Not only did my son not grow academically while he was here, he was belittled and humiliated for having an accident at school by one of the teachers. Another teacher accused him of touching other children "inappropriately" while playing "doctor"--(which the students are not supposed to play, but the teacher in that classroom is so disorganized and lazy that she doesn't supervise the kids--bottom line is no adult saw anything, they just wanted him out because he has an IEP and challenged them...). This was our final straw....we pulled our children out and have them already enrolled in another school. I feel awful for my kids for having to start in a new setting halfway through the year, but I know it will be for the best. Since pulling them out, many other parents are now sharing their horror stories with me about this place and are pulling their kids too! Unless they change leadership and some of the teachers, I urge you to look elsewhere!

His dorm is lovely (much nicer than my other son's dorm was at another school), his friends are fantastic, and he is thrilled to participate in activities. The campus has a genuine community feel. Academically, the professors care about students and make connections with them. The small class sizes and accessible faculty have meant that he has been offered opportunities that would not have been available to him at a larger schools. We feel confident that he is developing strong critical thinking, research, and communication skills that will prepare him for graduate school, which is his current trajectory. We are thrilled with the choir program (if your kid sings, join their choir!), which has been both enriching for him. We are also excited about the study abroad program he has applied to, as it reflects the school's commitment to global learning and academic exploration. If there is one area for continued growth, it would be investing in additional faculty and modest campus expansion, as the school's strong programs and close-knit environment would benefit from slightly increased capacity. Overall, this has been an excellent choice!

The oven and fridge in the common room had spilled food in them and the counters were not wiped down...and this was on day 1! I expect that kind of thing mid-semester, but this seemed a bit much on the first day. Our son went to the gym and he said all the equipment looked like it needed a good cleaning as well. The people have been very nice so far and I have been pleased with the interactions he's had with administration, but I was disappointed on the cleanliness.

The teacher is not encouraging and motivating at all. Instead, points out students' mistakes and mocks them in front other students and parents and crushes their self confidence, totally unprofessional and exactly opposite to what they should be doing. Not only she does that to the kids, but also yells at the older helping student who check other's work. For this particular center, there has been a number of parents who have left and enrolled them to other center. I hope that Kumon head office takes note of this and take necessary action. Since, my child started they have done nothing but try and get him to leave. When I contacted the daycare initially for him to start they were told by me he has services with the IU for behavior they said they can accommodate. Yeah until they start sucking up all your money and after two weeks of the start date they were trying to push him out stating they don't believe this is the right place for him. I contacted PA keys to advise them of there tactics they came to check it out was ok for awhile but didn't last. It was to the point they started making up stories of his unruley behavior that he needed to get picked up from the daycare which was the last straw for me and was needing to leave work because of this. So word of advise DO NOT PICK THIS DAYCARE UNLESS YOU HAVE A PERFECT CHILD!!!!

And this is not only coming from a very satisfied momma, but I am also a certified early childhood educator with a Masters Degree in Education. I am one of the pickiest moms you could ever imagine when selecting an early learning center for my daughter. I know exactly what to look for and the questions to ask. The curriculum is play based which is what is developmentally appropriate for this age. The classrooms all have teachers with a passion for children & teaching, degrees in early childhood education, and years of experience. They are also very nurturing and just amazing. We love the Cuddle Zone and recommend them to everyone we can! Please do not let the first review to deter you from visiting the center and forming your own opinion! I sent my children to Hope because my brothers and sisters all went to there and I knew it was a good school with amazing teachers and a lot of friends still recommended it. I do not have any plans to send my third child there as my experience this year was unacceptable. In past years there's been some issues here and there with the director. One was when my son had eye surgery; an effect of it was extremely bloodshot eyes. He was self conscious about it to begin with but then on his first day back at school the director announces loudly Oh My God what happened to his eyes. An adult should know not to do something like that and if she had questions she could have asked myself privately or his teachers who were well aware of the surgery and the side effects and had been prepping the kids for my son's return. Another issue we had was the director waited extremely long to cash checks. Months would go by and they wouldn't be cashed. But the kicker and final straw occured this year while my son as well as many others approached his teacher and the director about a bullying situation. Another child was picking on the boys of the class and hitting, pinching, kicking etc. This went on and on and on and the teacher didn't really do much. So finally myself and another parent addressed it to the director who let it roll right down her back like it was nothing. It got to the point where kids were terrified to go to school because of this child but since the school accepts all children they could not do anything. They also have no anti-bully rules and were unwilling to create them for the current school year. One day my son came home from school actually bleeding from the child and again I was told that they didn't actually see it happen so nothing would be done unless they could see it. She then went on to tell me that you can't just accuse people without facts even though 50% of the class had admitted to parents as well as the teacher they've been bullied. My response to that was look at the legal system every day criminals go on trial based on assumptions and she agreed that was a good point but I was still wrong and they would continue doing things they way she felt was best. She actually told me that they've only ever removed one child from their program due to the fact he continuously threw chairs!!!! I couldn't believe what I was hearing that a child had to on more than one occassion throw chairs at people before they were removed from the school. I want my children to be safe when they go to school and that statement right there proved that they are not safe at Hope Church Nursery School.

Felt inspired to give a personal perspective on hope in response. Hope is a wonderful place. Terrific, experienced teachers, a great group of kids and families, and charming and fun term end concerts. Our kids have great memories of Hope, and I still remember dropping off teary three year olds on the first day only to have them later on refuse to leave at the end of the morning because they loved their time there so much. It is a classic nursery school, probably not much different than the one I attended 4 decades ago, run by a warm and energetic director and fantastic teachers. We were lucky to have had the kids there.

Never will I attend another class here. They messed up my financial aid two times. The first time…read morethey charged me close to $4,000 because they made a mistake for my summer classes. The second time I should have only owed $235 for withdrawing from one class but they charged me for 2. I have emails showing that I only had one class that I withdrew from. It's a consistent thing and they don't have their act together. Their classes are not built for working students like they claim. Go somewhere with experience like Drexel, Lehigh or Moravian.
