Enter: Beaufort Realty. You cannot go far in Beaufort without seeing the Beaufort Realty signs. There are plenty of places for sale, and places for rent. I knew the area so looking online for a house to rent was not a difficult task. I will say that there were some hiccups at first with selecting a home. I sent several messages through the online site trying to reserve a cottage, but never got a response. I called, and left a message, received a call back two days later helping me with the request. I booked a cottage, and moved on. A few weeks later I received a call that the house we booked was now no longer available but that they were putting us in another house, in the area, at the same cost- the house was bigger so this was a great deal! The check-in process was easy, as they arranged for our late arrival to Beaufort. We picked up our packet and went to the house. The house was old and needed some extra lovin' but overall, it was a great beach house for what we needed. Plus, the house allowed our two furry kids so were were happy. Check-out was also easy as we just dropped off our packet the day we left. Beaufort Realty made the experience easy. Now that I know their process, I would just find a house online, and call in to book it rather than depend on the online process.I should also mention that the morning after we had arrived, we noticed that the coffee pot was missing from the coffee maker. When we called Beaufort Realty, they went right then to purchase a new maker for us and dropped it off....all within 20 minutes.

Had to remind him repeatedly of preexisting damages in the house that he lost track of several times. Was not present when I arrived to get the keys and kept me waiting an hour to collect them. Did not provide a physical home condition report when we arrived, suggesting we download one & print it out (we just moved in, didn't have internet, & did not have a printer on us). These are basic things for any decent real estate agent. Made up false statements of damages after we left. When trying to work with him to get transparency in the process he tried to coerce and intimidate us. Immediately took him to court. Was caught lying in court to the magistrate...under oath. Did not know the law and had to be reminded that he was responsible for providing a final list of expenses (which he never did). He lost the case that day and was forced to pay us back all of our money and all court costs. He put the homeowners in an unfavorable position. I do not know if they had to cover these costs for him. Disrespectful to military service members. Arrogant, incompetent, unprofessional. Moving is a is a trying experience and you need a realtor/property manager who will help you through the process. Josh Reilly's lack of honesty, professionalism, and administrative competence is something you should avoid at all costs. There are plenty of actual GOOD realtors in Marsh Harbor. He is not one of them. If he tries anything shady with you, just document everything and take him to court. His administrative incompetence will help you. Beating him in court was easy.

Not shockingly, I had a call telling me that I was unable to extend my stay by a day because some renters cancelled their week in writing but still have the right to show up at my house even thought they cancelled in writing. Naturally the person I spoke to was Karen! Yippee! I asked the Karen to call the people to verify if they had any intention of coming to the house. He went the extra mile with this education and helped us understand many aspects of Down East, even going as far as sharing his local expertise to help us navigate the waterways in our new boat. Of course there are always snags when purchasing a home. There were times we had to wait for an appraiser or surveyor, but we always felt EJ was on the ball and if there was a delay it was not him causing the delay, rather he was doing everything he could to speed it up.
