I've been coming to SF Community Acupuncture for a decade, and every time I walk in, I feel the same thing: welcome, safety, and kindness. I truly believe in acupuncture and Eastern medicine, and this time I came in for hip pain and sciatica. As a food service worker, I'm on my feet all day, every day. I came in yesterday in so much pain, and after one hour of treatment, I felt a release. Today, I feel 80% better. I'm writing this review to thank the space, the practitioners, and the staff. Despite all the madness in the world, place like SF Community Acupuncture still exist, a place that care for regular folks like me who do not have tech income or easy access to healthcare. Thank you.

She not only got right to the spot but was thoughtful, knowledgeable, and generous with her time-- we went over by quite a bit because she was giving me more time to rest. I felt extremely taken care of after some past bad experiences with doctors/ other acupuncturists. I just started on a larger chronic pain treatment journey and I'm so relieved to have found her. I can't wait to return. Thank you so much Rebecca! You're a queen!

Lovely holistic health & acupuncture clinic in the Mission…read more It's hard to hold healing space among all the energy colliding around this area; DHH clinic must be such a gift to the neighborhood even if direct neighbors aren't clients (yet). My session was with Ilana, and she gave the most PAINLESS treatment. I barely noticed even a hint of pressure. Ilana was very sweet, careful, and knowledgeable. I get acupuncture every 5 days or so, and since my normal DACM was away for holidays, I was happy to try Double Happiness for a trial. Some practitioners use more needles; Double Happiness seems more pared down, minimal needles, simpler more focused treatments. Depending on your constitution / relationship w qi, you may take better to one over the other. I have been receiving hundreds of acupuncture sessions at this point, and I know what works for me: sometimes my body will ping a point that needs attention. Unfortunately we weren't able to do those points this session. I felt a bit rushed and think the intake and payments process can be streamlined better; am unlikely to return for these three reasons, but acupuncture is a subjective experience and you just have to find the right practitioner for you. Some acupuncturists can simply be LIFE CHANGING. Despite not being the right fit for me, I hope Double Happiness thrives in the neighborhood, and I think this clinic is so needed in the city. Beautiful clinic and a beautiful offering.

I drive all the way from Berkeley, where I now live, to see Sascha at Tree of Qi in San Francisco…read more He is the only acupuncturist I have found so far who has been able to help with my spondyloarthritis -- an autoimmune condition causing pain and swelling in joints of the feet, hips, and back. Sascha is genuine, thoughtful, skillful, nuanced, artful, and scientific in his approach to treatment. He provides light emotional-spiritual coaching alongside the needle treatment, and I find that to be a very important component of healing from chronic conditions. I highly recommend Sascha to people with autoimmune or other health struggles.

I've been going through a lot in my personal life and I needed some somewhat immediate relief so I booked a session looking for reiki and acupuncture. Sascha read me so easily and immediately saw the level of distress I was in. He accurately and quickly assessed me after asking about what was going on in my personal life and then proceeded straight into the session. He had me on his table for an hour and I swear to god I left that office feeling like a new woman. Prior to this session I was walking around with so much stress and anxiety and I walked out feeling completely different. In case you were curious what kind of treatment I got Sascha centered my treatment around hormonal regulation and calming down my nervous system. It was absolutely what I needed. Sascha has absolutely found a lifelong customer in me and im so grateful I found him

I had a terrible pinched nerve near my scapula as a result of sleeping oddly on a camping trip…read more I've never had or heard of anything like this (and neither had Akasia) but she solved it in a single session! I think most people are carrying far more tension and pain around than they need to. I've done my shoulders, low back, forearms, jaw, and more. I never released until releasing the small muscles in the top of my neck that you should be able to look straight up in one smooth motion, with no impedance. I'm a regular at AcuGroup now Five stars from someone who thought needles etc were too "woo" for me. Once your muscles start jumping and releasing I think you'll update! I've recommended all my friends and family to Akasia, and just now remembered that I also need to leave a review!

(I am copying this review from one I left on Jeannie's personal Yelp to make sure it's visible for…read moreAcuGroup, too) Jeannie is a miracle worker! I won't bury the lede - her holistic approach (not just acupuncture) allowed me to get pregnant after a single month of weekly treatment after a few months of trying on our own, at age 39 (!). From our first appointment, I felt that I was in good, capable hands. She has a really well thought out intake process that's much more detailed than what you'd get with other acupuncturists and even functional medicine providers, and she actually acts on the information in the intake form. I have some background in science, nutrition and healthcare and was very impressed with her wealth of knowledge - not just in terms of classical Chinese medicine, but also the most recent integrative Western medicine research to address any concerns and quality of life issues thoughtfully, safely, and effectively. Her intake was very calming and consisted of a back and forth about treatment goals, where in addition to easy to follow advice, she'd recommend additional resources like podcasts or reading if I expressed interest, and she event offered me a device to use for free because she had one at the office. This was followed by a soothing acupuncture session in a darkened, calm room and wave sounds. She has those red lights for your feet or body to make you feel extra cozy during the time the needles are working (which, by the way, are extremely thin and not to be feared - it's a small prick and that's it). Subsequent appointments were also very enjoyable - I felt like I was going to a combination of a spa and true medical guru. Jeannie answered my questions thoroughly and if I had any new concerns come up would readily suggest lifestyle, dietary, or supplement interventions to help, which were effective a number of times, in addition to placing needles at points meant to support whatever was happening. She also has a number of helpful handouts on all sorts of topics. When I first arrived to see her, my nerves were frayed and I was sleeping poorly, and within a few appointments the acupuncture shifted me to a space of more calm and better sleep (it's not my first time with acupuncture, so I knew it'd be helpful for this)... and then I got pregnant! On a personal level, I think Jeannie's warmth and passion for helping, as well as her considerable knowledge base, was a big part of the treatment success. She is truly a gem and has a great sense of humor when you need it, and is very subtle and nurturing - the perfect clinician. She even followed up with me after I sadly had to move far away to make sure that I was getting good care from others. Truly, this was one of the best medical experiences I've had to date (and that's not even counting the incredibly quick pregnancy!); we are so lucky that she still makes the trek to SF for seeing patients. As an aside, the SF AcuGroup office is very easy to get to via public transport, and is always clean and calm. I enjoy seeing all the holistic and Chinese Medicine books on their shelves and the overall pleasant atmosphere.

Let me just start by saying that Denise is simply amazing!…read more I came to the root and the branch because I had low energy, felt tired all the time, and I had recently lost the taste (or rather had a constant metallic taste in my mouth). Because my regular MD wanted to send me to a bunch of different specialists to find out what this was, I decided to take the more holistic route. And I am glad I did. First, Denise is very thorough in her intake. She really took the time to ask questions, and look at every detail of my health. After her detective work done, she explained what was going on with my body from an eastern medicine perspective. It made complete sense to me. Acupuncture, along with nutrition changes and herbs worked - my sense of taste is back! Being at the Root and the Branch is always a relaxing experience, and you are treating as a whole, which care and compassion. Denise is always positive, encouraging and such a positive spirit - we all need a Denise in our life :) She is a very gifted holistic practitioner. Thank you!
