The folks there are very knowledgable and helpful. I've lived here all my life and never knew this shop existed. So happy this place is still around, I'll definitely be coming back for more fabrics.

I was making pants for the first time and they were different colors, so the materials had to work well together as far as weight and appearance. This is a family-owned, Black-owned, women-owned, small business in the Bronx and they don't stop at just offering fabric, trimmings and tailoring. They also host sewing camps for kids and adults. They have various types of machines thta you cna come in to try out and see what might work for you. The prices of their fabrics are reasonable. I did purchase some shears that I was able to find for less money elsewhere, and I was able to return them in exchange for store credit. This policy did not bother me because I plan to return for more fabric, as our cosplay is quickly becoming an annual tradition, but be advised that you will get store credit in lieu of a full refund. Owners, Clarissa and Nadine, are very knowledgeable and a wealth of tips and suggestions. If you're just starting our, they are perfect to answer any questions you may have. I'm fairly new and went in not know what I could do. I basically just explained my dilemma and was directed to the best fabric for what I wanted to construct. It was the first time I ever made pants, two-toned no less, and they came out amazing. When I visited, I had my kiddo with me and she was gifted with some scrap fabric and an elastic band, and a quick tutorial to construct a simple scrunchie. She was super ecstatic and I hope she takes to sewing as I have. I will definitely be regularly visiting for my cosplay construction needs.

This was our second stop. It's located in the garment district in an unassuming building on the 5th floor. Not really knowing what to expect, I was floored when we walked in. Well lit, SUPER ORGANIZED, a filled to the brim with stunning fabric. It is paradise! The prices were very reasonable, especially if you're used to ordering online or in fb groups. Most pieces ranged from 30-50 for 6 yards. The staff may give a little discount if you get multiple pieces. I cannot wait to go back. Today was my first time ever visiting this fabric store and I was not happy with the service at…read moreall. As soon as I walked in, the only store employee who was working at the time named JANE did not greet me at all. She showed poor customer service and was not able to help me with what I needed. When I walked over to where she was standing she failed to greet me again as a customer, and never said anything such as "How May I help you?" Once I finally got Jane's attention she just stared at me...so I proceeded to let her know the reason why I'm visiting the store was to find a beige colored piece of fabric to patch up a mark I had on my coat. The first thing Jane told me was "we don't have that type of material." She didn't bother to look at my garment or offer to assist me in finding something similar. She then proceeded to tell me "you can look around yourself." I almost walked out of the store due to her lack of customer service. I was honestly disgusted by her attitude and how rude she was. Jane, I hope you learn how to have basic customer service skills one day because your service was awful towards me.

Compared to other fabric stores, Bhing Fabrics is much cheaper! Plus the staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable! I recently used some fabric from Bhing Fabrics to make my Sailor D.va cosplay (it's a crossover of Overwatch and Sailor Moon). I wore it to a comic convention last weekend and got a lot of great compliments! If you want a cheap, good selection of fabrics and an awesome staff then Bhing fabrics is the place to go!
