I visited this office for an annual eye exam and to get glasses on August 27 and I was told I have 90 days to get a contact lens exam if I was interested. I scheduled a visit for a contact lens exam and an employee calls to tell me it's been past 90 days, which it has not and I would have to repeat my eye exam from August, in addition to the contact lens examination. My initial visit was ok, the optometrist and other staff members I interacted with were pleasant , I will say that I don't think they have the best selection of eyewear. You have to park in the surrounding neighborhood but it's normally easy to find a spot. Based on the issue with my contact lens exam, I am hesitant on returning. read more

We brought our daughter here because they were listed as accepting United Healthcare, but when we arrived, we were told they only take United Healthcare Medical, not Vision. What kind of sense does that even make? We spoke on the phone days before, which would have been a great time to have that conversation. We told the person on the phone what we had. It wasn't a mystery that could only be unraveled in person. Beyond that unnecessary complication, however, the person working the counter when we came in was almost comically rude. When we asked how much the exam would cost without insurance, we were told $240, but the condescending little smirk he gave us was free, I guess. We have been customers/clients/patients for years and while the doctors and eyewear practitioners are very pleasant, the office staff and atmosphere have changed and we don't find it as warm and friendly as it used to be. You're immediately blocked by a kiosk preventing you from even entering the room unless you stand there answering a series of questions, most of which are redundant if you've already completed all the paperwork online. The office is in a clearly RETAIL location as it's right on Mt. Vernon Avenue, with a big picture window decorated for the seasons and yet the attitude inside is that this is a doctor's office and they don't appreciate walk ins. I have never been to an eye doctor as an adult, but have been noticing some distance vision issues, so I made an appointment with Dr. Garg. She was very professional and prompt. I ended up with a light prescription for glasses. Having never worn glasses before, I have no frame (pun intended) of reference on price point. I asked Elizabeth, the woman helping me look at frames, to find something on the budget friendly side, as I do not have vision insurance. She tsk-tsk'ed me for not having vision insurance (why would I? I didn't wear glasses...) and proceeded to pull several frames which were higher than what I wanted to spend. I also told her that I worked somewhere very conservative, and I needed glasses to match, to which she told me "that will likely change because Amazon is coming - DC is so stuffy and they'll force us to be casual." Ok, well, I still want and need a conservative pair of frames now. I should have taken my Rx and gone elsewhere to get frames, but decided just to make the best of being there since I was already there. I do like supporting local Del Ray businesses, so I will likely be back to see the doctor, but may shop elsewhere for frames in the future. read more

Prices inflated "because our customers have insurance" While this business has a nice selection of frames & helpful staff, I remarked that their prices are far higher than many other places for the exact frames. A helpful staff member said their prices are higher "because most of our customers have insurance". In my view, this policy and practice cheats both their customers and the insurance companies. I am not talking about minor price inflation for eyeglass frames---I am talking about pricing that is $75-$200 and more for the same brand/model of eyewear sold elsewhere. Eye2eye takes VSP and other insurance, but it is really a scam to justify charging more for eyeglass frames than many other providers because your customers have insurance. This business is not located in a high rent district that might justify higher pricing. Customers should look elsewhere for an honest eyewear provider. read more

I spent maybe 15 minutes deciding on what frame to purchase because thankfully, Granville ( in all his wisdom) hand fed me my perfect frames. Over the last several years I have been going here I consistently have problems with mistakes on my prescriptions, glasses, and billing. Instead of taking ownership, the office staff results to word smithing and finger pointing. In addition to the office staff's incompetence, the up sell of glasses is disgusting - I guess whatever it takes to get that dollar. I had so many issues with the last pair of glasses I purchased they needed to be sent back several times. First time the prescription didn't suit the frame, second time they were damaged, third time they had the wrong prescription. I have found the interaction with the staff so despicable, I left the glasses there and won't be going back for a fourth time. That's right, I think so poorly of this establishment I prefer to never go back than to pick up something I've paid for. I just can't justify wasting anymore time on garbage. read more

