Relatively safe, although I have heard gun shots followed by police cars before. 4. Neighbors keep to themselves. 5. Water cost is included for now. 6. Comes with adorable stray cats, most neighbors feed them, while the landlord expressed hatred toward these defenseless souls. Con: 1. House feels weathered. I had leaky window and faucet when I first moved in. The walls are thin, there is little privacy even though this is a town house. The floor was so dirty that after 6 months of living here and moping the floor everyday, the water still comes out black. The carpet is old with stains everywhere. 2. No pet policy, nothing at all, not even if you want to look after your friend's hamster for a few days. 3. Sketchy neighbors. The place asks everyone to pay $25 for background check, but I doubt they do the checks, because even the rats living in my attic can tell some of them were drug dealers. 4. Condescending owner who is always on the defense when talking to you. She always assumes her tenants are either retarded or taking advantages of her. 5. I kept reporting water leakage in my apartment and the only time she sent someone to fix it was when they realized their water bill was off the roof. Property owner doesn't even bother to hire a professional when the water pipe broke, the poor maintenance guy had to fix it by himself. Or they stopped the water on purpose to keep the water bill down, who knows, the owner is not that trust worthy. 6. No recycle bin, stray cats come feast in the dumpster all the time. Overall: It is decent place for a temporary stay if you want to save money. Semi-family friendly, not pets friendly (not sure if I trust people who cannot love animals), not environmental friendly. You are stuck with rats as pets when you move in and free alarm clocks when neighbors wake up at 4 or 5 AM for work, and you'll never be late for work. It is very hard to find apartment in this area. I suggest you look at Hickory. I have also noticed it is almost impossible to get a good deal on Internet in Lenoir. If you work in Lenoir, the drive from Hickory is still totally worth it.

The receptionist was really helpful giving recommendations on things to do and there were soaps and hats for purchase in the front lobby. It was about a 30 minute drive to Banner Elk where there's a lot more to do/places to eat. We got there around 10:30pm and the office was closed, but our key and room number/instructions were taped to the lobby door in an envelope so we were able to check in without anyone being there which was nice. It's definitely a rural area, there's minimal cell service depending on where you're standing. It's really perfect for disconnecting and getting in touch with nature.

Our latest visit just a few months ago was just as special: the Fishing Bear cabin did not disappoint. It was just as quaint and cozy as we remembered it. The property has expanded over the years to include a beautiful little pond fed by a creek which is truly meditative in the morning mist, picnic tables, and by the owner's home, a barn with the sweetest ponies (and a mule!) that you'll ever meet. Cross Creek Cabins is right off the Blue Ridge Parkway and conveniently located near the Linville Caverns, Linville Falls, Grandfather Mountain, Blowing Rock and Tweetsie Railroad. Along the windy road of 221, you'll find some curious little gift shops and mercantiles! Boone is under 30 minutes away. There are several other cabins available on the property, I believe most of the accommodate larger groups. The owners are professional and courteous. At the time, they did not offer wifi, and our little hotspot had a hard time trying to catch a signal... but after all, you're in the mountains to relax, right? :) We've tried other cabins managed by rental companies but there is something special about Cross Creek. This place is our mountain getaway of choice!

The owner asked me to keep my Grandson away from it and that someone would be coming to get it. It extended across the deck, so I was a little concerned he might try to climb it. During our stay he turned around to leave the deck and forgot it was there and bumped his head on it. We walked around it all weekend. No one ever came to remove it. Also, there are electric wall heaters in all the bedrooms and living room as well as a propane fueled fireplace in the living room. There are no smoke detectors or carbon monoxide detectors in the entire cabin. The area is beautiful. There was plenty of utensils and linens. The cabin was very clean. If you don't mind the owner's lack of concern for your safety, it's a nice place to stay.

