I recently moved was looking for a new podiatrist. My old one just seemed a bit blah and I was doubting his diagnosis of my feet. I'm pretty athletic so i'd like my feet to feel good. I looked on Yelp for a good 2 weeks - checked names with google searches etc. Originally I wanted a woman Dr (just thinking they'd be sympathetic to the high heel/shoe issue) .... I came up empty handed and had to choose one of the many men podiatrists. Not many podiatrists had reviews on Yelp, just a handful so it was kind of a crap shoot - I chose one that was more local with a few reviews. I looked at the one bad review from 2010 and realized that review was for a doctor in a NYC office. Not this Doctor. I made an appointment with the loveliest of receptionists with the greatest of ease. On the day of my appointment, I got there about 10 minutes early to fill out some paperwork (I could have printed out the forms from home and filled them out before hand) My appointment time was right on the button - no waiting what so ever. The Dr Gewirtz was SINCERELY nice. I was very comfortable with him. He assessed my feet for a good 40 minutes with the upmost of scrutiny - he took some x-rays - an ultrasound and told me what condition I actually had vs what my old dr claimed I had. In total I was there for a tad over 1 hour. I never felt rushed and he was more than willing to answer any questions that I had. Oh, and he was very sympathetic to my shoe/heel issues. I recently had an emergency with my 8 year old daughter (ingrown toenail) and the original Podiatrist we went to for this issue wouldn't see her for another week. I called Dr. Gewirtz's office and was given an appointment same day. My daughter was traumatized from her first visit with the other Podiatrist and I thought for sure she wouldn't let Dr. Gewirtz touch her. He was as gentle as anyone can be, explained exactly what he was going to do. I would highly recommend Dr. Gewirtz for anyone young or old. Dr. Gewirtz treated my 93-year old parents. He was most patient, kind, informative, knowledgeable and caring with each of them and spent more time than was was necessary while never rushing through an appointment. They were thrilled with him as was I. I cannot recommend Dr. Gewirtz highly enough. read more

Dr. Gewirtz assisted my own podiatrist during an operation. He came to me while I was gowned a few moments before the operation with release forms, and as I read them, he shrieked at me "Sign them!! You don't have to read anything!!" At the office for follow-up, he re-bandaged my foot too tightly, then said he didn't have time to re-bandage it. His supervisor cut into the bandage so I lower my foot comfortably. When I told Gewirtz that my other leg muscle was painful with tight overused muscles (as I had to keep the bandaged foot elevated while on crutches), he smirked and told me to see "a doctor." I learned later that he could have written a script for massage therapy, as this is the usual consequence of relying on one leg while the other heals. He is snide, tempermental, and arrogant, and was subsequently fired for similar behavior to other patients at this office. I suspect other reviews were more positive, as he was probably told to modify his behavior, but obviously couldn't do so permanently. read more

I initially went to Dr. Gewirtz several years ago when I broke my foot and was in severe pain. Several of my colleagues use him and recommended him highly. I could not have been happier. He was very gentle and sensitive to the fact that I was in pain. He was knowledgeable, took the time to clearly explain my diagnosis and treatment plan, and provided me with excellent care. And I am very picky with doctors. I have been seeing Dr. Gewirtz for the past 5 years whenver I have any kind of foot pain or ingrowns. The office staff are pleasant and I've never had to wait long to see him. I can't imagine how anyone would not be happy with their experience at Park56Podiatry. Dr. Frankel (the other Dr. there) is also really good. They get booked up so be sure to make an appointment a few weeks in advance. I think that Dr. Gewirtz is a great doctor and highly recommend him. He is also great about getting back to you if you have any questions or concerns post -treatment. read more

Dr. Gewirtz is as good as it gets! He is extremely knowledgeable, caring, and takes his time with his patients! I honestly would not know what I would do without Dr. Gewirtz. If you have any type of foot injury, go to him! When is the last time a Dr. actually took his time with you and listened to your issues? He is as good as it gets! read more

I went to this podiatrist based on numerous recommendations for my plantar fasciitis, I explained that I had this issue before and shots helped. After selling me shoe inserts and having me come back to the office, I was told that they dont do the shots I was looking for. Over all, I got the impression that this is more of a business than a doctor's office because every time I was there, the doctor tried to sell me something (and none of it was useful). When I insisted on shots, I was told I need a neurologist. When I saw the neurologist that they referred me to, she laughed and said " Im not sure why he sends all his patients to me, most of the time, they dont need me". To add insult to injury, they claim I did not pay my copay at my visit, since I cant prove cash payments, I had to pay again, this time with my bank's bill pay (to ensure a record), they are now claiming they did not receive that either. read more

I dread going to doctors because most of the time I spend sitting in the waiting room or with the billing office. My experience with Dr. Jeffrey Gewirtz was far from that - it was actually pleasant. I walked in the door, gave my name to the receptionist, sat down and as I picked up a magazine I was greeted by Dr. Gewirtz who escorted me to the exam room himself - how refreshing! After talking to him about my foot issues, he gently examined my foot and knew right away what the issues was. Dr. Gewirtz told me exactly what to do and gave me the prescription I needed. He told me to follow up if the problem continued but it went away as he assumed it would. What I was most satisfied with was Dr.Gewirtz's professionalism, calm demeanor and confidence in knowing the root of the problem. He didn't rush our visit or convince me to come for a visit 2 weeks later as a follow up (I hate when Dr.'s do that for no good reason). I will definitely visit that office again and have already referred him to two people. read more
