I came to Jennifer Hellberg in pain and fear. I have known TMJ pain for many years. Four years ago I had a fat graft transplant in my very dysfunctional and arthritic right jaw joint. I've been seeing Jennifer for several months with a tense back, bad shoulders and other "getting older" ailments. She is an amazing massage therapist. She takes the time, each visit, to find out how you are, what special areas might need a bit more or less attention, and sizing up what you might not even know about your own body. This recent massage I walked in and she immediately spotted that I was standing a little off to one side, evidently an unconscious attempt to keep some weight off a sore hip and tense lower back. She saw them and worked those kinks out during the session along with everything else. She has good, strong fingers and arms and can do everything from gentle warming to deep tissue work. And, unlike a few other MTs I've seen, she readily mixes them to meet your body's needs on that massage occasion. Not only is she very good at what she does, she is a funny and nice individual. I've had MTs who can't talk while they rub or if you ask them something, they can't give you a real answer. Jennifer can. I came in to Portland for a week to work with a local business. The Grand Hotel where i am staying has great accommodations but I must have slept wrong and woke up with a very painful back ache. As the day progressed it got worse. As i was driving back to the hotel later that day I called the concierge to see if they could recommend a massage therapist who could help me. They recommended Jennifer and she came over within an hour. Jennifer was very knowledgeable about my predicament and began to work on me. She has lots of skills and was able to begin by stretching me out. (no easy task). And then proceeded to work on me with a very therapeutic massage. I was so relaxed as she worked on me. Jennifer's interpersonal skills allowed her keep me relaxed as she guided me through what she was doing. She was thorough and took her time. After she left i got a message from her making sure i followed up by drinking lots of water, more stretching and she told me to take a walk. I agree with Lisa 100%. She is much more than a massage therapist. She has been working on my neck and shoulders for a short time and has results that neither doctors nor chiropractors were able to achieve. My neck was tilted to the right for over 50yrs. and she is the only one that was able to make it straight. Chiropractors puts your joints in temporary alignment but Jennifer works on all your soft tissue to keep everything in alignment. My general posture has also improved a lot. She has a very broad educational and varied experienced background. Her interview is extensive and wants to get to know you as a person so she can better meet your personal needs for better health. She is a very warm and deeply caring professional person. I've gone to a number of other massage therapist and nobody comes even close. You are wasting your money if you don't choose her to help your body get better. She is definitely a healer and worth more than what she charges. You need to give her a call, you will thank yourself when you feel what she can do for you. read more

I found Jennifer through a Google search for 'intraoral massage,' and am so thankful that I did! I had been experiencing daily headaches (at least 2-4 hours in length) linked to finding out that I have been clenching my jaw in my sleep. I had reached a breaking point and had heard good things about intraoral massage and the relief people with forms of TMJ could have from receiving treatment. Jennifer is much more than a massage therapist. She truly has a gift for listening to you, what is happening in your life, things that may be stressing you or creating more stress for you, and helping you work out ways to relieve them (not only just through the massage therapy, which is fantastic!). I have seen Jennifer several times now and have been free from daily headaches since I first saw her, so I would recommend her to anyone. I called Jennifer to see if I could get some help with my lower back. I was in real pain and could barely bend over for everyday tasks. My back pain was from a hip pain(torn ligaments) and I just needed some quick relief so I thought "I will go get a massage", you know the kind to just to feel good for an hour or so........ This wasn't just a massage. This was a life changing experience and actually quite remarkable. I left Jennifer after an hour on her table able to bend, walk and resume total normal activity! Her method of massage is not even in the same realm as some of those 'chain' stores that you can find when you do a local search and totally worth every penny. I've been to many massage therapists. Most of these individuals specialize in one or two different practices. I have also had my share of massage approaches (Swedish, Thai, Rolfing, Cranial Sacral etc.). What I like about Jennifer is her expertise in multiple fields of massage. As a result, I feel like she gives more of complete and customized massage. I'm impressed at her desire for continued education as it tells me she is going above and beyond in her training minimums-to me that speaks volumes. I like the setting of the massages (her home office) which is very much an environment of welcome and relaxation. I see Jennifer for visceral manipulation. This therapy helps me manage a chronic digestive disorder. Jennifer is a very caring lady who is generous with her time and her heart. She has been attentive to the issues I have due to childhood trauma and has created a safe environment for me to be able to process the emotions that are trapped within my organs. I had the opportunity to have a massage at The Nines with Jennifer. I've had quite a few over the years and this was the best. She is respectful and professional in her approach and excellent in her technique. The real difference though is in her intuitive nature and integration off positive thought, breathing and holistic perspective. And her intra-oral massage was amazing- I've never had one & highly recommend it- there is so much more tension in your cheeks & jaws than you can imagine!