Stressful and careless resort…read more We love visiting Appalachian Mnt all four seasons. We have used ABnB, private renting, and Marriott as well in the past. We really liked to rent from moms/pops and the cabin setting more so we decided to try Willow Valley when I saw the listing from Interval International. As much as I was expecting cozy and relaxing time with my family for 6 days, it turned out to be a very stressful and quite a shock how careless the management here. Checked in to a Cabin and thought it was cute and cozy but quite concerned the fact that we had informed the reservation we have disabled veteran but the entry to in-cabin stairs were very steep, especially in the cabin. Next thing my son is screaming "there's rat poop on the bed!!" and sure enough- mouse feces all over the bed and the floor. To ruin the evening we had positive attitude trying to understand and be optimistic. We started stripping the blanket, and pillow covers to wash it then ALL the pillows had brownish-yellow stains. We brought only one 3 oz of laundry detergent not expecting we would do blanket and linen laundry on our first day there. When we turn on the shower to wash off our travels- the water was brown- coming out of the shower head. We had to run it for a while to clear out. This is truly something we did not want to do driving 5 hours in the rain. The next day it was snowing. It was freezing in the cabin and the heater would not get high enough to keep us warm. We were directed to get log for the fire place so we accepted that was what needed to be done. Then the dish washer leaked and flooded the whole floor. We asked to be moved to another room but no room were available. Asked some assistance to the manager and we were told the GM is not there. When we asked what can be done, the front desk lady raised her voice and started yelling. I was very much dumbfounded by her behavior. Actually felt helpless with our family stuck in the cabin that is wet - cold - and rat infested. We cut the our trip in half and just left. We asked the front desk staff requesting a call regarding Thai incident. Never heard from him.

There are cute cabin themed decorations throughout. The view from the patio of this condo is amazing! Full view of Grandfather mountain and surrounding mountains. We got lucky and hit peak fall foliage. The colors are spectacular. They have a cute patio table that we had coffee and breakfast while braving the chilly temperatures to enjoy the fresh mountain air and beautiful views. They have a gas fireplace that is perfect to warm up after sitting outside on the patio . If you love to cook or bake, the kitchen is fully stocked with new or newer appliances like waffle maker, air fryer, slow cooker, nice sets of pots and pans. There are so many nice glasses for any kind of wine you may enjoy. The dishes are in full sets and definitely not mix match like many other rentals. Everything you need so no need to bring from home. Less than a mile away, there is a small waterfall and park called Otter Falls if you are a hiker. The waterfall is the kind you can sit on rocks and put your feet in. About 2 miles away Hawks Nest has snow tubing in the winter and zip lining any other times of the year. If you like to ski, Sugar and Beech mountains are not far away. There is plenty of parking too so no need to worry about parking. We wish we were staying longer!!

Though we were concerned about traveling while cases were still occurring in North Carolina, we felt reassured with our past experiences with Foscoe Rentals as well as the assurances on their website that they were following proper health protocols. I was happy that the unit I previously stayed in - CB-2 in Chalakee -- was available. Upon arrival at 6 p.m. on Friday evening, we encountered a nightmarish scene in the era of COVID -- a room that had not been serviced, with dirty sheets, items left unattended in the kitchen, and, because this is a new world -- no toilet paper. I immediately called the after-hours number and waited 45 minutes with no response. When I called the service again, I was placed on hold and connected to a staff member, Heather, who took ownership of the situation, which was eventually remedied. That said, this was an unforgivable lapse given the times in which we unfortunately live. I would have expected a reputable company like Foscoe would absolutely ensure housekeeping was done between rentals, and was disappointed with the self-advocacy that I found myself in, after hours, on a Friday. At this writing, I have not received any further follow-up. My advice -- insist upon confirmation of the unit's cleanliness before arrival, especially since they are following "contactless check-in" protocol and you will not be speaking with personnel prior to getting your key. UPDATE: Upon sharing my dissatisfaction with the management company, I received a refund of the housekeeping portion of my rental. This is satisfactory given the situation.

Just by luck we happened to take a short cut to the post office and we passed by Banner Cabinets. My husband wanted to go in to see if they could make us a pantry. I didn't think anyone could match the cabinets to our 30 year old kitchen but I went in to humor him. Boy was I suprised. Not only did they build us a perfect pantry but they matched our kitchen cabinets to a tee. We are beyond happy with the job they did.
