First bed sore after discharge from hospital

More care by nursing staff. Mr. Spisak was a patient at the Cherry Hill location from October 16-24. He was sent home with severe bed sores that were unstageable and eventually killed him. The nursing staff never turned him or attempted to get him out of bed. "He's too heavy (he weighed 145 lbs),and uncooperative. Mr. Spisak never refused any type of recommendations or help. One month later he went to Virtua hospital where they tried to reverse the damage from the bed sores. He was also treated aggressively at home to keep the infections from becoming more impactful. Mr. Spisak died on December 17 as a direct result of the bed sores I would rate this 0 stars if I had the choice

Dr. Nishant Reddy and his staff are amazing. My husband had nasal surgery on 12/4 and his nurse Jamie and Santa Steve were amazing, caring and attentive. I call Steve Santa Steve because he has a beard. All jokes aside, All were professional and excellent at their jobs. Jamie was patient caring and gave great detailed post op instructions, we had great conversation as well as as professional care. The hospital was decorated very nicely for Christmas which made it so warm and welcoming and I love the Starbucks and gift shop!

Christmas holidays will never be as exciting as the time I ended up in the ER in 2019 and finding out I needed emergency gall bladder surgery. Woo hoo! I was in very good hands the whole time I was here. The nurses who took great care of me for the 2 nights I stayed were nothing but kind, careful, kind and helpful. Whatever I needed, they were there to figure out how they could help me. One of my ER doctors looked like Ben Affleck. Hehehe. My surgeon and anesthesiologist were caring, told me everything that was going on and came to see me post op. This is the second time in my life that I ended up in the ER here, and always will be grateful for their care of me.

Magee Rehabilitation in Suite 101 located on the backside of the hospital. Enter through the parking garage, first floor.

Not only were all of the doctors and nurses incredibly kind and helpful, but they did everything right there at the hospital.

I was scared and sick. When they came to my house,my pup was barking with all the visitors. They didn't blink and he is a big guy. By the time they got me in the ambulance, they had calmed Wilson too. The thing is, they didn't just transport me and dump me off t the hospital. They stayed with me till the Emergency Nurse came to take over. This helped. It's hard to be alone when you are not well.. I appreciated their care and kindness. Then the RN, I think Tiara? Began her professional attentive care calmed me. When you can't breath it creates fear and she was quick to give me care. Jade was already waiting to do a chest x-ray and was as kind as could be. They don't want you to drink anything, when you first arrive till they determine your care. But when you are struggling to breathe you become very uncomfortably dry. My Nurse gave me a sponge wipe for my lips. It sounds small but it so was not. Dr. Sing was terrific and efficient. Answered my questions and admitted me to the hospital. I was eligible for hospital at home because I am a senior . An excellent choice. I had been in this program before. I have asthma that can get out of control and they have been able to stabilize me before. The care you can get at home without being in the hospital is a big plus. A virtual doctor visit every day and 2 RN visits give you the support that you need without the trauma of being hospitalized. The Doctors were fantastic. I can't remember all their names but I do remember a Dr Leu and Dr Malek. There were 2 others and I am sorry I cant remember their names. The Doctors did not just give me medical directives, they partnered with me and planned with me. Very noble. Thank you. My Nurses, Christine, Michael, Joe, Sarah and Emily, all very thorough and compassionate. Even the couriers who delivered needed medicine, equipment and even food were prompt friendly and professional. I am feeling better and those partners are the reason why. Wilson Cheese made a bunch new friends. It's nice when the folks are caring for you, accept and understand your extended family. Thanks to you all.

I was called back rather quickly to the intake nurse within 20 mins...that made me happy! Then she takes me back to my ER bed and I'd say by 6:30 they had given me an IV and taken blood samples. Now the wait begins. I was told by 7pm I'd be going for an ultrasound but that didn't happen because apparently they change shifts at 7pm....soooo 9:30pm comes around and I'm being wheeled down for the ultrasound. I will say the ultrasound tech was very kind and by 10pm I was back to the freezing ER room and told I need to wait to see the Dr to tell me my ultrasound results. It's now 11pm and still no Dr. I'll update this post once he comes and I'm released but I just don't think SIX hours in the ER is reasonable, for blood to be drawn and an ultrasound...I could be clueless though. Oh and I guess I'm naive but they don't give patients snacks/food after being in the icebox for SIX hours? This is insanity. UPDATE!! After asking the nurse to see the Dr he finally comes in at 11:30pm and apologizes for the wait and says that's normal for an ER. Waited another 20 mins to get my discharge papers and was free at last! UGH!

