This year, I had challenging alterations where my travel/carry-on bag was tearing due to wear and tear. Agnes was able to sew a unique triangular strap onto my travel bag. Her adjustment made the travel bag continue its long life. I highly recommend for any alterations or sewing need to come here. Butler's prices are the best in town. My only con is that if you need service during the weekend. You have to wait until Tuesday to get work done. The business is located in what looks like a residential house. I found the perfect handkerchief and all I needed was to find a place to get it done. I called around town and was told that because of the delicate fabric it would nearly be impossible to get done short of finding a little old lady that could hand sew. I mean, that is literally what one person told me. After panicking a bit (Where does my friend get it done? Who knows? I couldn't have asked though without stirring up her suspicion.) some kind person directed me here. Praise the Lamb, because they had me bring in the handkerchief to take a look at it and even though they had all the industrial machines in the back (I got a grand tour because I needed to pick out the perfect string colors--I didn't take pictures... because, well, it would have been odd. But believe me, they have half a million color options and the wall the colors are hung on is beautiful to look at) my handkerchief was done with care somewhere else. The staff were so very friendly. They treated me like an old friend and we were on the hunt for the perfect color combination for the embroidery. I really appreciated the time that they took and the kindness they showed my frazzled brain. My experience was with a small order and it was amazing the detail, I can only imagine how great of a job they do on larger products and orders.

I recently took a pair of ladies unlined dress pants to Em's to be shortened and re-hemmed. I…read morebought the pants, which were fairly expensive, to wear to my granddaughter's wedding and needed them back in a couple of weeks. The original hem in the pants was a blind stitch which every professional seamstress or tailor would agree is the appropriate hem for this type of pants. Em's was prompt in getting the pants back to me but she hemmed them on a sewing machine with a straight stitch and one leg was 1/2" shorter than the other. There was even double stitching in one area on the outside of the leg, very visible. I will not use her again. I took the pants to a professional alteration shop in town to be reworked with the proper blind stitch, they are charging me $15 vs Em's price of $25. Lesson learned!

I have been going to this woman for YEARS, whether it be for casual wear, formal wear, tops,…read morebottoms - you name it. I need most of my clothes hemmed for my height. But I was SO offended by how I was treated this morning. Last year, I took a bridesmaids dress to her 1 time, to which she kindly said "I'm not taking formal wear" to which I was assuming due to influx of formal wear due to wedding season. I haven't seen her until this time, which was this morning. This morning, I took 1 plain black polyester dress to her to ask if she could hem the bottom for me. I saw a sign on the door that said no formal dresses. I was under the impression it was not a formal dress due to the material and simplicity, but I'm no expert. When I walked in, she raised her voice to say "Stop bringing formal dresses!" This was in a very rude way, and in front of another customer. I had only taken her ONE formal dress to her the year before, as mentioned. I believe this could have been addressed in a kind manner due to "misunderstanding." But REGARDLESS, I feel like you shouldn't talk to customers like that - or any person for that matter! I refuse to support this business anymore
