When I brought it back with about half a dozen more cassette tapes, I was assured the job would be completed correctly this time. After stopping and receiving assurances they job was being worked, after months of that and no return calls on status, I finally asked from my tapes back. I was told the contents had been downloaded and would be emailed to me. That never happened either. Promises, promises, promises and excuses of weddings, death in the family, etc with no results means you EARN a bad review.

This is the only guitar store in the DC/VA/MD area that carries more than just a sampling of Mooer pedals which are just beginning to gain high respect amongst musicians. Try out the Preamp Live pedal to see what I mean. Their selection of high quality guitar straps is also about the best I've seen anywhere other than in Nashville guitar stores. They seem to carry the full line up of Levy's straps as well as other brands of similar quality. I was also really impressed with their selection of high end guitar picks. If you're looking for a used guitars they have a wide range to choose from whether you are a beginner or a working musician. If you're shopping for a beginners guitar ask one of their employees for advice on what they would buy given a fixed budget. Because they have guitar techs and real musicians working here, they can give good advice. You can find a nice entry level used guitar here pretty easily. I came across several.

The Ephiphone needed a complete overhaul of the electronics (pickups and controls) and a setup of the strings afterwards since a new piezo bridge was also installed. Prior to this work, the pots were quite noisy, and there were issues with the 1/4" output where it was also crackly depending upon movement. The pickups were replaced with a fairly standard set of Seymour Duncans (SH-2N and SH-4B), the wiring harness was removed and replaced with a much quieter (read shielded) setup, new pots and a new 1/4" output jack. The sound of this instrument while plugged in has drastically improved and now has a bit more versatility when it comes to live and studio usage. There was a little less work with the Agile solid body, where it needed to be updated with stacked pots in order to give a more Gibson-esque control layout of two volumes and two tone pots (one pair for each pickup) to replace the standard master volume, master tone. This allows the guitar to have more tonal variation, especially when both pickups are in use. In both cases the work was done promptly and with an expected series of charges. Al is probably one of the better luthiers when it comes to communications (including pictures) on what is going on with the respective job orders. Like the others on this board, I highly recommend your repair/setup work come his way.

Cory made it easy to set up an account for this and future work. I found KBI Music Shoppe to be clean, well laid out, cheery and inviting. I noticed a fair amount of novelty themed gifts for sale, like sheet-music socks and musician humor stickers, that made me smile.
