This time around, I came to look for a pair of shoes after browsing FootLocker and not finding anything I wanted. The shoe section was a little messy and didn't have ALL of the sizes...but magically had mine so no harm there. Had the ABSOLUTE worst experience, waiting in line. My daughter and I were the last ONES who were left in the line after waiting a while. Then, the employee just leaves and left us standing in line, no, "sorry I'm closed" or "I'll be back" or "someone else will come help". NOTHING, just left and I had to get in line for the return items to tell the other lady who was there. Just for the other employee in the return register to completely dismiss my experience. No explanation, no apology. The young cashier who left is a young Asian girl, and the lady at the return register is an older chicana Hispanic. They were working by the shoe department. I went to have full blond highlights. Root smudge, and cut. Mika was completely incompetent and destroyed my hair. She applies highlights then brown hair dye to roots obviously it washed into my blond highlights she reapplied more same process toned realized she messed up so did a bleach wash to attempt to fix it. My hair turned out so bad that I called out of work the following day out of pure embarrassment! It's so over processed and damaged I'm going to have to spend more money on treatments before I can even pay another stylist to fix my hair. I went back to salon following day to request full refund as I paid 330. They refused insisting another stylist fix it the following day. When I stated my hair can't tolerate more chemicals because of her negligence in over processing she offered a free conditioning.. it's SCARY THAT THE SALON MANAGER IS SO ILL TRAINED AND EDUCATED THAT SHE WOULD ATTEMPT TO CONVINCE ME IT WAS SAFE TO RE HIGHLIGHT MY HAIR 24 hours after it was already super over processed!! Ref: JC Penney Store #494, Merced CA In April 2025 went to JCPenney's and the women's & men's clothing sections were rearranged in a very neat and organized fashion, however May2025 that was not the case. It now resembles a Thrift shop, more so on the women's section. Clothes racks are in the aisles, clothes thrown on the display tables, a lot of clothes just piled up everywhere. Maybe shipment of clothes were sent to this store from other JC Penney stores that closed, but won't be going there much...too junky. Plus the quality of clothes too substandard. read more

She took great care in combing through the color to assure that all the "shaved hair" was colored. I would go to her again. I was at the shoe department for a good twenty minutes waiting for someone to help me look for the correct shoe size but as you can see in the pictures that department lacks customer service. I went towards the back to see if anyone was there, I can hear laughs in the back of the room but as soon as I said excuse me they stopped and stayed quiet. Do not take your children to the portrait studio in this JCPenny. My daughter and my friends kid got attacked by mosquitoes while they were taking picts. Both ladies in the studio saw the mosquitoes and did nothing about it. After our kids got attacked they proceeded with their next appt that was a 6 month baby. They should have closed the studio and did something about their problem. I got a call from the studio offering me a 15% discount off of our next visit. SERIOUSLY why would I ever go back? the quality is terrible..i've purchased two belts with in a year, it appeared that they were stitched that was not the case! they were glued. since then (like the fool i am) i purchased 4 pairs of shorts since late july and all four pair had the buttons disappear after one outing on one pair the the next three pair came off..with my sewing skills i have four pairs of buttonless shorts.. i'm tired of overseas call centers as i've been hung up on because they couldn't understand me. go AMAZON..although they sell pro meth shirts..but that's a story for a different time.. read more

Went to the salon today for a perm, the girl I normally use wasn't there so I had Christine, She was very nice but did a poor job on rolling, The perm is so loose even hand curling it wouldn't hold, Paid $60 for a perm that is beauty school at best. Wont go back unless the girl i normally use is there to do it. She always does a excellent job and the curls are tight. read more

Hair Salon Barbara is the only one I can say something nice about. Brought my son in today for a trim. Stylist didn't listen to what I asked for my son began to cry and stylist then said she couldn't finish. She thankfully didn't have us pay. I walked In and was ready for a wait. But they started me off fast enough with deep conditioning and was done with it in 20-30mins. As the gal helping me had another appt. I was ok when she said someone else will do my blow dry. So another dresser started me off but It took this gal an hour and half to just blow dry and she did not even listen to me and turned me away from the mirror so i thought she was curling my hair like I asked but she just straightened it. Yes she told me it was her first day and so I thought she was slow. If u don't even hear to what the customer says. Maybe this is not the job for you. And also she straightened my hair with the blow dry but I had to show her all these spot where I still had waves. The worst way I ever got a blow dry was here. read more

HORRIBLE! I went in to look for some shoes for an upcoming wedding and I was rudely told by the lady in the department, " You need to get in line before we help you." when I was just standing there waiting to ask if I could try on a pair of shoes. When I finally got help the lady went and got the shoes. After I gave them back she just took them and left without giving me an opportunity to ask for another size. I also would have expected her to ask if I needed help with anything else. I am very disappointed with how I was treated. I was treated so rudely my boyfriend and I both left and went somewhere else to buy shoes. If I was greeted kindly, and treated with some respect I would have spent my money there. They should try hiring people that actually WANT to work, and be kind. read more

With this type of customer service I'm not surprised this company is in the process of closing.
