Spacious, well lit, clean and tidy, with polite and friendly sales staff (apart from one recent addition, who really needs to learn that no thanks, I'm just looking means I've come in here to look in peace and quiet, don't keep pestering me), this is possibly one of my favourite shops in the complex. I'm a particular fan of the recent season jewel bright wool jackets (which for their quality are exceptionally good value), and the perennial Hobbs suede ballerina pumps, available in a wide range of colours. I can't help feeling that the Hobbs store would be better placed on the posh side (i.e. Jubilee Place), but their ability to stock a good capsule range of the current collection means that you might prefer to whizz out to Canary Wharf rather than into town. A more pleasant shopping experience.

Just take care of your purse and watch out for those sneaky eyes and opportunistic furtive looks and Bob might turn out to be your rich uncle after all. Ok, Clarks used to be for truly 'sensible' people. No style, no elegance, just the 'raw' deal. You could really see what you were getting in a pair of Clarks shoes. Really no mystery at all. And, you would damn well know that dear Aunt Mabel would have herself a field day drooling over those thick, flat, librarian style sling backs that would last her at least 15 more years. But...and wait for it....I don't kid you. Clarks have really modernised and yes, become quite hip in the process and our feet, which have been feeling the squeeze on so many levels for years, are really benefiting tremendously. Like many, I used to always give Clarks a sideways glance, knowing exactly what was through that door. Thought - Nana Mouskouri, thick rimmed glasses - and hairy armpits and moved quickly by. But, their bright and encouraging window dressing display finally got me in one day, but not before checking out my panoramic vision to see who might be watching me decamp into the depths of the unknown. I told myself I was taking the plunge...for dear Aunt Mabel. And, I have been pleased I did ever since. Their own range of goodies that they proudly display all over the show are indeed 'sensible' but without the loss to style. They have learnt. Their Un-Structured and Active Air range are their main support system and they are great. Coming in all sorts of delightful styles and modern colours that would comfort and nurture any foot with callouses and bunions brought on by years of stiletto wearing. They still don't cater for the real 'fancy dress party popper' or for the woman who, instead of going on a diet, just increases the height of her heel in order to 'hopefully' get that long skinny look. But, what you do get, is a good-looking, sensibly priced shoe, with lots of choices in store that are strong and long wearing that you won't have to take off mid-sentence just because that blasted blister is too much to bear.

So this is a tiny tiny Nike store in terms of merchandise and size, but they organise running…read moregroups four times a week for all sorts of runners. Mondays: Women's 5K or 7K. Wednesdays: Mixed 5K, 7K, 10K. Friday mornings: Mixed, 7K. Sunday mornings: LONG ASS RUNS. This is also in addition to the Nike Training Club classes! Pretty impressive for a small store, I'll say. I go primarily to the Monday sessions and do the 7K, which is a normal, short-ish running distance for me. But you'll get an entirely different workout with the pacers, who make you do all sorts of intervals and sometimes all-body training. It's a great workout while also being a lot of fun. The huge thing is that the pacers aren't your annoying, cliche perky cheerleaders; they're actually down-to-earth, relaxed, and amazing at what they do. They'll take care of the whole group and let you work at your pace. If you're faster, they add in extra workouts to challenge you; if you're slower, they will stay with you and figure out how to guide the group so that you'll be able to catch up. Everyone's really friendly, too. Not the type of competitive atmosphere you'd expect! So if you're ever thinking of trying to run shorter or longer distances more regularly with the support of a friendly group, definitely pop by one of the days they run together. If you can't make those specific days, they also encourage you to check out the store on Oxford Street that runs Tuesdays and Thursdays (ladies), though having been to the other one once I'd say that this one is more organised and more like a collective. And did I mention that after 10 runs, you get a free T-shirt? I know what this sounds like, but I PROMISE I'm not being sponsored by them. I'm just SO STOKED by what they offer and just can't believe that more people don't take advantage of this!! Oh, and I guess their stuff is pretty nice and slick, too. ;)

