Spending most of my life a little further north, New Brunswick train station was my go to. The parking lots there charge hourly unless you can find street parking or it's Sunday. This being a cheap option, especially since most are still on a hybrid commuting schedule, it may also be an option to not have to get a parking permit, so that's a win! The station is well lit and there is a nice amount of traction during commuting hours which is nice so you don't feel alone. The platform is outside so dress appropriately for the weather.

As the ONLY train station in Princeton Junction, maybe it's time to update my review. Pre-pandemic this station was subject to horrendous overcrowding and grossly inadequate parking for the Wall Street bedroom community money changers that rose pre-dawn for their daily migration into lower Manhattan. Currently, with WFH still lingering and the exit of many financial houses to the tax free climes of Florida, parking is far easier and in true close the barn door after the horses have run off fashion, a new multi-level parking deck is being constructed to accommodate the waning demand. As for the station, I would offer that clubbing and reverie is not what you're here for. A small coffee shop, ticket machines and wooden benches are your VIP amenities and IF (and it's a big if) the trains are on-time it's 60 minutes (more or less) into the bowels of Penn Station. All aboard, or should I just say, bored. Decent and functional snares four stars for the Junction. In any case, it still beats driving by a mile.

    I am a frequent customer of the Crosstown New Brunswick Park & Ride location for Coach USA. I have…read morebeen taking Crosstown for 19 years. I cannot explain how terrible the Crosstown service has been so I will discuss today's situation. I arrived early today for the Friday schedule for Crosstown which leave at 5:20am. However, no bus arrived and there was no one from the dispatch office who took any initiative to help or inform the Crosstown passengers about its whereabouts. Crosstown buses at New Brunswick Park & Ride always come from the same parking lot where we are waiting and yet they always come late or in this case for the 5:20am service not at all. When they come we are subjected to sitting on a very cold bus as well. I'm sure Coach USA will tell us they have certain rules and regulations on how long it takes buses to warm up on cold days however I find it to be all excuses. I know from experience that it's the drivers that are the problem, not the equipment. As for today it was very difficult to stand outside waiting for a bus for a certain time just to assume it wasn't coming. Now as passengers we have to find other ways of heading into New York because the schedule we depend on was not fulfilled. The Crosstowns at East Brunswick Tower Center have better service as we have a warm place to stand separate from the Port Authority passengers and we have a dispatcher there to let us know if there are any issues. In the past to rectify late drivers, a dispatcher from New Brunswick has let us all on the bus without having to give any tickets. Now even though this is all well and good for us passengers, the dispatcher is basically costing the Coach USA company money by having us all ride for free. As a long time customer I have had to endure many bad situations from late drivers, to drivers who do not know how Crosstown services work when they make mistakes such as going to East Brunswick Transportation Center first when it's not Friday, to frigid bus temperatures, to no information at all. We are not allowed to walk into the dispatch office to inquire what's going on. They have told us we are not allowed inside and asked to leave and they have a sign up on the door as well stating it. The ticket booth employee never knows about what's going on with late or lack of buses. So we are left guessing or taking the port authority bus to transfer later at East Brunswick. All in all, we as Crosstown passengers at New Brunswick Park & Ride are beyond upset with the services here. Normally we have a regular driver who is not just on time, he is there before we are supposed to leave and the bus is always warm. I do not know his last name but his first is John. He is very courteous to us Monday-Thursday. However when he is not available we get drivers that are not good at all in customer service. All examples have already been described in this email. I am asking for some sort of change. I am asking for better quality. I am asking for better customer service towards the Crosstown services. Inform drivers and dispatchers of what customers are upset with and make the necessary adjustments needed for consistent service. As we know, the fare will be increased end of March. It is unfair as paying customers to not receive proper and fair service as other lines. If need be I will contact corporate with the same information I have provided today in hopes that it will not fall on deaf ears.

The…read moreMiddletown train station is located in the center of the town and offers express service into Newark and New York (Penn Station). The express trains get into NY in just over an hour. The locals take about 1 hour and 20 minutes. Only the locals stop at Newark Airport. There is lots of parking available but the daily lot just raised its price to $7 per day. Save some money and make sure that you buy your ticket before getting on the train. The ticket vending machines are located on the NY side of the tracks in the center of the platform. The ticket office is open during the week in the mornings. I always feel good about taking the train when it rolls by the Parkway and Turnpike and I see the traffic backed up in the morning. There are always seats available when getting on the train in Middletown. This is not always the case when getting on at either Hazlet or Matawan.