Their website explicitly states that they participate in InfantSEE, a public health program that provides free eye exams to children between 6 and 12 months of age. I called and tried to schedule an appointment for my child and was told they do not actually participate in the program and don't even see children under 3, regardless of what their website says. A great experience from start to finish. I came to Eye 2 Eye because it's a stone's throw from my house and I had left my former doctor's office due to an abysmal staff. I could not have been happier! I was taken in on time by Nick, who was professional and friendly as he administered a series of tests. Dr. Adamopolous was competent, genuine, and thorough. I did not get that "roll 'em in, roll 'em out" feeling I have gotten elsewhere. She answered a few questions I had patiently and in detail, a fact I appreciated very much. She took time with me. Next came ordering new glasses, which I was dreading. I braced myself for the inevitable push for a more expensive pair. But Elizabeth, who helped me, did nothing of the sort. She suggested a few frames akin to what I already had and liked, and tried out a few new looks, but all of her suggestions were reasonably priced, and the one I chose (her suggestion) was actually less than the one I had picked myself. She was helpful, but not pushy at all. She even emailed me my prescription and my receipt as I sat there! Highly recommend this practice! Please don't change, guys! read more

Never go here. They charge a bogus $85 for a 'contact lens fitting fee.' However, the doctor was not present and this fitting fee is unnecessary. The saleswoman lied about the prices of the glasses. They stack hidden fees on top of the cost of each glasses. The store prevented me from getting an emergency renewal of contact lens. They blocked my order of 30-day supply of contacts from Walgreens 3x, after saying twice that they would allow me to use my prescription to order lens. This has caused a huge inconvenience for me and is a safety issue, as I do not have any replacement lens to wear. Despite what eye2eye believes, I am entitled to purchase contact lens wherever I want. They cannot block me from buying new contacts from another provider. However, eye2eye and Dr. Doan have gone out of their way to block me from buying more contact lens from a different store. They also lied to me about calling Walgreens and allowing me to buy 30 days worth when they had cancelled the order. Their sales associate, Amanda, called me and tried to discourage me from shopping at Walgreens. She said that eye2eye's price for a single box of contact lens was only $2 more than Walgreens' price of $34. I pointed out to Amanda that I was purchasing from Walgreens because of convenience. I do not live or work near eye2eye and cannot visit the store during their hours. After this, she said that would call Walgreens and allow them to fill my prescription. However, eye2eye Optometry cancelled the following orders from Walgreens: '682 '349 '677 '086 I would never recommend eye2eye Optometry Center. Do not shop here. A very unpleasant experience- I will not be back. If you're willing to pay about $200 for a contact lens exam (eye glasses exam not included), this is your place. Let me start off by saying that I came here a few years ago for an eye allergy issue and the optometrist I saw was nice, I had a good experience, and she recommended I switch contact lens brands, which fixed my issue. Flash forward to present day. I scheduled an appointment for a Saturday via phone with a very friendly and patient receptionist (I believe his name was Ariel) who called me back every time my phone lost reception. When he broke down the cost for just a contact lens exam, it was very pricey, but I wanted to go somewhere good. Here is a price breakdown: $40 for refraction $35 copay $95 contact lens exam =$170 contact lens exam appointment I asked if I could get my glasses exam done too, but they told me that is an additional cost. I showed up for my appointment and the Saturday receptionist (not sure what her name is) was busy rudely (see: curt, abrupt, and dismissive) telling a customer via phone that Eye2eye does not take their insurance. Meanwhile, she instructed me to sign two forms . Page 1 said there was a $40 refraction fee. Page 2 broke down the cost of a contact lens exam based on your eye (regular, astigmatism,etc). For new patients, the cost was an extra $20 per exam. I signed the forms and asked the receptionist if she could tell me what my final cost would be. She gave me the following breakdown: $40 for refraction $35 copay $115 NEW PATIENT contact lens exam =$190 contact lens exam appointment I told her I was not a new patient and she said that I was going to be charged as one since I had never had a contact lens exam there before. There was some back and forth discussion about how I had been there before for a contact issue, it didn't count by their new patient standards, etc. I expressed my frustration but she was inflexible on the issue. I paid the $25 cancellation fee and left- I was shocked that Eye2eye was unwilling to bend on a $20 new patient fee with their already expensive prices and my lack of "new patient" status. I'm going to Americas Best where a contact lens exam and eye glass exam totals $85. I've been there before, it's not as nice, but they get the job done. Eye2eye: I hope you buy yourselves something nice with that $25 cancellation fee - you're obviously willing to lose customers for less than that. read more

