This is a fairly large store located inside Lakeside Mall. They run great sales and specials. and issue coupons regularly. Thanks to their advertised savings I end up here a few times a year. This week it was to purchase an end of the year teacher gift. I was looking for a beach towel at a reasonable price. Well, I found the towels and they were more than I wanted to spend. A manager saw me contemplating making the purchase just to be done and get myself home, and offered assistance. He told me that with their app I would get an additional discount. I downloaded it on the spot. Now to check out. This is my biggest gripe when it comes to Penney's. There are only a couple of cashier stations on each floor, and on this visit they were all backed up. It was ridiculous. The 2 ladies at the station I chose seemed overwhelmed and it took forever!! I eventually made my way to the front of the very slow moving line and checked out. The cashiers were both friendly and I was done. Pluses: low prices due to coupons and sales, a small Sephora inside the store, a nice selection of workout attire at decent prices, their own restrooms. I'll be back, but I sure wish they'd add a few more manned registers. read more

Please, for the love of goodness, do not go to the salon here. I came in to get my roots done and my hair toned. The picture of me looking beautiful is me before I went in. The picture of me looking like a hag is when I came out. I said I wanted to keep my hair golden blonde but to have it toned to remove just a little more of the orange. They made me pay $110 for this, which is only 30% off. Who gets paid to mess up someones hair? They want me to come back in for another color. No thanks. This is the second time Penney's has ruined my hair. I opened a credit account because I anticipated coming to the salon regularly. I guess I'll wait to pay off my $110 hair disaster then close it. read more

If you want a one-sie in a holiday theme, this is your place. If you want something just a second past its moment of popularity, this is your place. If you want those shoes that were popular last year, this is your place. Now, I am not knocking the quality, as everything here seems to be made well and of good quality material, they just do not seem to have the most current fashions available. It is a bit overpriced for the belated styles, and the employees just seem a bit too tired. The fitting rooms could use some attention. My most recent visit here a few weeks ago (November 2017), there were not that many employees on the sales floor to assist customers, but I did find two female employees gossiping in the fitting rooms, so you may want to check there if you need assistance. I have worked retail myself, and never would have been allowed to do that at all, but times have changed. I'm not too sure that the sales are spectacular enough to deem it worthy to come here. The Macy's and the Dillard's at this mall are so much better. read more

I visited the hair salon inside on the main level (close to Dillard's). My stylist was LaToya, who was outstanding! Plus, She was able to accommodate a same-day appointment for an up-do. Sweet! From the moment I arrived, LaToya was kind and helpful with suggestions for my hairstyle. She was gentle but gave my hair & scalp a wonderfully strong scrubbing. She was precise in her style execution and paid great attention to detail. I left feeling quite satisfied with my style! This Penny's location is one of the larger locations in the area. Located in Lakeside mall, you have several floors of stuff to chose from. This location has a pretty good selection of men's clothing, including a large (pun intended) big and tall section. My one complaint is that this location gets very crowded. I guess that is good for business, but it makes shopping more difficult. In addition, the large mall concept seems to be going away. The more modern stores seem to be in strip mall format and cover only one floor. They don't have as much, but are far more convenient. read more

Just left this store, and unfortunately my 88 yr old mother and I had a ghastly experience. The bathroom is deplorable! She tried the first stall, and it was filled with ? Second stall, poo in it; third stall unclean, but better so she used it. She came out to wash her hands, and while she was washing, someone in another stall flushed the toilet and I watched as sewer water came up from beneath the floor, and through the drain near the washing station where she was standing! In seconds, her cloth shoes, socks, and the bottom of her pants soaked in the sewer water! We were both very upset about this unsanitary occurrence! I called to report the incident, and when I asked to speak to a supervisor, the representative agreed, but I was put on hold for a long time and was disconnected. read more

