I still remember my first appointment with her - this was when I first fell in love with South Park and how she did my hair. Jessica listened to exactly what I asked for - natural-looking highlights and a low-maintenance hairstyle. To add icing to the cake, she was warm, friendly, personable and genuinely concerned with her work-product. Years later, I still book only her for my hair appointments. If you have your hair done with her, I recommend that you take the time to enjoy the studio she works in - it's accented by natural lighting and sells quality products that are animal cruelty free. If you are looking for a new stylist, you must consider Jess Reid! She is awesome. I love having good hair, but if you are like me, you know nothing about how to get it or even if that style will REALLY look good on you. She will do what you want, or she will offer you suggestions if you are unsure. If you want tricks, she is happy to share them. Since I do not really do highlights but LOVE a fresh color, I have learned that I can do a toner on my hair to retain the beautiful bright shiny color without damaging my ends. This small tip not only kept the compliments coming to me, but also saved me money and time AND dry ends! I went to her when I needed to buy a new blow dryer and found a professional one suitable for me but also in my price range. I have been going to Jessica ever since she started at Salon on 30th. It was a chance encounter, I was walking around South Park and saw this hip salon and wandered inside. On a fluke, I decided to get a haircut and asked for something dramatically different. Jessica was wiser than I was, and while I claimed I wanted something drastic, she took me gradually into a shorter cut. Menopause can cause irratic decision-making, in case anyone doesn't know that. I can't imagine going to anyone else, even though I've moved to Temecula since that first haircut I would drive the distance to see Jessica. She's creative; technically very very good, and a delight. I've never, ever, had a bad haircut, or color. She takes her time, and is very accomodating with scheduling and creative. I have been seeing Jessica since she graduated hair school. She has taken me from dark brown to a beautiful blond, to another shade of blond, back to brown and then blond again and it looked great and felt great every time. Jessica really listens to what I want and is great at making it happen. I get so many compliments on my hair I am constantly handing out her cards. She is very knowledgable in color and cutting and always helps me to pick out the best cut and color that will flatter me most. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my hair. Jessica is awesome! Since moving to San Diego a few years ago, I have been hair stylist hopping- trying to find the right fit. After my first visit to Jessica (who updated my ombre, eliminating the stubborn brassiness the no-one else could get rid of), as soon as I walked in the door my boyfriend said, " I think you finally found your stylist!" Jessica is the absolute BEST! Whatever you want her for--she can do. To begin, I maintain a short hair cut that needs to be cut just right so that it lays right after I blow dry. I'm also a blonde so getting the perfect, non-brassy blonde isn't easy either. Jes has the skill to rock both the cut and color and I never leave wishing "she would had cut a little bit more back here." On top of that, Jes KILLS updo's! Jes did my hair for my wedding and no joke, my hair made my look. Not only did she nail my 1950's Hollwywood look, she did an amazing job on bridesmaids as well. All different legnths and thickness. AMAZING!!!! I met Jessica a year ago when I first moved to San Diego. I had a great hairstylist in San Francisco and was very nervous to try someone new. A friend referred her to me and her hair looked great so I thought I would give her a try. I have long hair and typically get highlights and lowlights. Jessica made me look like a natural carmel colored blond which is so hard to do with my dark hair. She really listened to what I wanted and made me feel very comfortable with the what we decided on. I love Waylon Salon for many reasons. It is conveniently located, easy parking, beautiful inside, uncluttered and carries gorgeous products.
