I'm liking Jeff's more and more every time I come her with bf. Today we bought a beautiful piece of swordfish and 6 scallops which I brought home and marinated. Last week, we bought a piece of salmon which was great! The guys who work here are very nice 8/3/20 I have a love and not so love relationship with Jeff's depending on who's working that day. Today, not so good. The kid who was helping me wasn't wearing his mask over his nose. Bad!!! I asked him to please cover his nose with his mask and he wasn't doing it so I insisted and suggested he get a tighter mask. Other than that, he should be watched. There's no one senior here though. I had a hankering for a fried fish sandwich for lunch so I called in my order at Jeff's. In general I love the new Jeff's but it can be a little pricey. But the sandwich and fries was $12 which I view as good value. The fries were great and the fish was fresh and excellent. The fillet hung out past the roll and the roll was large. If you feel like a fresh fish sandwich I highly recommend. read more

This place blew it. Was once the only decent fish monger in the area when it was the old location. They sold it, moved down the road, combined it with a pointless market and doubled their prices. Add to it the quality and selection of fish is downgraded and they staffed with a bunch of kids who don't know halibut from tilapia. So sad to see a good place die. I retried it multiple times but now avoid it and go to Whole Foods. Miss the old Jeff's :( read more

Consistency great selection of fresh seafood. The shrimp, cherry stone clams, salmon, tuna is all terrific. But I have to say I have never had better baked clams than those at Jeff's Seafood. Jeff's is our go-to seafood joint. I don't know that Jeff's is head-and-shoulders above a lot of fish counters in the area, but when I asked around who everyone uses for fish, I can see why nearly everyone said Jeff's. The fish is fresh, the prices fair. I have pretty high standards when it comes to fish joints, I grew up in Freeport, going to Two Cousin's, once a week during Lent. And 2C was one of many great fish shops on the Nautical Mile back then ... when local flounder was cheap and plentiful ... anyway, Jeff's passes muster, I like it. If you're missing Jeff's Surf and Turf (now another SoBol, yawn), they do have some stuff at regular Jeff's, you gotta ask. I will say the shrimp mac and cheese was good. The lobster bisque is a little bit marginal. I got a couple of pieces of steamed lobster from the fresh seafood section, and was shocked to pay $75 a pound. This isn't East hampton. That is ridiculous. But I live and learn. Not rushing back. I just left Jeff's and I'm so unbelievably disappointed by the service of this place. For the price you'd assume there would be no mistakes and everyone behind the counter would know how to make a sandwich. It took about 35 minutes to make 5 sandwiches. Nobody knew what they were doing... I heard them ask what goes into a Cesar salad wrap.... $15 for a sandwich that forgot to add the simple lettuce, tomato, mayo. I went to to check out and the young boy behind the counter was confused when we asked him to put our stuff in plastic baggies to leave. I had high hopes and heard great things but I don't think I'll be going back. read more

The best seafood! Always the fresh catch, just off the boat, fresh fresh fresh and local everyday. We love Jeff's so much! Would not buy our fish anywhere else. And in addition to the fresh local seafood, scallops, clams, and all else their shrimp cocktail and homemade cocktail sauce are wonderful! We picked up food from Jeff's Thursday before Christmas. There was a line out the door, we expected this, but it moved very quickly. The place was clean and the guys behind the counter were friendly and helpful. We brought home Crab-Corn Chowder, Lobster Bisque, Baked Clams, Shrimp-Vegetable dumplings, Crabcakes and Flounder Stuffed with Crab, everything was excellent. I used to enjoy going to Jeff's for years, but I recently went into his new store to buy some soft shell crabs and was shell-shocked (no pun intended) to see that he is charging $10/crab for tiny ones. I ender up finding another local seafood market charging $6.99 and bought half a dozen. Maybe he's offsetting his prices with the cost of his new location and cost to build, but I am no longer a customer until his prices get more aligned with reality (inflation and all). read more

We ordered three dozen oysters for our SMALL superbowl party and they were super fresh. We had a mix, I believe, of west and east coasts and JEFFS prepared them expertly. They provided us with some lemons and laid them out on circular ice platters that made it super easy to eat and serve. Each one was cleaned and scrubbed and shucked to perfection and he even provided some oyster juice on the side in case I wanted to freshen them up. Again, I didnt expect to have them prepared and set up so properly. When my wife returned I was hoping that she left a good tip! The price was also VERY REASONABLE and I called days in advance to check on availability of which they told me to call the day before or a couple in advance and tell them what I wanted if I wanted them cleaned and prepped for pickup. I have also bought large pieces of fish here for dinner parties before. Always best just to come down and let the guys know what you are doing and for how many and how your plans look, and then they will suggest something. Stick with a pro. read more