I didn't imagine that I would stay in a hospital for the next five weeks. Not saying goodbye to my cats was one of the hardest things. For more than a month, not seeing any animals was so hard because I am a huge animal lover. But when I gave birth, my daughter's nurse told me that there was a dog at the hospital that could visit me. And then that afternoon, Bean came to me. I was crying from excitement and happiness; other than giving birth, that was the best feeling ever. She was so sweet and gentle, and just petting her was the most wonderful feeling. Every person in the hospital who loves animals knows that having a dog visit you in such difficult moments means everything to you. Mrs. Katelynn was so thoughtful and amazing; she brought Bean again to see me and she wrote me and my daughter the most beautiful card. Having preeclampsia and my baby coming so early because of that was very difficult, but having that little dog there meant the world to me. I will forever be grateful for the time we spent together. I have a little sticker with Bean's face on my fridge, and whenever I look at it, I remember how happy I was when she was with me. Visiting Paws and Bean is the crucial thing for anyone struggling and just wanting to have a normal feeling about life outside of the hospital. T.St.

100 MILLION NEGATIVE STARS!! I don't even know where to…read morestart. ( This is going to be a long one, but make sure you read ALL of this, it may be the difference between life and DEATH. ) In chronological order, my boyfriend and I had always thought this was a great hospital, soley based on the ER wait time and the sheer size of the facility. So when he had an aneurysm rupture January 6th, 2025, this hospital being less than 10 minutes from his home, would have seemed to be a great option... THAT COULD NOT HAVE POSSIBLY BEEN MORE WRONG! The backstory is that I had a severe AVM brain hemorrhage when I was 16. I died three times before I even made it to Jefferson, I went brain dead there, I spent two weeks in a coma, a month and a half in the ICU, with less than a 1% chance of survival, and emergency surgeries every single day. That was over TWENTY YEARS AGO when today's medical advancemens had not yet been utilized, in a hospital that was much LESS modern and equipped than Virtua. Yet my doctors saw fit to actually treat me, and I am here 22 years later. David Chapman, the brightest light in this entire world, the whole of my existence, and honest-to-God walking angel on earth, WAS NOT EVEN TREATED, NOT EVEN ADMITTED, NOT OPERATED ON, THOUGH HE WAS STILL ALIVE WHEN HE ARRIVED. They did a simple brain scan and declared there was nothing to be done, without even trying. *( MY doctors said the same about me, but as soon as they drained the blood off my brain, they realized they were wrong. )* THEY DID NOTHING FOR HIM. THEY LET HIM LIAY THERE WITHOUT ANY INTERVENTION, TURNED OFF HIS LIFE SUPPORT, AND WATCHED HIM DIE FOR 4 HOURS. To add insult to an already unbearable injury, I was hit and ran over by a car on December 13th of 2025. I am disabled on my left side, and this car completely crushed my right foot, causing it to turn sideways. I spent a hellish week in a bed in virtua, after sitting all night waiting for a bed in excruciating pain, in the very spot where the love of my life was left to die in the ER. Not only were the nurses and the completely inept and unknowlegable, regarding my medication, but one of them ( PEARL) sat there and argued with me about it for an hour, to the point that she called security on me, even though I did not raise my voice once. She then she proceeded to LIE to me and told me the floor doctor said her directions were correct. I spoke to the doctor the next day, and she said she was completely unaware of the entire situation. THREE days after the SIX broken bones in my foot, I had to CONSTANTLY fight off one person after another, who wanted me to get up and walk on it even though I was wearing a splint. They would NOT LET ME SPEAK TO THE ORTHOPEDIC DOCTOR WHO EVALUATED MY X RAYS, and their STUPIDITY AND BELIGERENCE deepened even further when they demanded I put my sideways splinted foot inside a CAM boot. I refused because I was well aware this was completely INSANE MALPRACTICE, so they threatened to kick me out. I had to file an APPEAL, AND SEARCH ON MY OWN FOR THE DOCTOR'S NUMBER BECAUSE THEY WOULD NOT GIVE IT TO ME. He sent his resident to speak with me, and I explained the situation. He took one look at me and shook his head, saying "There is no way you're standing up or walking on this, and there is no logical possibility of putting a splint inside of a CAM boot." After a week of physical and mental TRAUMATIZATION from the staff, I was transferred to an inpatient facility, and was not medically allowed to weightbear for over a MONTH. At this moment, 3 months later, I am still medically required to bein a CAM boot, and cannot walk more than a few steps. Virtua would have caused me permanent and extreme damage to my foot, which is my body's entire weight-bearing and balancing system, causing all SIX fractures to immediately break AGAIN. DO NOT. EVER. GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!!! DO NOT. EVER. TRUST THEM WITH ANYONE'S MEDICAL CARE!!! ALL THEY WANT IS YOUR MONEY. THEY WILL JUST AS SOON LET YOU DIE, AND BUTCHER YOUR BODY, AS LOOK AT YOU!!! THIS ENTIRE FACILITY NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN FOR THE SAFETY OF EVERYONE IN GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP.!!!!!!
