Jennifer Whalen Weddings gave my wife the dream weddings she never knew she wanted. While my wife thought she wanted a traditional wedding, after the stress of trying to coordinate one with all our family/friends and looking at the crazy cost of even a simple wedding, we decided to elope. After finding Jennifer Whalen and seeing the Big Sur Stary night package we never looked back. Jennifer did an excellent job helping us through the whole process and providing clear directions (lots of checklist!) when we had our wedding at Big Sur in June of 2025. The recommendations Jennifer gave us all worked out extremely well and she gave solid advice on how to tweak things to our liking (like about hairdresser and lodging - we did Glenn Oaks grove for our wedding + Tinkle Pink in for honey money). Having our ceremony in the woods and traveling to beautiful beachside cliffs/beaches was a day that made our day more like an adventure. We have so many memories from that day and the pictures still bring tears to my wife's eye when she sees them (I put some of them as our Roku backdrop so they show up on our TVs every now and then) Advice I would give for anyone planning on doing this is prepare for all sorts of weather for your self and spouse as it could be super-hot or super cold/wet so just bring some photo worth options and plan your clothes for whatever comes. Absolutely LOVED working with Jennifer and Espresso Weddings. I was looking for a wedding photographer that wasn't cheesy with their poses and specifically wanted shots that looked more natural and candid. Once I saw her website, I was hooked. Immediately, I reached out to Jennifer and she was great at communicating and setting up a time for our engagement photos. She told us we'd have our photos by a certain date and actually sent us a link to our album a week before then! We really liked how the photos captured our personalities and how fun they were to take. I'm always awkward when taking pictures and am unsure of where my hands go (much like Ricky Bobby in Talladega Nights), but I basically did whatever I wanted and Jen got a gajillion great photos. She is SUPER organized and has one of the coolest ideas called table races. I really wanted photos of us with EVERYone who came to our wedding and Jen does this thing where the bride and groom run around and take photos with every single table. It was done in less than 5 minutes, as time was a concern of ours, and they turned out so fun! We got the package that included a wedding book and I couldn't narrow down the photos I liked because there were so many! So I basically picked a ton of pics and let Jen do her magic. My husband and I felt we couldn't have made a better decision in choosing Jen and Dan for our engagement session and wedding photography. My first meeting with Jen and Dan, I was blown away. She had put together a timeline for our wedding day by that evening and emailed it to us. I knew from that moment that they were it! Our engagement session location was at Elysian Park, their suggestion, of course. And we were amazed with the variety of photos we received from that shoot. Our wedding had to be postponed several times being another 2020 wedding and all. And Jen came in to save the day, yet again. Wedding planning can be stressful, and my fiance and I did a lot of research to pick vendors. We knew photography was an area we didn't want to skimp on, yet we still wanted to stay within a reasonable budget. The memories of the day are so important, so we had to find someone we trusted. We researched many vendors on wedding wire and came across Espresso because we really loved their wedding videos. We exchanged some emails and we had tons of questions, and they were always responsive. We met with Jennifer and Dan at a local coffee shop. We liked their friendly personalities and how well they seemed to work together in answering our questions. Jennifer is the photographer and Dan does the videography. After we booked them, we exchanged many more messages and Jennifer was always responsive. She also agreed to meet us at the venue during the final walk through in order to scout the location. It worked well because she was able to talk to the venue manager to clear up some questions and we also got to walk on the grounds with her to get some photo ideas. Fast forward to the day of wedding and Jennifer and Dan were on top of their game. They worked together so well, and alternated between photo and video without missing a beat. I could tell they both had their visions and were very focused on getting all the shots they needed. With the help of our planner, we had a very detailed timeline including the names of all of the family to be photographed, so that really made the formal family shots go much more smoothly. Jennifer did a great job wrangling all the guests, and also of taking the special shot we wanted of all of the guests right after the ceremony. This is where my new husband and I walked down to the end of the aisle, followed by the wedding party and immediate family, and all the guests turned around, and Jennifer got on a ladder to take the group shot. They also have this fun photo op called "table races" where they have us run to each table right after the grand entrance, accompanied by fast paced music. This was a great way to get those photos with each table done within the first 5 minutes of the reception! After looking through the photos (there were almost 1,000!), I saw so many wonderful shots of the memories of that day, many of them candid, and realize that we probably didn't even notice they were there capturing those shots, but that's a testament to just how unobtrusive they were. Jennifer was able to get us all of the photos and the raw video files within 2 weeks after the wedding. We are told the edited highlight video will take couple of months, and we can't wait for that! read more

She was kind, patient and incredibly flexible!! We wanted to keep our wedding date during quarantine, and even at an over 6ft distance she got the most incredible moments and helped us to relax- even when the stress of security was just around the corner. She got us the photos SO FAST too, and was just an all-around great person to work with! Jennifer and Dan are the perfect photo/video duo. They were kind and patient from the first day that my wife and I met them at the trade show. Jennifer makes is so easy to be on camera with her. I can't say enough about Jen and Dan! They are so amazing to work with since they work really well together. They did such a great job capturing all the candid moments that my husband and I might've missed. They suggested a table run where the DJ plays a song and we had to run to every single table before the song ended. They took candid photos of everybody from each table. We love Jennifer Whalen's ability to capture the real moments of laughter and happiness at our engagement shoot and on our wedding day. It's been over a year and a half but I figured better late than never! We had a great experience working with Jennifer. We hired Espresso for videography on our wedding day. When we saw their work on their site, we were blown away and decided to book them even though they were a bit out of our price range. After booking, we met with Jennifer to get to know her a bit. She was kind and direct. In all our communications via email & phone from our initial meeting to the wedding day she continued to be helpful & straight to the point. She went out of her way to meet us in person and see the venue, and then scout out wedding photo locations near the ceremony spot (far from the actual reception venue). Jen was wonderful! We love her editorial eye and feel like our photos are straight out of a magazine! From our first meeting we knew she was the right photographer for us. She just put us completely at ease and every photo was a good one from our engagement session and our wedding. On our wedding day she brought Chris and his photos are equally as gorgeous.
