The wait time even with an appointment is extremely long. The staff wasn't helpful outside of Trevor who I had to call directly.

Only giving 2 stars because the photographer himself was great. We used the Frisco location for our photos. Got zero notifications that my photos were ready. Had to reach out on my own. Then ZERO coupons are able to be used on outdoor sessions. Had anyone let me know that I would have just booked an indoor session. Decided to get christmas photos with my best friend so we scheduled an appointment at 5:30. we showed up at 5:15 for check in then had to wait until 6:50 to actually take our photos. it seemed like they were prioritizing walk ins over appointments because everyone there that actually had an appointment had been waiting for 1-2 hours. the photos went good it literally took 4 minutes to shoot then we had to wait again just to see our pictures. ended up being $209 just to have them emailed to us. the photos were cute but overall for the time and how they came out it's nowhere near 200 dollars. though it was fun to do and everyone was nice i wouldn't recommend. read more

Needed headshots done for work, I have never gotten them done before and honestly had high hopes as I just needed ONE good photo. I didn't know what to expect, but my pictures are terrible. The guy was super nice, and kept apologizing because he was new. However, in the one picture I actually semi liked, my arms look so very awkward and I cannot use that for work. We had an appointment on a Thursday evening at 5:30 pm that we couldn't move the time because they had nothing else open. We got there around 5:10 pm. There were 10 people in our party including 1 elder and 2 kids. When we got there there was a line and we didn't check in until 5:40pm. After waiting for over an hour, I asked how long and he said 15 minutes. There were 3 appointments ahead of us and they were taking 45 minutes on average to sell the packages. They made appointments every 15 minutes and the place was full. This clearly shows that theres no respect for anyone's time. Alec was our photographer and tried to accommodate us and tried to make it up with his humor and kindness. We left the place almost 3 hours after our appointment time. Not recommended for people with small children or elderly parents. Be ready to wait a long time! read more

Please avoid this place at all costs, especially during the holidays! Our session time was 4:00 but because they overbooked we had to wait an hour and half for our session. I had two cranky kids that did not want to take photos by the time we were called. The photographer (Angela, I think) was super patient with my cranky kids but that was it. The people running the whole thing do not know what they are doing. After our session we had to wait again to see the photos. I finally went up to an older black woman that worked there and said we don't have time to review the photos we need to leave. She said ok I just need to make some "enhancements" and then I can email them. She then proceeds to make ( I'm not kidding you) 7 different Christmas cards!!!! I said seriously we have to go?!?!! My youngest is full on crying now. I literally just walked out with my family. I was so pissed on the verge of tears! Never ever going back. read more

Our photo session was interrupted twice because the young man working the front had not been trained so our photographer had to leave in the middle of taking pictures to help him. Terrible experience and the photos are blurry. Backdrop was not straightened out. The photographer kept trying to tell us to put our 2 year old (who was having a meltdown so we weren't trying to force her in pictures to make it worse) into photos. The "editing" was the photographer pushing two buttons to auto correct and auto add filters to photos which we could have done ourselves, which ended up costing us an extra $40. Not to mention NOTHING was explained to us throughout the "editing" process and the photographer went through everything so fast we didn't know what was going on. $200 later we have very unprofessional looking photos and we are pretty unhappy with the entire experience. We didn't get to really zoom in to look at the quality of pictures until we received the digital photos hours later. It's just upcharge galore here and we will never come back. Trevor is supposed to be the Manager of this location but refuses to handle customer issues and ignores phone calls and emails. When passing you off to his supervisor CJ, you get a very kind understanding woman who then does the same and refuses to contact you back about your complaint. They take your money, take sub-par photos and when you have an issue refuse to resole it or even respond. Completely unprofessional and unacceptable behavior. I have contacted the CEO Todd Marshall and others in corporate at this time and am awaiting their response. Would not recommend if you want lasting photos you can cherish of your family. read more

