I walked in and she greeted me with a smile so I asked her if she could replace the zipper for me and while i stood there she pulled out a little box with many pull tabs and she proceeded to replace the pull tab and the zipper stop on the other side. It took her all of 5 minutes to fix my jacket with a pair of pliers and BEST OF ALL, I asked her how much I owed her for the repair and she graciously smiled at me and replied to me, "NO CHARGE"! WHO DOES THAT ANYMORE?! THAT is what GREAT Customer Service is ALL ABOUT!! She has gained a returning customer if we ever need to have another article of clothing tailored or repaired! She installed practical yet beautiful solutions for the bustle for my comfort and style. I have a ballroom gown, so it's BIG, but that was no problem for Lori. My dress came out beautiful and I am so excited to wear it in just a few weeks! I also used Lori to alter my grandmother's wedding dress. It's a delicate dress that was a bit small on me. We added panels, removed the sleeves, cut the length of the dress, and added some beautiful gathering in the waist to create an ankle-length gown with a boat neck style. She helped preserve the style of the dress while making it more comfortable for me. I cannot recommend Lori enough. I had used Skylark for a couple of years as they WERE a great taylor but now I will never use them…read moreagain or send friends to their business as I had done for so long. Here was my experience. I had 3 pairs of jeans hemmed at Skylark at a price point of about $30 a jean. A total of $90 is what I spent. I took one pair out of town and realized that they were still too long and so therefore, I could not wear them. All three pairs were still too long on me. When I was finally able to go back to their shop, the owner said that she would not do anything to correct them as it had been passed 15 days. Of course I did not know that there was a 15 day period! She tells me that it is written on the back of the little card they give you to pick up the items. When I told her that I wasn't told this when I brought my jeans in she said it was on the back of that card. Well, I didn't know I was supposed to read the back of the card for information! Also, why put it on the back of that card instead of also telling your customers?? Obviously, they don't want to tell the customers but then use this as an excuse not to fix their work. I asked her if she would fix the jeans as a one time courtesy since now, I know about the policy. She said again that I should have read the back of the card. Then said, "no". I would have to pay again to have the jeans altered which again were not done properly the first time. I would have to pay another $30 a pair which would add up to a total of $180 ($90 I paid the first time plus another $90). I am beyond disappointed. I understand this is their business and they can do what they want BUT when you have regular customers supporting your business and this is the way you treat them, I can no longer support it as it's clear you don't want nor appreciate my business. I will definitely not recommend Skylar anymore. What a shame.

Because she has experience even in New York fashion, she makes suggestions on the pleats or darts or any other requests I have, and she has even worked in the design industry in New York. She really is the best I've been to for all things fabric, and she does it amazingly with the lowest prices. Now, on the prices, she really does have the lowest prices, hemming for $12 instead of $20, for example. But, I will say this building looks rough, but how could she move with these prices? Don't worry about cleanliness, it smells fresh, even with the vape/tobacco store next door, my clothes are always clean when I get them. Try her with your seamstress needs, you'll be thrilled!

The wonderful lady who is the owner fitted them and resized them to tailor them perfect and saved those dresses for me so I didn't have to give them away or part with them. She was wonderful. It took her a couple of fittings to get them right, but that was ok. I was very pleased with her work and just so thankful to her that she saved me from having to part with some special dresses or to have to sell them or give them away and that I paid a lot for and were special to me. I highly recommend her for tailoring of your clothes, so save them and take them to her!
