I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Triple Negative breast cancer in January of 2025 and I knew that I…read morewanted a double mastectomy almost right away. I met with another surgeon who told me that I would have to have expanders and implants to supplement my DIEP flap surgery because I didn't have enough tissue in my stomach to rebuild my breasts (which are a B cup). Due to infections during treatment and having to have my chest port removed I didn't want to put any foreign objects in my body. A former co-worker was a patient of Dr Srinivasa's and she came highly recommended. We did a virtual consult and she was confident that she could do the flap surgery without expanders or implants, she's not a fan of expanders and I understand why. When she told me she didn't believe in putting someone through something that wasn't necessary I knew she was it. The first surgeon also told me they were going to take my nipple and lymph nodes as well as skin around my nipple because they operate based upon what the cancer was when it started. Dr Srinivasa and her team did a nipple delay surgery two weeks before the mastectomy and DIEP flap to check for cancer in those areas BEFORE removing them unnecessarily. I'm about 3 months post surgery and I couldn't be happier about what Dr Srinivasa and her team have done to help me feel as whole as possible after this. She saved my nipples and did a double mastectomy and DIEP flap all in one surgery. This woman is amazing!

As we were talking before my latest surgery I remember looking around the room at the beautiful smiling faces of my attending staff. I saw how diligent they were in their duties. It was clear that they wanted to make sure that I was informed and comfortable.I felt blessed to have such an amazingly talented group of people to look after me. When Dr. Powers saw me looking around she kindly asked me if I was okay and I said oh, yes I am just admiring my dream team. In addition to her megawatt awesomeness she is a skilled and thoughtful surgeon. Dr. Powers makes the most beautiful sutures. When I got my breast implants, liposuction and mini tummy tuck done in 2000 I remember so vividly how in awe of I was of her stitches. The first time I sought out Dr. Powers I was in my mid 20's and I felt insecure and uncomfortable in my own body. I found it hard to look at myself naked or be seen naked. I needed Dr. Powers after my 2nd baby had turned 1 or two years old. My 2nd pregnancy left me feeling like I was swimming in a sea of loose skin and stretch marks. I had rapidly gained and lost a lot of weight in a short period of time. As I was recovering from my surgery I remember looking at my sutures in complete awe. They were so small and so perfectly put in that I found it hard to believe that they were done by a human being. I would have sworn they were done on a sewing machine. Between her gluing my skin, stitching my skin and placing vitamin E oil tape over the stitches I was left with nothing more that an indistinguishable crease line that seemed to be a naturally occurring pattern on my skin. In addition to her great skills and work ethic she is a delightful person to talk with. Her impressively wide depth of knowledge extends in so many directions I always find myself learn something new. All you have to do is talk with Dr. Powers briefly to see how truly remarkable she is as a Surgeon and as an individual person. Hand to goddess without fail I always find myself gut laughing during every conversation we have.
