I debated writing this review, however just had the weirdest / uncomfortable experience that I feel needs to be shared. I started by scheduling a regular cleaning. I informed the receptionist that my dental insurance had changed and she let me know Dr. Bellisario was out of network with Delta Dental, but assured me that I would have a 'small out of pocket expense'. Fast forward to the day of my cleaning and I let the hygienist know about my insurance not being accepted and told her I didn't want x-rays for this reason. She was surprised I was saying that because two other dentists in the practice accept Delta. I can only assume the receptionist purposefully scheduled me with the only out of network dentist? I then had to schedule a filling with the dentist who was thankfully in network. He is one of the newer dentists and the experience was extremely painful and awkward. He used way too much pressure on my jaw, made minimal eye contact, and basically didn't engage me in any conversation. Thankfully the hygienist in the office was kind and able to put me at ease. read more

I have been going to Dr. Bellisario's office for years, and my family has too, for even longer. I am writing a review today because i was reminded after leaving my appointment, on why I go there, as opposed to a different dentist. I realized that it always comes down to how an office experience makes us feel, and the other stuff is usually secondary. each and every person in that office makes you feel cared for, and it's because they really do care. If I have questions, they are answered clearly and thoroughly. I can only speak for myself, but Dr. Bellisario always puts the interest of myself and my teeth on the forefront of his care plan. also, if you grind your teeth I highly suggest a mouth guard. Everyone at the office is amazingly kind, welcoming and friendly. They do great work and are very gentle. However, their business practices are sketchy - at best, nearly manipulative. I've been a client for over three years. Never once have I ever had a bad experience in practice, but billing? Another story. They not only have hidden fees they charge often, after service, but they seem to have trouble giving an and honest fair estimation - so be prepared to pay nearly twice as much as "estimated". read more

At my regularly scheduled dental cleaning in September, prior to service that day, I did inform the front desk that my insurance had changed and provided the new insurance card and account number. I was told my copay was $27.00. I paid in cash that same day. Then, after the fact, I received a bill claiming l owed money on my balance. It would be helpful to inform clients upfront what the actual fee is or if it is an "estimated amount" to state that prior to giving services. read more

Let me start by saying I think Dr. Jeff does great work and has a convenient location and hours. But you can read my previous review if you want more info on that. I had some older silvers filling that didn't need replacing. However I was encouraged to get them exchanged for the white fillings. I was told that because of my plan with Delta dental that I wouldn't incur any costs with this procedure. We set up a couple of visits to take care of them. Jeff worked his magic and everyone was very friendly on this visit. No mention of money owed or anything long those lines. Came back in for the next visit and same thing, no mess, no hassle or mention of money or copay. About 1 month passes and I receive a bill. 115 bucks for services rendered. I think huh, that must be an error. I was told that it wouldn't cost a thing. Fast forward another month, right around the holidays and I get another letter. I put it on my to do list to call and get to the bottom of things but with all the craziness of the holidays it totally slipped my mind. I received another letter and called that same day. I spoke with a receptionist who claimed that they have no way of knowing copay prices and basically harped on the fact that 115 for what I got done is a good price. She couldn't understand that I was upset by this bait and switch. She again would not get off the idea that I should be happy it only cost 115. She told me that since I was unhappy with how things unfolded that she would speak with Jeff on monday. Monday we we're still digging out from the storm so I didn't get a call and I didn't expect one either. Tonight I was called and went through the whole spiel again. Even explained how I already had this conversation and was waiting for a call after she had spoken with Dr. Jeff but right back to the old how great of a deal I got. I again told her that it wasn't the cost that was the issue, just that I was told one thing than presented with something else and that honesty and trust we're very important. She claimed that they didn't try to misrepresent the price, I agreed with her - I doubt they are hurting for money so they try to bate and switch for 115 bucks. But none the less she refused to come off the fact that I should be happy for the price in spite I was lied to. I explained that I would have to find another dentist because for me it was the principles not the cost. She offered to take off 10 percent which made it clear that she wasn't listening. Its not the cost, 10 percent doesn't accept any responsibility. She replied that she wasn't going to make my decision for me, but in fact she had. She didn't seem upset to be losing a young client who is soon to have children and would have certainly stayed loyal for many years to come. What a shame. I expected better. read more