Wanted to get a contact lens prescription so I called asking about the price. Told me it would be $115, which sounded great. After I took off work, cancelled an appointment with my old eye doctor, and got in the door, they explained that it would actually cost over $200, way more expensive than the appointment I had just cancelled. Infuriated by the experience! Update (one to three stars): They later apologized for the misunderstanding and gave me three pairs of lenses free. The Dr. was good other than that it was upsetting. They had me do a contact examine even though they knew I already had one with a previous Dr (so I would not need another to get contacts), then charged me $100 for it on top of my eye exam, without mentioning it at all during the consultation. This place is HANDS DOWN the best optical place in the entire DMV area! I've used so many different eye doctors throughout the years and there is not a single doctor with more tact, professionalism, and skill than the doctors at this place. So often you encounter a doctor who's ego gets in the way of the proper treatment; that is absolutely NOT the case here. These doctors treat every client like family, and spend time listening to what's 'really' going on. I've been coming here for 3 years now. It's always easy to make an appointment. The front desk gal has excellent phone presence, "squeezes" me in when needed, and is always ready to help with my many insurance questions. The stylist are also top notch! I've never been to a place that took as much time and energy helping me choose the perfect pair of glasses. It's obvious they're skilled at their profession. They take into consideration the shape of your face, your complexion, your eye color, the type of work that you do, and even down to whether you change your hair color often. I love the individualized service here and I've never had so much fun shopping for glasses! Plus, they always have the hippest music playing! The selection of frames is also great. I am always willing to spend a little more if it means better service and better products. If you want cheap, go to one of those stores in the mall and get crappy service with generic styles. No thank you! I've had my sunglasses for 3 years now with no trouble and a whole lot of compliments. The staff is so willing to do complimentary re-fittings as well. Eye2Eye is unmatchable in its field. The service is excellent and the experience is phenomenal. These folks are eager to help you and any way possible. I have been going to Dr. Adamopoulous for years because she's professional, friendly and thorough. I recently went in expecting to see her the day before Thanksgiving which was the appointment they set for me and my two sons. I did not have a good experience. The other doctor us...I don't remember her name...that's funny because, I can easily remember Dr. Adamopoulous' name, which is not all that easy. Anyway my family was seen by a thin, tall, Asian lady. She acted hurried, unhappy that she was working on Thanksgiving eve, and as if she was bothered to explain and answer any questions for me. She simply acted as if she had an attitude and was frustrated, and the patients/customers received the brunt of her ill-feelings. She and I went back and forth for a while over what, me, (the customer would or should be buying), as it had been a while since I had seen Dr. Adamopoulous. I kept insisting that they should have all my records on file, and finally I offered to go get my old glasses from the car which she ignored...then as we were finally finishing, you guessed it, she asked me to go to the car and get the old glasses. Now, here's the kicker, with insurance for my son and the discount program I learned there that day, that I ONLY had a discount plan for myself, the cost was over $800.00. I sent them all of our insurance information by email well in advance to ensure they had all the information and that we were indeed insured. Somebody tell me if you're taking attitude when spending that kind of money, and surprised on the spot, that you're not insured and got to cough up REAL money! I will continue to go to Dr. Adamopoulous, but I will ALWAYS request to see ONLY Dr. Adamopoulous. The other doctor presented poor doctor/patient/customer services skills, and I will not be subjected further to her snide demeanor for a cost. read more

Docking an extra star for today's experience that consisted of them telling me repeatedly that I am not covered...then me telling them to call the insurance number they have to confirm coverage. Which they did. And I am covered. No apologies for the error and wasted time on their part. I asked for them to measure my pupil distance .. Which the dr said they could do at the front. May, the rude front desk staffer, told me that if I was not getting glasses from them, they would only do it for an additional fee of $45. Despite the dr saying it could get done easily. Needless to say, I walked out without ordering glasses, contacts, or paying any extra fees. Fool me twice, shame on me. I will not be returning to eye2eye. read more

