I would recommend, to be safe and have more comfort, take the day after off surgery and just relax.

I had Lasik with Dr. Neil Wills in February 2001, fifteen years ago, and PRK in my left eye in…read more2011. Both surgeries yielded results that surpassed my expectations. However, it wasn't until recently, when I had a serious problem, that I realized just how lucky I was to have chosen Dr. Wills so long ago to be my Lasik doctor. Since November 2015, Dr. Wills has been treating me for a very severe case of "in- growth" under my Lasik flap resulting from a cat scratch to my left eye and almost two years of uncontrolled growth. The in-growth had spread across my cornea resulting in astigmatism and extreme dry eyes. Dr. Wills was under no obligation to take my case and could have easily referred me to another doctor. Fortunately for me, Dr. Wills agreed to help me because the in-growth covering my cornea was significant. He knew his experience made him uniquely qualified to successfully perform the surgery I needed. Dr. Wills ended up performing two surgeries on my eye to "scrape" the in-growth from my cornea. This required an incision to lift the flap, scrape away the in-growth, and place a protective contact lens over my eye. Dr. Wills is such a skilled and experienced surgeon that, unlike many other surgeons, he did not have to use sutures to secure the flap. After the second surgery, Dr. Wills had to irrigate my eye twice to wash away new in-growth that was returning. Since that time, I have had three appointments with Dr. Wills and, so far, the in-growth has not come back. My eyes are no longer dry and my vision has vastly improved. Dr. Wills performed the surgeries, the irrigations and all the exams as a "follow-up" procedure to the original Lasik surgery and never charged me one penny. By the time I had my first appointment with Dr. Wills I had already been seen by several doctors who could not help me. Right after the cat scratch, I was seen by a doctor who prescribed antibiotics. After a few days, the injury seemed to heal and I frankly didn't think any more about it. As time went on and my eyes became increasingly dry and my sight blurred, I went to an optometrist for prescription glasses. The optometrist told me I had scar tissue around the Lasik flap. He couldn't help me. From there, I went to an ophthalmologist who, after two appointments and a dry eye test which turned out negative, couldn't help me either and ultimately referred me back to my original Lasik doctor (Dr. Wills). At this point I was very upset because I didn't know if this condition could be treated, if it would return, and what it might mean for the future of my eyesight. I made an appointment with Dr. Wills who immediately diagnosed my condition, told me what to expect, and laid out a treatment plan. He was comforting, patient and called me after each procedure to see how I was doing. His staff was always friendly and scheduled my next appointment before I left the office. This experience has made me realize that you have to choose not only the most talented ophthalmologist you can find to perform your Lasik surgery but also one that has integrity, cares and feels a responsibility for his patients. You never know when you might really need that superior level of care. I am profoundly grateful that Dr. Wills is my Lasik eye doctor and I would recommend him without hesitation to my family and friends.

What's concerning is that this only happened after I specifically asked them to review my scans again. Had I not pushed for a second review, I genuinely worry they may have proceeded with surgery despite the risks. I also requested a direct explanation from the doctor and never received one. Instead, I had to repeatedly call the office just to get basic answers and speak with someone knowledgeable. My impression is that the process felt far more focused on moving patients through surgery than on patient safety and communication. I would strongly encourage anyone considering a procedure here to ask detailed questions, seek a second opinion, and carefully review whether they are truly a good candidate before moving forward. I also felt the recovery expectations were presented in a way that understated how difficult and lengthy recovery can actually be.

This review is not of the eye doctors, who I'm sure are exceptional at their jobs. My review is of the staff or more specifically the two ladies who answer the phone. It was my very first appointment at this office and I was forced to make a same day cancellation due to my baby waking up sick that morning. I called first thing in the morning to let them know I cannot make it because my child is sick. They told me I had to pay a $50 cancellation fee due to their policy (which I understand). I explained that I am a new patient and was not aware of their cancellation policy. I also asked if they can make an exception as I am a new patient and was not aware of their policy. They denied my request, which was also fine. However, the ladies were Extremely rude in their tone and the way they spoke to me. I was hung up on and had to call back to which a different lady picked up the phone and was equally (if not more) rude to me. It was very shocking that such a well established place would hire blatantly disrespectful people like that. I have never been treated in such a degrading way in my life by a doctors office. I highly suggest finding a different place if you are looking for an eye doctor.