The seafood itself still deserves 5 stars. Great selection, so fresh and fair prices. But these days, safety is just as important and I'm surprised that Jeff's doesn't seem to care that much about their customers' health. I went in last week for littlenecks, which were great. The main guy behind the counter was masked properly but at least one of the boys in the back working on the soft shell crabs had his mask down under his chin. I gave them another chance on Father's Day but was appalled at the lack of safe practices. It's a tiny tiny space and the sign on the door says two customers only at a time. We were waved in though, as was another customer. Soon there were about 5-7 customers in that small enclosed space, WAY too many. Why go against your own posted policy? Some employees had masks, but the main guy behind counter had no mask at all and was talking loudly, explaining how to cook something. Perfect way to get people sick. A customer then pulled his mask down and started loudly asking questions. No one told him to fix it. By that point my wife was feeling unsafe and so was I, so we left and took our business elsewhere. Every store has to make adjustments for safety in the wake of COVID. There's just no excuse for this and I'm sad because I did love their seafood. It's not worth putting my health at risk though. read more

Another excellent Long Island fish market. Always a very good selection of fresh locally caught seafood. Owner is very hands on, I see him in the place pretty much every time I go there and he is extremely knowledgable, friendly and professional. Yes, as has been noted, he hires a lot of teenagers to work behind the counter but I'm not exactly sure when this became a bad thing. After shopping at Marty's Seafood (review available), a little south (on New York Avenue) from Jeff's Seafood, I ran into someone who was having a blast playing with my dog and told me that Jeff's Seafood was much better. I decided to try it. Hum... I did not think that the selection at Jeff's was as good as Marty's. In addition, I've always liked the fact that at Marty's, the workers always remember all patrons and give you suggestions as to how to cook the fish, season it, etc in addition to being friendly. At Jeff's, there was two teenager kids behind the counter. Hum... And Jeff's place is super small too. I was at Jeff's and there were about 7 people and all squeezed in the little store area. Marty's is more open and airy with a couple of tables inside for those who would like to eat there. I can't find myself switching from Marty's Seafood to Jeff's. I just did not find the quality of the fish to be better, did not find the locale to be any better and did not think the service was any better. I will stay loyal to Marty's Seafood. read more

This place is the real deal with fresh fish and yes, odorless. I'm super picky about fish - if there is even a hint of fishiness/seawater taste to my fish I will throw it away after cooking it and taking one bite (this happens with supermarket fish, and the places on Rte 110). It's never happened with anything bought at Jeff's. They are also very polite in the store & over the phone. I once called to see if they had scallops and the guy said "yes, but they seem to be going fast today. Do you want me to save you some?" Wow! I said yes, I wanted 10 biggies, and when i got there they handed me a paper bag with my name on it (and most of the case scallops were gone, so it was a good idea they offered that!). I love old-fashioned neighborhood service like that (and i don't go in all the time, so i wasn't getting the "Regular" treatment). read more

I completely agree that Jeff's doesn't smell like anything. The place is completely odorless (not even a cleaning solution smell to the air). The only things I'll ever ask for at Jeff's are; local and fresh (possibly whole, but not necessary). Jeff's constantly has fisherman running up into the place with the days catch, so I know that the fish is fresh. I would never buy fish from the seafood counter at the supermarket, and only buy local fish from Jeff's. read more

No issues with the fish at all. Lots of variety and all fresh, as always. My criticism is with the staff and how they wore their face masks. Some were wearing their masks properly, covering their nose and mouth. Some staff were wearing their masks improperly by covering their mouth, but not nose. Hint, you breathe far more through your nose than your mouth. But, the owner was not wearing a mask at all. He was walking around the store among staff and customers. Seriously? I buy seafood from Jeffs at least once per week and am very pleased with the food. However I'm a little upset with my visit to Jeff's on 6/10/20. I can't for the life of me understand why they ask customers to wear masks before entering(which I believe is the right thing to do), yet the employees have their masks below their nose. I don't get it. Is it a cool thing? Did they already have the virus and don't feel the need to wear the mask? Does the boss not care? Please explain. read more