I had to get a basic eye exam for a new prescription. The doctor and the front desk were great and very friendly. The doctor was extremely nice and pleasant. The reason for the 3 stars and not 5 stars were due to the staff trying to sell me frames/lenses. I do not have terrible eye issues so I was going to buy cheaper frames online. I only need them for driving so there was no need to buy a $400 dollar pair of glasses. They went over the my options with my insurance and I kindly told them I would probably go to warby parker to get a cheaper pair. The older, bald, gentleman (who was not assisting me but sitting next to his counter part) chimed in and stated "well if you don't mind the quality of the frame." It wasn't in a helpful manner but more of a condescending comment because I was not going to buy glasses from them. I felt uncomfortable like I was some cheap customer let alone he was not the salesperson assisting me. Besides that, the rest of the staff was fantastic but because of that experience, I am not sure I will return. read more

I went to Eye2Eye for prescription sunglasses because they carried the brand that I was interested in, Costa. I ended up having a very positive experience. First, I appreciated their appointment system and other precautions such as temperature checks in light of Covid safety concerns. I dealt with Jovani for my sales concerns. He was knowledgeable about various options (different materials such as trivex vs. polyester, different features such as polarized vs. tinted w/coatings, etc.) and very receptive to what I told him my priorities were for the glasses. When I came for my second appointment, he had pre selected a wide range of potential frames for me that all would roughly fit my face and accommodate my prescription, a real time saver! After we talked through all the nuances of my order with regard to insurance benefits, options, cost, etc., I placed my order. Unfortunately, after I spoke with my ophthalmologist later that afternoon, she recommended that I change the lens material to potentially help offset vision problems I have from dry eyes and glaucoma. I called Jovani back the next day to ask if I could change the parameters of the order. He was very accommodating and understanding and we had everything corrected and on track in short order. In an age when excellent customer service is scarce, Jovani and eye2eye shines. High marks! read more

I am so glad I found Dr. Adamopoulos! She is a great doctor and I plan to see her every year from now on! I had an annual eye exam with her recently and she was so friendly, easy to talk to, and very knowledgeable about her field. Her technician Amanda was great too. She was friendly, chatty and definitely knew what she was doing. I also love the location of the office, which is within walking distance from the Braddock Rd Metro Station. However, I took a star off for my experience with the sales staff when I was selecting a frame. It wasn't a bad experience by any means, but I felt rushed to make a decision. The sales girl definitely had lots of suggestions, but I felt like I needed some breathing room. Additionally, I wasn't super thrilled that many of the frames cost $300 or more. Later I asked to see frames that were within the price range that my insurance would cover, so she ended up showing me about 5 different frames that were within or close to the price range. Definitely wished I had more selection in the lower price range, but thankfully I found a pair that was a winner. The style was being discontinued, which is why it ended up in my preferred price range. Anyway, I'll go back in in about a week to pick up my glasses, so we'll see how that goes and I'll provide any updates here if needed. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dr. A. You may just want to bring your prescription elsewhere if the frames are not in your preferred price range. read more