I used the JCPenny Stonebriar Mall location to do some business headshots and Trevor was fantastic! He captured some amazing photos and pet portraits with my family dog. Hands down the worst portrait experience I have ever had - and this includes when my mother use to dress my brother and I up alike in her hand-made outfits and we would pinch the crap out of each other during the photo session at Owen Mills trying to make the other one scream. So the goal was to capture a photo of all the grandkids for my parents dressed-up for Christmas. Now I understand you never know what you're going to get when you work with children - odds are when you put a 20-mo old, 3 yr old, 7 yr old, 10 yr old and 13 yr old together someone isn't going to want to cooperate or smile ... as it turned out, that one happened to be our 20-mo old daughter. She didn't want to have anything to do with the whole photo - JCP Portraits experience with her brother and cousins. My family did everything we could to try and get our daughter to relax. It didn't help that the photographer did nothing to work us or help her get use to the environment either. She just stood there - looking miserable, waiting on the kids to get into position and/or sit. She did make a suggested, that I sit on a stool and cover myself with a blanket and have my daughter sit on my lap ... HA! Don't believe me, check out the photos on this review! Then it was my son's turn to act out, he was behaving like he'd seen a ghost in the photos while our daughter just refused to smile. I get it ... working with children is a challenge, especially around the holidays, but if you're job as a photographer is to help families create heirloom memories - wouldn't you at least try and put a little effort into your job and work with the child to try and make them laugh, play with them - or work with their personalities like we have had other countless other photographers do. Apparently that's not in her job description. In the end we paid for JCP for the CD of the photos and I took the pictures to a professional and had them photo shopped - Including removing that horrible JCP backdrop which wasn't even hanging straight that it had a fold in it. I uploaded the photos for other folks to appreciate the situation we were in and see the end results we paid JCP Portraits for. In the end I was able to salvage the one gift ask my parents had for Christmas, and that was for a group photo with all their grandchildren - thanks to the help of another 3rd Party photo-shop guru. I purchased a groupon, for my 7 month old with some developmental delays (i was so nervous about his first photoshoot) and made his appointment for a Saturday morning. EASY BREEZY! I got there about 10 minutes before his appointment and an employee, a male with dirty blonde hair looked me up and down, then walked away. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do. About 5 minutes later a female employee said that someone would assist me in a few minutes. I waited for about 10 more minutes...NOTHING....NADA... A young lady walked in with her daughter and she was immediately greeted by the male employee...her appointment was about 20 minutes later than mine and he told her that she was next in line!! WTF??!! I then did HIS JOB by introducing myself and told him I was there first. He completely ignored the fact that I had waited for so good long and told me I was "checked in" The other woman and her daughter were then seen before me and my son...I ABSOLUTELY HATE PULLING THE RACE CARD but I took this personally. Hmmmm.... The photographer was great. Really patient with my son. They said his pictures would be ready in a couple of weeks and they would call me....yeah..no call received. I just had my sister go up there about a month later and get them. His pictures turned out better than I expected. But you kind of get what you pay for here. My kiddo has a lot of hair and some of his fro was cut off. I haven't made up my mind if I'll be back. They're very affordable, I would just rather deal with someone else than that one guy.... read more

WE HAD NEVER RECEIVED THE PHOTOS. My family had outdoor photo session on 5/23/21 at Frisco Central Park. E-mail confirmation stated that the images are ready within 6 business days. Customer services told me images will be available 1-2 weeks. Local store (Frisco) told me images are ready in 2-3 weeks. As of today (6/16/2021), no link to the images provided. Corporate customer service told me they can't help and referred me to the local store. The local store told me they can't help and referred me to customer service. I only paid $25 for the session fees, but am really sad that we won't have daddy & kids' photos we took for Father's day. I will take it to Business Beaulieu. read more

They offered outdoor portraits and so we thought we'd give it a try. We signed up weeks in advance and they waited until the day before we took pictures to call and cancel stating "we were actually closed for the season so you shouldn't have been able to sign up". They really should put on their website that if you're bringing your dog you need to schedule certain times... otherwise, had I not answered my phone when they called, I would've brought her in and they would've turned us away even though we are ready. I was very pleased with my portrait session! We are a family with four kids and got some great pictures. This is not an easy thing to do! I'm more pleased with these family pictures than I was with the ones we had taken a few years ago from a photographer that cost a lot more money. My son has autism and is non-verbal. We went during a VERY busy time. The staff was so kind, they let us wait in a quite room for our turn. And then when helped by pulling up YouTube on their personal cell phones, so that we could keep his attention and get the picture made. Great service thank you!!! read more

Used a Groupon. Session went great. They tried to upsell, and we bought a canvas and a lot of extras. When picking up, my wife didn't bring in her wallet, "salesperson" tried upselling more, then threw the extra stuff on a table and coldly told my wife "bye" and went on to the next customer, all while rudely smacking her gum. Wow, I used to wonder why this studio had bad reviews, but now I know. They have some employees that have zero customer service skills. I had to pick up a reprint due to their mistake, and was made to wait 45 minutes because she apparently lacks the ability to multi-task. A chimp could've grabbed my envelope while their other customer perused their order choices. Seriously, it took her longer to keep answering the phone than it would've taken to grab my envelope. I even let her know it was just a reprint (so she'd know there was zero up-sell required) to which she snarkily replied that I'd have to wait anyway. I wanted to have some pictures taken of my two kids (6 mo and 2.5 yrs) and I thought the whole experience was much worse than expected. The studio was very hot - kids were sweating, the photographer seemed very rushed - did not wait for kids to smile even once before taking the pictures. Then we were rushed through the reviews and edits by another woman. The pricing was ridiculous - $150 just for the cd plus sitting fees, for around 10 prints plus cd it was $250. Took 2 weeks for the prints to come in and when I went to pick them up I had to wait over an hour (at 3pm) for someone to come back from lunch. read more
