Barn weddings and banquet halls are the rage around here and nothing felt right for us. Then I found a new (recently renovated) venue called Lake Michigan Gardens. We were sold. We did the vows outside with the pond, flowers, arbors, and space for guests to roam was lovely. The dining area is spacious and you can set it up how you prefer. The bar area is really great and us girls had fun in the brides room getting ready. Kristy, the event coordinator, is down to earth and so helpful and we just knew it was the spot for us. I think we may be the first wedding they have had, but I guarentee it will not be their last. They will work with you on vendors and your thoughts and wants. Weddings are crazy, but ours went smoothly and it had a lot to do with Lake Michigan Gardens. I highly recommend checking out this lovely spot. All of my family and friends had nothing but high praises for the venue and a beautiful day there.

There is plenty of parking (with signage) and even an overflow parking area. The outdoor ceremony location has a turf ground and surrounded by trees. The turf made it easy to walk with heels and the trees helped provide more of a romantic secluded environment. The reception area had an outdoor tent area (for the post ceremony appetizers and drinks) and an indoor area (for the formal dinner). Can't say anything from a planning/organization standpoint but everything went smoothly from a guest's perspective and it was a lovely area to attend a wedding.

Awesome fun space in Cassopolis, Michigan! Becky is so sweet and treats everyone like family…read more Watching her hang out with her alpacas and getting to meet Bacchus, the resident dog, was a treat! We spent the first morning there just taking photos of the incredible property and antiques! We were a five minute drive from Diamond Lake and spent the day kayaking. That night we made popcorn and watched a movie in the barn. There is a projector so it was like a private theater complete with a big antique couch to snuggle on! Our bedroom was so comfy and the down blankets felt like the best thing ever after our long afternoon on the water! In the morning, I took a bubble bath while my husband cooked a delicious frittata with farm fresh eggs and peppers right from Becky's garden! Talk about a killer breakfast! After breakfast, we drove up to Warren Dunes and spent the afternoon climbing Tower Hill and swimming. We hit up several fun antique shops on the way back, and stopped into Vaselyks to pick up some smoked pork chops that we cooked up over the fire! We made smores for dessert and laid out under the stars. Becky even made us some chocolate chip cookies from scratch that we nibbled on! I can't tell you how great it was to reconnect with nature and enjoy such a fabulous romantic weekend in the country!

Mod Events is a collaborative of event lighting and photo booth rental. The owner, Chris, came to…read moreour rescue when our original photo booth rental left us high and dry a month before our wedding (deciding that they were no longer taking reservations for 2012, even though we have e-mails proving our reservation). We had already ordered lighting from Chris and the only reason we didn't reserve Mod's photo booth in the beginning is because it was out of our budget (however, it was the one we really wanted to begin with). Mod is professional, fun, amazing, and has the BEST photo booth and lighting equipment around. It was absolutely worth spending the extra money, as the photo booth made our wedding unforgettable! The lighting made the ballroom (Shadowland) SO romantic and beautiful. My wife and I, as a same-sex couple, did not expect to have such great service (especially in West Michigan) but Mod along with all of our other vendors, was extremely accepting and amazing. Seriously, hire them for your wedding or other event- you will NOT regret it!! Also, I can't believe they didn't already have a page on Yelp but I am happy to be the first to review them!

Horrible experience, the venue was not mowed, nor racked before my son and daughter in laws…read morereception set up, The venue stated a year ago when we met with them for the first time that they would have everything needed to help with the reception and when it came down to it they not only lied about that they also got mad because we chose to use our own vendors instead of what they offered in the contract it states they have electrical outlets as well as generators on the property as well as extra tents if needed available and when it came time for our vendors to arrive we found they had no electricity on the property at all then they got an attitude about needing electricity they said it was our responsibility to provide the electricity and everything for our reception that they are just a platform for the reception, they then began threatening my daughter in law and son to start charging them an extra 100.00 on the hour if we did not get off the property with everything taken down at 10pm which is when our reception was supposed to end, she then began telling me as I refused to let my children have their night ruined that we was supposed to shut our reception down at 7pm and begin cleaning up the venue and being gone at 10pm all she wanted to say was look at your contract which we have and the fact is she put the dates on the contract but no times and she signed it, as well as the contract we have says that the bar and DJ has to shut down at 10:30pm, the driveway to the venue is also very narrow and they have a large camper sitting at the top of the entrance way as well as 2 vehicles making it very hard to pull in and out of the venue. These people sent us several very nasty text messages and were very untruthful they then said they would be sending us an itemized bill for what they helped with again stating this is in the contract which again is not.
