Matt B. and I just celebrated our first anniversary, so this review is really overdue. Michael and Anna Costa did a wonderful job capturing our wedding, and we will cherish our photos till death do us part. Matt first met the Costas when they photographed his best friend's wedding in Santa Barbara in 2008, and he remembered them when we started looking for photographers. His friends had hired the Costas' assistant, who cost considerably less, but when she quit, the Costas subbed in for her without any problems or raises in price. They took beautiful photos--we looked at them closely before making our decision. Another of Matt's friends from high school also ended up hiring the Costas after that wedding. When we hired our wedding planner, Ariel Yve (who is wonderful), she highly recommended the Costas. She said they did wonderful work for a fair price, and that they had photographed her wedding as well. We set up an interview with Michael and that was that. Everything had aligned. Michael took our engagement photos, and we got both Anna and Michael to shoot our wedding. The engagement photos were nice and awkward, but they turned out well, and they helped us get comfortable with Michael and his cameras. Michael and Anna are great people, very friendly and professional. They knew how to corral everyone for portraits, and to help me and Matt relax in front of the camera. I was advised before selecting wedding photographers that personality matters a lot--you probably spend more time with your photographers than with your closest friends and family on your wedding day. We felt at ease with the Costas. We took a million pictures on the wedding day, with Michael and Anna working hard from morning until well into the night. They captured everything, and our pictures came out beautifully. Our package came with full sets of both digital images and 4 x 6 prints in a custom box, as well as an album, two parent albums, and credit for larger prints of our choosing. It took us a while to get some of these things, but most of that was on our end. It's hard to pick your favorite pictures from an event as big and well covered as your own wedding. There were some problems with the website, but the Costas actually comped us extra prints to make up for them. All in all, great to work with. We went to another wedding in March, and were surprised to hear our names called out while we munched on hors d'oeuvres on a Pacific Palisades patio. We looked up and saw Anna Costa with her camera in hand. The couple, who had neither been to our wedding nor sought our advice, had hired our wedding photographers. I think the takeaway of this review is that everyone between L.A. and Santa Barbara is hiring the Costas, and that we all end up pretty pleased with that decision. We are so happy we went with Michael and Anna Costa as our photographers for our wedding. We first talked to Anna over the phone and immediately hit it off with her. Her down to earth personality and passion for her job and organization is why we felt we knew we found the right photographer. We first had Michael for our engagement photos and he made us feel relaxed the entire time and gave us great directions. We were lucky to have both Michael and Anna shoot our wedding! We got married in Santa Barbara at the Santa Barbara Historical Museum in November 2018 and knowing they have shot at this venue many times was very comforting. We were lucky enough to have Michael Costa capture our wedding at Sunstone Winery. Since we were getting married at such a naturally gorgeous place, we wanted our wedding to highlight the natural scenery - especially in the pictures. Leading up to the wedding, Anna - his wife - was very organized and talked us through the entire process to make sure we were all on the same page. Michael did a fantastic job capturing lighting, the beauty in the landscape - especially contrasting colors which turned out beautifully in the photos, candid moments, and the vibe of the party. He was also surprisingly hilarious, and a pleasure to work with, making our entire wedding party feel at ease even though we were taking photos under 95 degree heat. My wife and I could not have been more pleased with the amazing job Michael and Anna did on our wedding photos. We researched and interviewed many photographers before deciding on them and we were so happy we did! Michael and Anna's style and attitude really put us at ease on our wedding day and was one of the aspects we loved most about working with them. They gave great direction when they needed to and for the most part let us and our wedding party just be ourselves as they worked. One of my big concerns with the photographers was that they were going to be noticeably taking photos of everyone all night and people would feel uncomfortable. Not the case with Michael and Anna! Of all the things that I knew were important to me for our wedding, having the right photographer was easily at the top of the list. We were married in February and chose Maui as our destination - having known several couples that used Michael and Anna we found that not only their style of photography suited us, but also their personalities. Prior to our engagement session, I was SUPER nervous. My fiancé was not thrilled with the idea of walking around town and having his photos taken by a complete stranger for an hour. And I happen to find this studio on yelp. The ratings were great but when I went on their website, I could see why their reviews were so highly rated. From the first day I spoke with Anna she was really attentive and extremely helpful with planning our timeline and determining the right package for our big day.