Dr. Adamopolous and her staff, particularly Elizabeth and Grantham, are simply excellent. I wear glasses constantly and have had my check ups, frames and contacts all purchased at Eye2Eye over the last 2 years and now won't go elsewhere. I find the staff extremely knowledgable, welcoming, and experts in their field. The selection of frames is simply wonderful. I've gotten so many compliments on my frames that I've referred everyone I know to Eye2Eye. They are excellent consultants on "what looks good" on me, which is important, given how expensive prescription eyewear is. However, I feel that awesome frames are worth it -- they're a fashion statement and it's worth buying fabulous ones, as they are just about the first thing people notice when you wear glasses. Why waste time not being thrilled with your frames? Elizabeth and Grantham have given me excellent advice, and have even taken the time to call me when "new" frames come in via trunk shows. I find it important to support local Del Ray businesses, but even if Eye2Eye weren't close to home, I'd still go there anyway. The staff treat me like family and are excellent opticians. I can't recommend them highly enough. Don't waste time going elsewhere. As a local resident, I really wanted to like this optometry shop. It would have been wonderful to have a great one nearby, and I really like to support women-owned businesses. I saw both Dr. Adamapoulos (initial visit) and Dr. Doan (follow-up visit). I was trying out a new brand of daily lenses, after a friend of mine told me how much she loved them. Dr. Adamapoulos was great during the exam, explaining to me the changes in my vision that had occurred since my last eye exam. Unfortunately, the lenses did not work for me during the trial period. They fell out of my eyes at inopportune moments. Once, I had to drive home on one contact, which was really not safe. I was not used to having to carry back-up pairs, as my previous lenses never fell out. When I saw Dr. Doan, I asked her about why the lenses fell out. She told me that they fit great according to what she could see, so they really shouldn't fall out on a regular basis. That was not my experience, so I decided not to purchase the daily lenses. I told the salesperson that I was not going to purchase the daily lenses, but she handed me a prescription for them anyway. I did not know that at first. It was only when I went to another optometrist to try to order my old brand of contact lenses that I was told I had the wrong prescription. I had to call eye2eye and have them write out another prescription. Once I said that I had decided not to purchase the daily lenses, the salesperson seemed to lose all interest in being helpful to me. I tried looking for glasses, but their selection is small, and I did not find any I really liked. The eye exam for contact lenses also cost about three times what I'd previously paid with a very competent optometrist. The "base" exam was about $200, with an additional $85 charge for "contact lens fitting." While Dr. Adamapoulos was great, so was the previous optometrist I saw. The overall sense I got was that the primary goal of the office was to sell higher-priced items. I did not get the sense they were interested in helping their patients find what worked best for them. I really liked Dr. Adamapoulos, but I will not go back to eye2eye. read more

My first time using this optometry center; great experience. The optometrist, Dr. Adamopoulos, was thorough and answered all my questions. Elizabeth helped to select everything for my glasses and was well versed with what my particular insurance covers. This pair of glasses is perfect for me...no issues with the fitting or the prescription. The only issue that may be off-putting to some people is the reception staff. They are a bit curt and rush-y; however, they kept my lunch time appointment on schedule and I was thankful for that. Also, I have great eye insurance and I wouldn't necessarily use the optometrist for other eye issues, like conjunctivitis, so even though the receptionist pushed for my health insurance information, I just made it clear that I did not want my health insurance to be used for any part of my eye appointment. I also wanted to check whether any of the optometrists are covered on my health insurance plan before providing them with my information. Everybody's insurance is different. They honored my request. Bottom line: I will use them again and I do highly recommend this place. read more

I like to patronize local businesses whenever possible, so when it was time for an eye exam I searched for an optometrist around Del Ray and lo and behold, found eye2eye. Dr. Adamopoulos was very nice and pleasant. My problem, however, was that she insisted on prescribing me a new brand of contacts that she swore I would find so much more comfortable - even though I'd been wearing the same brand for years without a problem. I found out later that these new lenses are literally double the cost of my old ones, and actually found them less comfortable so I switched back to the old ones within months. She also recommended a much pricer brand of contact solution. Again, I could not tell the difference and switched back. I was not crazy about the frame shopping experience either. As someone else mentions, the tech who is helping you will go and select some for you to try. When I asked if I could just go look for myself, I was told no, that she had brought over everything in the style she thought I wanted. read more

I have been a patient here for 3 years and have always been pleased until yesterday. Yesterday I went in for my annual eye exam. I had an early morning appointment and was not taken back to the room where they do the blow air in your eye test until 20 minutes after my appointment start time. I was taken back by a guy in wrinkled clothes who wanted me to tell him any troubles I am having with my eyes, and was asking questions that I would expect of an actual eye doctor, but since I did not know who he was I told him no. He wanted to know how old my glasses were. I told him I did remember when I purchased them, then he continued to press, has it been a month, a year... by this point I was frustrated and again said I did not know and he backed off. Frankly, the 20 minute late, on top of the very unprofessional look of the guy assisting me made me want to walk out at that point, but I continued with my appointment. I was then taken to the exam room where Dr. Adamopolous normally has me read the lines of letters, instead the assistant did all that. Then Dr. Adamopolous came in. She kept saying I was a new patient and asking questions, followed up with "since I have never seen you before." Once my appointment was over I was taken to the area where the glasses are sold and was asked if I wanted to purchase my contact lenses and told the rebate expired today (which was yesterday). I said no that I am already late for work due to my appointment being late and need to go but I would be happy to take the paper with me and call in later once I reviewed the rebate information. I was told that they are not allowed to give out the information unless I purchased the contacts. I told them no. She insisted if I wanted to call and order the contacts I could come and pick up the rebate information. So you want me to think about buying $700 in contacts but you are not willing to share the selling point information with me, until I agree to do so? No thanks. Long story short, as much as I try to support small businesses, I was very disappointed and will not be back to this office. I can get better service getting my eyes checked at Wal-mart. and as far as the rebate goes, 800-contacts had the rebate info online. It's the same rebate on contacts that acuvue has every year. read more

