I feel so lucky that I found Dr. Jen Stark at the beginning of my search. I have never met a surgeon who is as compassionate, caring, and empathetic as Dr. Stark. She is incredibly detail-oriented, and you can tell how much care, perfectionism, and artistry she puts into her work. As a patient, that was especially comforting to me because I knew I was going to be asleep while she was doing something that was so important to me. Knowing that I could completely trust her while I was out, and that she understood exactly what I wanted and would do everything she could to make it happen, was honestly the best feeling. The recovery was also so much easier than I expected. I am not particularly good with elective surgeries or recovery, so I was prepared for the worst. It ended up being much less painful than I expected, and I healed much faster than I thought I would. Throughout the recovery, Dr. Stark was always available whenever I had questions or started to feel anxious. She was so reassuring and made me feel like I was never bothering her. The rest of the staff was amazing too. Leslie was always there to answer all of my questions (and there were a LOT of them!). She was so patient and comforting throughout the entire process. Sierra also made the financial side of everything very clear and seamless, which made one less thing for me to worry about. I truly could not have asked for a better experience or a better outcome. This surgery has made such a difference in my life, and I am so grateful that I found Dr. Stark. When I got my breast implants, liposuction and mini tummy tuck done in 2000 I remember so vividly how in awe of I was of her stitches. The first time I sought out Dr. Powers I was in my mid 20's and I felt insecure and uncomfortable in my own body. I found it hard to look at myself naked or be seen naked. I needed Dr. Powers after my 2nd baby had turned 1 or two years old. My 2nd pregnancy left me feeling like I was swimming in a sea of loose skin and stretch marks. I had rapidly gained and lost a lot of weight in a short period of time. As I was recovering from my surgery I remember looking at my sutures in complete awe. They were so small and so perfectly put in that I found it hard to believe that they were done by a human being. I would have sworn they were done on a sewing machine. Between her gluing my skin, stitching my skin and placing vitamin E oil tape over the stitches I was left with nothing more that an indistinguishable crease line that seemed to be a naturally occurring pattern on my skin. In addition to her great skills and work ethic she is a delightful person to talk with. Her impressively wide depth of knowledge extends in so many directions I always find myself learn something new. All you have to do is talk with Dr. Powers briefly to see how truly remarkable she is as a Surgeon and as an individual person. I have only been to one surgeon, but when another annoyance popped up under my tongue, I wanted to go somewhere closer to home. I was referred here yesterday, and they were able to get me in today. My issue is time-sensitive as the recurring lesion (aka annoyance) needs to be at least somewhat present in order to be examined and then excised. Dr. Lytle was super kind, and carefully listened to what I had to say (kind of a lot, as I have chronic health conditions), and then thoroughly examined my tongue. To my surprise, I was able to have the procedure done right then and there. My treatment plan was explained to me and I was taken back into their mini operating room. I will say, their mini operating room was very impressive! It's definitely not what I was used to from my other oral surgeon. I don't react well to epinephrine which is necessary to control bleeding, especially in a highly vascular area like the tongue. Dr. Lytle went out of his way to accommodate me and use as little epinephrine as possible which really helped me to not feel bad. The procedure was over before I knew it. The worst part were the lidocaine injections under the tongue, as it's very sensitive. I was numb before I knew it and couldn't feel anything after, which is what matters! The women assisting him were all very nice and pleasant, you could tell they enjoy their job and work well together. I was sent home with some gauze and aftercare instructions that were also explained to me in the office. Dr. Lytle and the front and back office staff all took excellent care of me. There is a reason this practice is highly-rated! I'm looking forward to my follow-up and I am happy to have found a great oral surgery practice nice and close to home.
