I feel so lucky that I found Dr. Jen Stark at the beginning of my search. I have never met a surgeon who is as compassionate, caring, and empathetic as Dr. Stark. She is incredibly detail-oriented, and you can tell how much care, perfectionism, and artistry she puts into her work. As a patient, that was especially comforting to me because I knew I was going to be asleep while she was doing something that was so important to me. Knowing that I could completely trust her while I was out, and that she understood exactly what I wanted and would do everything she could to make it happen, was honestly the best feeling. The recovery was also so much easier than I expected. I am not particularly good with elective surgeries or recovery, so I was prepared for the worst. It ended up being much less painful than I expected, and I healed much faster than I thought I would. Throughout the recovery, Dr. Stark was always available whenever I had questions or started to feel anxious. She was so reassuring and made me feel like I was never bothering her. The rest of the staff was amazing too. Leslie was always there to answer all of my questions (and there were a LOT of them!). She was so patient and comforting throughout the entire process. Sierra also made the financial side of everything very clear and seamless, which made one less thing for me to worry about. I truly could not have asked for a better experience or a better outcome. This surgery has made such a difference in my life, and I am so grateful that I found Dr. Stark. I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Triple Negative breast cancer in January of 2025 and I knew that I…read morewanted a double mastectomy almost right away. I met with another surgeon who told me that I would have to have expanders and implants to supplement my DIEP flap surgery because I didn't have enough tissue in my stomach to rebuild my breasts (which are a B cup). Due to infections during treatment and having to have my chest port removed I didn't want to put any foreign objects in my body. A former co-worker was a patient of Dr Srinivasa's and she came highly recommended. We did a virtual consult and she was confident that she could do the flap surgery without expanders or implants, she's not a fan of expanders and I understand why. When she told me she didn't believe in putting someone through something that wasn't necessary I knew she was it. The first surgeon also told me they were going to take my nipple and lymph nodes as well as skin around my nipple because they operate based upon what the cancer was when it started. Dr Srinivasa and her team did a nipple delay surgery two weeks before the mastectomy and DIEP flap to check for cancer in those areas BEFORE removing them unnecessarily. I'm about 3 months post surgery and I couldn't be happier about what Dr Srinivasa and her team have done to help me feel as whole as possible after this. She saved my nipples and did a double mastectomy and DIEP flap all in one surgery. This woman is amazing!

The first time I sought out Dr. Powers I was in my mid 20's and I felt insecure and uncomfortable in my own body. I found it hard to look at myself naked or be seen naked. I needed Dr. Powers after my 2nd baby had turned 1 or two years old. My 2nd pregnancy left me feeling like I was swimming in a sea of loose skin and stretch marks. I had rapidly gained and lost a lot of weight in a short period of time. As I was recovering from my surgery I remember looking at my sutures in complete awe. They were so small and so perfectly put in that I found it hard to believe that they were done by a human being. I would have sworn they were done on a sewing machine. Between her gluing my skin, stitching my skin and placing vitamin E oil tape over the stitches I was left with nothing more that an indistinguishable crease line that seemed to be a naturally occurring pattern on my skin. In addition to her great skills and work ethic she is a delightful person to talk with. Her impressively wide depth of knowledge extends in so many directions I always find myself learn something new. All you have to do is talk with Dr. Powers briefly to see how truly remarkable she is as a Surgeon and as an individual person. The recovery was extremely painful. The skin on my back felt so tight that simply laying on my back hurt. I was dealing not only with the normal discomfort of recovering from liposuction, but also the pain of the burn and watching what eventually became a very noticeable scar develop on my body. The emotional impact has been even harder. I chose cosmetic surgery because I wanted to feel more confident in my body. Instead, I have been left trying to hide a scar that has deeply affected my self-esteem. I have spent time, money, and energy seeing a dermatologist and looking into treatments to try to improve something I never had before this procedure. What has disappointed me most is the response afterward. I asked the office if they could reimburse me or at least help cover the medication my dermatologist recommended to lighten the scar, and I was told they could not. That response was incredibly upsetting to me. I wanted help dealing with the physical and emotional consequences of what happened to my back. I understand that complications can occur with any procedure, but how a patient is treated after a complication matters. I am sharing my experience because I wish I had known something like this could happen and how little supported I would feel afterward. This scar is something I now have to see and live with every single day. What was supposed to improve my confidence has instead caused pain, insecurity, additional medical expenses, and an emotional burden that has lasted far beyond my surgery.