The words associated with Yelp's two-star rating are "Meh. I've experienced better." Overall, that's my feeling. I would give 5 stars for frame selection, a pleasant surprise for a small neighborhood shop that utilizes every inch of space for exams, fitting and showcasing glasses. I also found the staff uniformly pleasant and helpful. But for prices and quality control, I was far less impressed. After a friend raved about the store, I took my new prescription from my opthalmologist in, requesting new lens for a frame I owned. Even with a courtesy "discount", the high quality lens + transitions, trifocals, etc., exceeded the price I subsequently paid for a similar pair of glasses I had updated locally by well over $100. But my real concern was I twice had to have the lens redone: the first time because my vision was blurred when I tried them on (one lens was upside down, as I understood the problem); the second was while I paid for transitions, the lens were not treated with this feature. I did not catch this until I was outside in the blistering sun and realized I had no protection from the harsh rays. I am not sure why the staff did not notice this prior to fitting me - does anyone review the finished glasses to make sure they match the prescription? I have been wearing eyeglasses for over 25 years and have never had this problem before. My husband brought two pairs of glasses in to get new lens as well and had no issues other than the price, which he found out later would also have been cheaper if he had returned them to the store where he originally purchased them (NYC.) I was hoping this would be my new go-to eyeglass source, and was seriously tempted to splurge on new frames, but the prices seems out of line for Del Ray, and the lack of attention to detail and quality is disappointing. I did appreciate a follow-up note and gift card but I am not convinced this store is right for me. read more

The doctors and other staff are all wonderful. I had been going to America's Best for about 2 years and always thought my prescription was a little off and my contacts would sometimes not stay in place. Dr. Pham at Eye 2 Eye said my prescription was off and gave me a new prescription and I haven't had any problems since. Their frames and contacts are a little pricey compared to other places, but I'm ok with that. I usually get as much as I can from Eye 2 Eye that my insurance will cover and then order contacts online. read more

I was looking for a local optometrist and I'm glad I came here. My appointment was timely and Dr. Pham and staff was nice. I chose to go with a boutique office versus a chain because I was in the market for some unique frames. Humayun was the technician who helped me find exactly what I was looking for! He was very helpful and thoughtful to my wants and found some Marc Jacobs frames that are just awesome. The prices are a bit steep here but my insurance and the eye2eye insurance discount made my purchase very affordable considering I need hi-index lenses as well. read more

Am able to walk from metro, besides that I would go to more better competitive locations that bend over backwards to satisfy you. Dr. Dora is not the best eye doctor out there. Dislike how they try to fit the customer to their business model. Should be the other way around. Listen to a reasonable customer and offer best advice and Options that best fit their needs. Goal is not to keep them coming through your doors as often as possible, so you can bill their insurance more frequantly. This place vibes does not ring well. read more

I went to eye2eye because it was in my network. I really can't afford large doctor bills right now and my insurance covered all but $10. I had read a previous review about the "contact lens fitting" but figured I'd just avoid it. Dr. Doan was really nice, that's about the only positive thing with this place. After the exam, she said that my prescription (that I'd had for 2.5 years) had not changed. She took me into a room, gave me a pair of contacts, the same prescription and brand I had with me, and took me back into the exam room to check my eyes and dilate them. When I went to pay, I was charged the $10 PLUS a contact lens fitting fee of $95. I was furious. I've been wearing the same brand of contacts for 11 YEARS and my prescription didn't change. Why I needed a "contact lens fitting" that cost me $95 was beyond me. A lady that was paying next to me was also upset with the same situation. I'd recommend going elsewhere if you want to avoid this ridiculous and steep charge. read more