Out-of-date styles, overpriced merchandise for what it is, sometimes rude staff, etc. I know, they have been trying to update their pricing strategy, but to be honest, I liked it better before. For what it is, Lakeside serves it's purpose well. However when you compare it to shopping malls in other cities, Lakeside quickly becomes a carryover relic of the 80's. Hallways are very congested, and parking is terrible. And don't even think about shopping here around holiday season (or when the Mardi Gras parades are rolling on Vets) You're better off heading to Kenner and going to the Esplanade. read more

Surprising JCPennies has become one of my favorite stores. The prices are always fair and they always have nice sales going on. However, I am doing a personal review on a sales clerk in the women's department who went out of her way to help me. I needed an Easter outfit and found A tan linen pant set that I really loved. I was a little low on finances at the time and was hoping that I could get it as I hadn't planned on buying anything that day. She told me how to go online and pull up a coupon which made it affordable enough for me to purchase. She did not have to take her time out to help me. I truly appreciate her kindness, her name is ANA she was very kind and patient and I believe she deserves recognition you don't run into that every day so thank you JCPenney for hiring ANA she made my day. read more

If you are looking for some thing a bit out of style, not flashy, but cheap, this could be your place. They have cool gift items, and just what you need to keep your teen daughter clothed appropriately. In summary, they clearance items regularly. Wait for the sales. Most days you can hear people coughing, and there will be half drunk bottles of liquid with no labels or sweaty cups in the dressing rooms. Be prepared to wait in horrendous lines with screaming kids and people haggling at the register trying to use an expired coupon. Most of the time, the cashiers type very fast and then the register protests at their attempt to project a modicum of competency, and it rejects whatever information they put in. You will feel the urge to place your head on the counter as you wonder if the pile of $3.00 shirts and $6.00 pants are worth you wasting another minute of your life in there. OR, you could hit the jackpot, and breeze in and out. Of course, you could also get struck by lightning on your way out of the door too. read more

Lakeside was one of the first 2 malls in the GNO area. And sometimes you can see it's 70s roots, but mostly the decor and the cleanliness of the mall is right on time. My biggest gripe is that as the most successful mall in the GNO area it is almost always crowded. read more

1st - Dressing room was cluttered with clothes on hooks and on floor. Dressing room was full of dust bunnies in the corners and under stool and filthy walls, doors and carpet. Door didn't even catch to stay closed as well as in did not even lock. 2nd - There was no air circulating. I could tell that the air conditioning was working because when it came on my sweat made me shiver. I was with my sister, which has restricted mobility, and I watched sweat dripping off her hair line and making her soaked in sweat. Had it not been a dire need for an outfit and a desire to get shopping over with, we would have left sooner. Very disappointed in JC Penney's at Lakeside Shopping Center in Metairie, LA and would like to hear back from Management on a proactive plan that they have put into place. (i.e. turning air conditioning to a proper degree to accommodate their customers and at the minimum, daily cleaning their dressing rooms) Definitely wanted others to hear about this HORRIFIC experience! read more

Crowds are not fun in this designated choice of mall for shoppers. Be prepared to bitch, scratch, step, and argue w/ the walking patrons here. Run of the mill housewives, snarky teens, and an infinite amount of posers all flock here..... Parking is a pain in the butt as well - they take over one section and construct overhead parking garage (see closest to food court). The end result is LONG but useful: three levels to hold cars. But be careful: parking can result into fighting and keying of cars (stupid bitch keyed my car....) A&F, Hollister, Gap, M-A-C, Banana, Williams Sonoma, JCrew, Dillards etc.....small but condensed shopping....Go on weekdays!!!!! read more

I think, just maybe, Lakeside finally has enough parking! With the addition of the new parking garage attached to the new Macy's parking was a breeze when we ran to the mall tonight. The Dillard's has been totally remodeled (I'm sure they has to do that to attempt to keep pace with the new Macy's), the aforementioned new Macy's, as well as other new stores in the mall (Apple!) and some stores are currently remodeling. Lakeside sure isn't like the malls in Houston or anything like that for my favorite for the New Orleans area! read more