I wish I had read Harry E.'s review below before my husband and I switched to this office, because now I can see the same pattern of tricking patients into unnecessary procedures of which the patients are not informed of the costs. I called to set up new patient appointments and was told the office would check my insurance and let me know if there was any co-pay (I never paid co-pay for a routine bi-annual cleaning). They assured me that the office will let patients know the cost before doing anything. I called them before my first appointment and was told everything was good (no mention of any co-pay). I went and then received a bill for co-pay. I called the office and the office manager waived my co-pay, and more importantly, waived my husband's co-pay for his UPCOMING first appointment -- they showed good attitude to attract new patients. So my husband went to his first bi-annual appointment with this office. The office did a full-mouth x-ray on him despite the fact that my husband told them he had x-ray in another office not long ago. Because I told my husband the office had promised to waive any co-pay for the first visit, he assumed the office had made a decision to do an x-ray for free to switch a new patient. Then a bill came for the x-ray. I called to inquire about the situation. The lady said the billing department was off that day and she would pass on the message. Before I said "thank you", she said "You are welcome. Have a good day. Bye" and hanged up on me. Six days later, the office manager called me and accused my husband for not telling them he had x-ray elsewhere. She said six times that my husband is a "grownup man" and should not let them do the x-ray because nobody "pointed a gun on his head". She told me to take my business elsewhere. She did this for 35 years and their office is ethical. She talked non-stop for minutes, but would not allow me to finish my sentence. Fine. End of story. I learnt my lesson. PS: The office gave out gift cards for patient writing reviews online. So it is not surprising to see so many good reviews floating around... read more

Disappointed. While Dr. Bellasario came highly recommended I was disappointed overall with my experience. I was always kept waiting for appointments - whether for cleanings or dental work; it didn't matter whether I was the first appointment, middle of the day or last in the evening. While the office staff is pleasant, I always feel that Dr. Bellasario is always running from room to room - trying to manage the flow of patients. Perhaps it's time to bring in another dentist. to help out. I also needed a crown and was never informed of what the financial arrangements would be regarding what insurance would cover. I had to call prior to my appointment and ask. In my humble opinion - look elsewhere. There are too many good dentists out there. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Bellasarios for 20+ years. During that time I had extensive work done, root canals, fillings, crowns,etc. I was referred to him by a friend, who like me needs nitrous for procedures. At first the nitrous was free, then a few years ago they charged $55 and that was not covered by my insurance. Right from the beginning I spoke to him about his tone and manner in which he spoke to me. Because there are several rooms that he has patients in, you can hear how he interacts with them. He was jovial and it seemed that he especially had better rapport with men. I spoke to him about this also, but nothing changed At that time his office accepted my insurance, but about several years ago, they stopped taking it because the practice was not getting enough money back for the procedures. I went to another dentist and ended up paying $2,000 for a root canal. So I switched to another dentist who was very nice but told me while he was cleaning my teeth that there was decay under all the work I had done. I called Dr.. Bellasarios' office and was told to come in. So, I had to get a a dental implant which cost me almost $7,000. Then my bridge I had done several years ago, now needs to be replaced. After three attempts in making the bridge, I told him that it wasn't adhered to my gum, but he brushed that off. I'm in the process of looking for another dentist to fix that. In the duration off seeing him, I paid $500 to to have my teeth whitened and trays made for upkeep on whitening. Since I didn't see any difference in coloring of my teeth , I asked if I could have the whitening done and pay half, since I already had the trays. He told me the coloring of my teeth didn't respond to whitening. Now you must wonder why I stayed there and came back 3 times. The office is clean and aesthetically pleasing, the hygienist's are great and it is close to my home. I take good care of my teeth using an electric tooth brush and water flossing my teeth. In the beginning, I referred several people to him, one being the medical director from the hospital I was a nurse manager at and my husband who is also a nurse. Both complained about his demeanor and expense. Now I have a missing tooth since the tooth he made with the post was loose. He attempted to fix it twice and told me if that didn't work I would need to have a dental implant and I already told you how much that cost. So now on my left side I have a screw sticking up. The plan they presented indicated I needed two teeth done, but I explained to the office several times I could only pay for one. The Dr. didn't notice on the treatment plan I was woke up with two screws. My right side just had a root canal by a Dr. I was referred to who accepted my insurance and it only cost me $330. I have a gaping hole in the front of my mouth which needs a dental implant and also need to find someone to fix my bridge, which includes three teeth. read more

Dr. Bellisario has been my dentist for over 35 years. He is professional as well as extremely competent. He is a wonderful dentist and all his staff are wonderful and very competent too. The dental assistants work well with Dr. B and the hygienist do a great job. I've had lots of dental work done and they all have made the experience as good as it gets for someone who hates going to the dentist. I've also had a great experience with the front desk staff. They take the time to explain insurance coverage and what my financial responsibility is before any treatment is done so that there are no surprises. Never have I had unnecessary work done.
