want to work there. One manager came and did apologize after I stated my complaints. We waited over 45 minutes for check out. This business is going to close down soon. I can foresee this and wouldn't be surprised. Worst customer service I have ever experienced at a department store. Kohls and Macys are in the same mall and I did not experience this over at their stores. Good bye JCPenny! read more

I don't normally shop here but I don't say I Would ever. I came to look t there clothes and it looked like a pack of wolfs ran through it be grabbed th the clothes like they were toys. They clothes were all over the place. I don't like how very thing was placed. Not to be rude or anything I dislike how an 8 year old can wear the same clothes as a 16 year old girl. The section said 7-16 in that time. Lot changes you are in high school and middle school there is phases with closes and I would be EMBARRASSED if an 7 year old was wearing the same clothes as a girl in her second year of high school. We are regular JC Penny shoppers and this might be the first time I felt the need to rate JC Penny because we recently had such great service at this store. We usually receive an average or less than average customer service experience at a JC Penny. This store must be doing something different because all of their sales associate went out of their way to be pleasant and assist us. They greeted us coming into the store and did the same as we walked out. Marsha from the Kids Zone, was very pleasant willing to assist us with our inquiries and purchases. Friend and I ran in quick to buy two things...the checkout downstairs was about 15 people long so we went to the jewelry counter where the girl was just standing there with nothing to do. Asked if she could check us out and she said she could only check out jewelry purchases. We asked where the other checkouts were. They literally have one checkout downstairs and one upstairs. Went upstairs and that line was even worse! Left our items there and left. You think (especially around Christmas) there would be more than 2 checkouts. Won't go back. read more

Great place to shop at, also their restroom is fantastic! Such a peaceful place to take a poo. Automatic flushing toilets were a great add on along with the air conditioning! read more

I shop at JC Penney's, well, hardly ever. No offense to people who shop there often. I just always think of it as a place that I went to when I was younger. However, last week when I was at Maplewood Mall, I found myself walking in to see if they carried earrings. SURPRISE, SURPRISE, they had some really cute earrings. And it was all on sale! I guess I'll have to wander in there a little more often! read more

I really like this location. I like the fact that their men's department is well organized and I can find what I'm looking for. Staff seemed cheerful and very helpful. It's become my go to place for menswear. read more
