After waiting about 20 minutes for her arrival, she briefly cut my hair and told me she would wash it herself, explain the products she was using, and show me how to style my curls. None of that happened. Instead, after the cut she left to work on another client, while a New talent staff member washed, styled and diffused my hair. I was asked to hold an extremely uncomfortable position because the chair was too low, causing significant neck pain. The final result was unacceptable-my hair was dry, frizzy, misshapen, and sticking out on the sides. It looked nothing like a professional curly hair style. When the Salon Stylist finally returned, I told her I was very disappointed. She offered to start over by washing and restyling my hair, but after spending so much time there and with my husband waiting outside, I declined. I later called to request a reasonable, resolution, such as a credit toward a future haircut, buts was told they would only redo the stying and do not offer refunds. What disappointed me most was paying $155 plus tax for a Salon Stylist when the styling was entirely performed by a New Talent Student. The salon justified the price by saying curly hair receives a dry cut and diffuser instead of a blowout, but a diffuser is simply an attachment used to dry curly hair. The website states that a Salon Stylist hair cut appointments include a wash and blowout for $100 plus, and I do not believe the service I received reflected either the advertised experience or the price charged. I left the salon so unhappy with result that Had to go home and wash and style my own hair. For the amount charged, I expected the Salon Stylist to provide the hands-on service that was promised. Unfortunately, this experience fell well below my expectations.

I clearly explained that I wanted an electric blue colour and even showed him multiple reference photos. He told me he understood my vision and said he could achieve it. The next day I had my appointment. He started bleaching my hair at 3:08 PM and didn't wash the bleach out until 6:57 PM. After the first round of bleach he told me he had reached the colour needed for the blue I wanted, and I was very happy. However, he then told me he was planning to do a blue-black colour. I immediately told him that if it was going to be blue-black, I wanted it lighter instead. He reassured me that he could still achieve the lighter blue. After the second round of bleach, he applied a very vibrant purple dye. I was extremely confused, and even the friends I was on the phone with at the time were confused because purple was never part of the plan. When I asked him about it, he told me to "trust him," which I did because he is supposed to be a specialist. When we were waiting, I asked about the price and he said it would be $450, which already seemed very high to me. Then when we went to wash my hair, he immediately started brushing it while it was wet. My hair stayed a bright purple and I started to panic. When I touched it, it felt like elastic and was extremely damaged. I started crying and told him I did not want him touching my hair anymore because it was clearly ruined. Despite completely damaging my hair, he still demanded payment and would not let me leave until I paid something. He even blocked the way and blamed the damage on me, saying I caused it myself. I have been dyeing my hair since I was 13 years old and I have NEVER experienced damage like this from any stylist until now. The last place I went to overcharged me and only dyed the top 3/4 of my hair (not close to the roots). Gene was the exact opposite: he took his time on each strand of hair (a perfectionist), was incredibly attentive, and told me what he was doing each step of the way. The salon is run by a couple (Gene and Mariam) and they are such funny, kind, and patient people. They made the salon experience so much more comfortable, especially given that the balayage process took ~5 hours. The pricing is also really reasonable, compared to other places I've been. Overall, I highly recommend this salon. I'm definitely going back!