If you need an eye exam, go see the doctor here. This is not a joke; I happened to stumble upon it looking for the bathroom because it's hidden way in the back on the second floor. There is an eye doctor in JCPENNEY. He gives the best eye exams too. I've been getting eye exams and contacts lenses for over 20 years and I didn't know what poor service I had been getting before or how bad I was seeing. 1) I see much more clearly now. He even showed me what I should see like through the new prescription on a special frame he put on me. It was WAY clearer than the glasses I got just a few months ago from Walmart. I told those Walmart people it wasn't clear too. They said just wear it you'll get used to it. Man they hustled me. 2) He is very thorough. He discussed and explained to me minor issues about my eyes and what I could do to solve the issue before it becomes a problem without going to get expensive medicine. 3) He taught me about how to properly use contact lenses. As I said before, I have been wearing contacts for over 20 years and now I know how to properly wear them. My previous doctors NEVER even mentioned half the stuff this guy did. This doctor also let me try a few different brands until one felt comfortable and I saw clearly. No other doctor has ever done that with me. They just said put these in have a nice day... This guy cares about what he does and he's good at it. I HIGHLY recommend him, he's a young Asian dude and introduced himself but I forgot his name. Sorry, it's not a typical American name that's easy to remember. As long as he is still there though, this is my new eye place. The front staff was alright, they were friendly but could try to be more attentive to the customers and know their products a little better like the doctor. Who would have known... an eye doctor in JCPennys. They should put up commercials and let people know. If people knew about this place, it would put Lens Crafters, Walmart, Eye Masters etc out of business. read more

Review on the studio department. I encourage you to bring someone if allowed to sit in with you to tell you if you need to make adjustments. Went in for simple photos and was not impressed with the young lady. I beleive you can give a 5 year old a camera and they could have done a better job than she did. Obviously she had no experience. Today was a wonderful day! JCPenney, Dillards, Macy's...all were having killer sales. Jeans for $10, shirts for $3...yeah, that was great. Name brands stuff too. I really had to ruffle through every thing that was present in order to find anything that was really worth buying. I would say about 90% of the inventroy is crap. You know what I mean, those clothes that you see someone wearing and then just burst out laughing. With so many stores, I made a pretzel stop and enjoyed a bit of a show at the pretzel stand as a customer decided she wanted to over react at the Pretzel employees. Apparently one of them asked her child to behave -- God forbid. All I know is that it was amusing to watch and amusing to find that people are truly the same no matter where you are. read more

This is one my favorite places to shop sales. I always seem to find great things on clearance in all of the departments. I especially love the Juniors section and the Home section, they are just fabulous. There usually is a great stock of new items as well, although I don't ever buy anything unless it's on sale or clearance. If I could change one thing it would be the shoe department. They really need to either expand it or add more up to date styles. Every time I go check out what they have to offer in Shoes, it looks like Geriatrics Camp in on a field trip or something. The shoes themselves are, for the most part, ugly and old-ladyish. Even the guys section is lacking in taste and style. Everything else in this store is great though. I will continue to go back time and time again and buy up all of the clearance items! read more

I usually get that DMV feeling while waiting in line to check out at JC Penney's, but today more so than ever. Two children in line behind me kept stepping on my feet/hitting my legs. The mom weakly told them to stop, which they would, for about 10 seconds. When I tried to move away from them, the sales associate hollered at me several times to step behind some invisible line so I wouldn't be in the way of "traffic," of which there was none. I did not appreciate being yelled at for stepping out of line when I was only trying to protect my legs/feet/fragile sanity. I especially did not appreciate being forced back near the human windmills and their ineffective parent. The whole insufferable experience reminded me of how much I love just ordering from Amazon. Was going to give one star for the rude, unsympathetic sales associate, but decided to give an extra star because I like their handbag selection. That still won't lure me back, though. read more

There was an associate talking to another and when i went up to ask her where the bathroom was, the bitch straight didn't even look at me and was just pointing. Id felt like knocking the weave off her and drop the guy she was talking to. I said great customer service and she scoffed and the guy stared at me until I asked him what the f**k he was looking at.
