After searching for a month for stone to use in my powder room and kitchen, I was so pleased when I…read morewent to Hard Rock Tile in Semmes. They had a Cristallo stone that was perfect for what I wanted. The sales girl was very pleasant, but it was downhill from there. The guys used for measuring and installing, etc were rarely there when they said they would be. When the guy finally came to measure for my kitchen island and powder room, he failed to listen to what I needed. Instead, of including the measurement for my powder room in determining how much of the slab I needed, he measured what I needed for the island and the top of my dishwasherf, which was across the room... not even part of that island. Plus, he had not included the overhang in his measurement. It was totally off. It is a miracle that the contractor who was doing my kitchen is the one who realized it. Otherwise, it would have been even worse than it was. When the time came to install, the Cristallo stone had been cut for the dishwasher area and not the powder room. There was nothing for the powder room. I couldn't believe it. The additional stone had been used for the top of my dishwasher instead, and there was an implication that I should pay for that. I refused, and it was dropped, but I could tell they were not happy. Why should I have to pay for their mistake? Then, they had to find a stone that could be used for the powder room, but they didn't seem happy about that either.
I also used a different stone in my pantry where I had a sink. When they installed that tile, they put the sink in and cut the hole for the faucet WITHOUT seeing the faucet. Given that it was a very small sink, I specifically asked them shouldn't I wait for the faucet to be there to see the distance it extended over the sink, but that was not accounted for. When the faucet came in, it was too big, and I had to change what I wanted to use. It was a constant hassle. I had full intention of writing a review to state how incompetent the measuring and installation service was. They were off on the measurements, they didn't listen to what I needed, and they expected me to accept the areas that were not pleasing to me. There were several different installers, so it was confusing when I voiced that i didn't like this or that.
Now, here we are months later, and I had not written a review yet. However, I had a contractor here to look at my kitchen cabinet drawers, and he was shocked to see that there is NO support underneath the stone. There is a gap between the stone and the top of the tile, which I assume will make the stone very vulnerable. Cristallo is beautiful, but it is brittle, and this is a very large island. If t will sag or crack without the proper support. I'm sure they would never admit to their not giving the proper support when it was installed. Overall, Hard Rock has beautiful tile and stone, but I would not do business with them every again. My advice is look elsewhere.
