Like any couple, we wanted great wedding photos. But we also wanted great photos, that just happened to be about a wedding. We found JMS bouncing from wedding photog blog to blog about 9 months before the big day. His pictures were journalistic, natural light, people centric, captured emotion well, and had a painterly quality about them we thought would complement both bright red Hindu and white Western wedding ceremonies. We chose well, very well. :) Some other things that mattered to us: 1) JMS was the only photographer we talked with that didn't fence in a number of hours he/she would work. We had two ceremonies hours apart, and a reception that went into the night. Jeff was there with us every step of the way from 8am to midnight. 2) JMS scouted out both wedding sites with us to offer suggestions on locations, lighting, etc... prior to the wedding. He helped picked where we took our vows. This meant a lot to us. 3) JMS and his second photographer have a professional and very unassuming presence. Critical when it seems like you're in the middle of the most chaotic and also totally wonderful day of your life. By the way, the second photographer for our wedding wasn't an assistant or trainee, but a full fledged and very successful wedding photographer in his own right. 4) If I could go back and do anything differently with JMS, it would have been to get a photo booth, but its something we never thought of. Jeff is a great guy and an extremely talented photographer. I had been admiring his work for years and knew that when I got married, he would be my first (and only) choice for photographer. Jeff absolutely saved our butts the day before our wedding! My husband and I had hired two photographers to capture our big day, and they both cancelled two days before our wedding. Regarding these reviews being "fishy," I personally don't think it's fishy for satisfied customers to write reviews to counteract one person's negative experience. I'm sorry someone had a negative experience but I definitely don't want people to think that's the norm with Jeff. As for me, you can look at Jeff's website to see my wedding pictures ("Alex and Annie" album) and see that this review is legit. My experience with Jeff was fantastic and I have referred several friends to him since my November wedding. Jeff was very friendly, easy to work with, and has a great artistic eye. I got married in a church, and Jeff was respectful of the church's policies regarding use of flash and where the photographer could set up. Contrary to my fear that it would "cramp his style," he took it in stride and still produced some great shots. My wedding photos will be a treasure for years to come. My wife and I are photographers in Ohio. We planned a trip all the way out to Seattle to have Jeff create a film for us. He is one of the nicest people I've ever had the privilege of meeting, and being photographers ourselves, we obviously have pretty high expectations as far as customer service and the product that we expect to receive. Ahhhh where to begin? Ok, I will just admit it, I am a serial camera dodger. I hate having my picture taken, and the prospect of an entire engagement session had me, well, ready to run..... Enter: Jeff. I had been watching his work for awhile, and thought he had a really creative, yet "real life" look to his pics. *just* what my fiance and I were looking for. Still, I was nervous and antsy. Jeff was cool and collected right off the bat. He had a plan, but seemed to just let the session unfold. Jeff shot my wedding in August 2012 and I can't say enough great things about him and his assistant.