Of all of my global travels & shopping, I experienced the THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE in this Nike…read morestore. Here's my story. I bought a pair of sneakers here and unbeknownst to me at that time, they were half size too small. I wore them the next day and walked over 9 miles around London. By the end of the day my toes were so much in pain that I went straight back to the same store to buy another pair just in a bigger size. This is where THOMAS, THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE PROVIDER EVER, comes to into the picture. He professionally explained the sizing for me and guided me to the correct size. I thanked him and asked if there's a way to make an exchange instead of buying another £129 pair to replace the ones I didn't need and he told me that it's not the norm, but considering the situation he will make the exchange. I didn't have the box or receipt with me so I offered to go to my hotel to pick them up. Thomas said that he doesn't need the box because the shoes cannot be sold again and asked if I had a mobile bank statement to proof my purchase. Thanks to Amex app, I pulled up the receipt and walked away with perfect pair and happy face. The moral of the story is that a combination of a great company like Nike, that allows their employees to make decisions based on each situation and doesn't strangle them with strict guidelines; and a fantastic employee like Thomas, who has the capacity to see the big picture and creativity to find a solution, is a winning combination. I will keep buying Nike product and when in London only shop in their Neal Street store. And I truly wish there were more retailers and employees like Nike & Thomas! Thank you both!

The Oxford Circus Foot Locker store is like the best one in the world, everyone goes there to buy…read morethe latest 'creps' (trainers). It usually gets rammed out on a Saturday or even a late Friday night. The store is welcoming with friendly staff ushering you in, whilst the background music consists of everything from Grime and Hip Hop to R&B and a bit of Pop. So if your a sneaker freak I would highly recommend you visit this massive two story store, you will love it!

Even after an hour of browsing, I have come to the conclusion that this store has the quality of H&M or Forever 21 - just with higher prices and the occasional name brand. USA DO NOT PURCHASE ON-LINE GIFT CARDS from TopShop!…read more On the US TopShop website, the gift cards are electronically generated in EUROS and TopShop stores (in this case, The Grove TopShop in LA) DOES NOT HONOR THEM because "they are not in US dollars". After receiving a $200 gift card that they would not honor, I called their US Customer service number. The US customer service telephone lines ring and then disconnect - continuously. I called their UK customer service number that had an automated "your call is important to us" that kept me on hold for over 40 minutes before connecting to a person (the international phone call alone cost $210). The UK customer service guy checked it all out, confirmed the card, acknowledged the issue, and said they would reissue it in US dollars and email it within the week. No gift card was received. Instead, an email asking for CONFIRMATION of full name, address and zip code. (Image attached) Responded to them - no response. Emailed them again (after the first $200 phone charge I wasn't going to call again) - put in a "que" per automated response saying they were very busy and warning that it I sent another email it would put me on the end of the line and start the process all over again.(see attached) Endless loop - with no results whatsoever.

As an American, I loved seeing T.K. Maxx in person!…read more I knew that T.J. Maxx in the UK is called T.K. Maxx, and I was so excited to finally see it with my own eyes. The assortment of inventory is very different compared to the US, and honestly, it's not as good LOL. Also, if anyone knows the "No tag" rule at all TJX Company stores in the US. Whenever you would like to purchase something that doesn't have a tag, they try to give you the best possible price for an item that's comparable to the item. The same thing happened to me with a bracelet, and they tried to charge me 15 pounds for a bracelet that's worth 4. There were many cheaper ones all around, but of course they picked the most expensive one. . . I had to drop a star for that, but otherwise it was a cool touristy experience.

The Designer Warehouse is one of my favourite London discoveries…read more Not far from my home, and just off Seven Sisters road is a monthly sale for designer clothes - having heard from it from a colleague, I didn't really know what to expect. It was great and would definitely recommend giving it a visit. When getting to the warehouse, you have to leave your bag and coat (including your phone) in a cloakroom, and may a small fee of £3 (or 2?) to be able to get in. The sale is over 2 floors, and organised by designers - some are really well known, some are smaller names I've never heard of. It's not a posh environment, it's just rows and rows of clothes on hangers - and you have to take the time to go through them to find the gems, and also your size. There aren't any changing rooms, but there is an area where you can go and try them on at the back of the venue - it's closed off to men, but you do have to accept getting changed in front of other women. I am myself a massive fan of Vivienne Westood, and this was also the opportunity for me to try on a few pieces of her clothes - and yes, I did cave in and buy a top (1/3 of the original price) and a scarf. Good to know: they separate their sales between womanswear and menswear - their schedule is updated on their website.
