The Wildcats are one of the sport's most successful programs, winning eight national championships. Kentucky's eight titles rank second all-time behind UCLA's 11. In addition, at the time of writing this review, among all schools, all-time, Kentucky has: * The most NCAA Division I wins. * The highest NCAA Division I winning percentage. * The most NCAA tournament appearances. * The most NCAA tournament wins. Adolph Rupp was the only UK coach to win multiple national championships at the school. He won their first four in 1948, 1949, 1951, and 1958. Joe B. Hall (Rupp's former assistant), Rick Pitino, Tubby Smith, and John Calipari were UK's other national championship-winning coaches. They won in 1978, 1996, 1998, and 2012, respectively. I remember the Pitino, Smith, and Calipari championships because those occurred during my lifetime and when I was following college basketball. The 1996 Kentucky team blew out my beloved Tim Duncan-led Wake Forest Demon Deacons in the Elite Eight, 83-63. That was only Wake's sixth Elite Eight appearance, first since 1984, and had the Deacs won, they would have returned to the Final Four for the first time since their lone appearance in 1962. Tubby Smith, the coach of the 1998 Kentucky team, played college basketball at High Point University (then High Point College) in my hometown of High Point, North Carolina. Since 2018, Tubby has been the head coach at High Point. Not much needs to be said about Coach Cal as he is one of the preeminent college basketball coaches today. He's become a fixture at the NBA Draft because Kentucky, like the aforementioned blue bloods, simply reload, year after year, with five-star recruits. Many eventually make their way into the NBA. At the start of the latest NBA season (2020-21), Kentucky led all schools with the most number of former players, 31, on opening-night rosters. Duke was next with 26. One game I would like to humbly point out is from December 6, 2020. My alma mater, Georgia Tech, defeated Kentucky (ranked No. 20 at the time), 79-62: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/game?gameId=401255627. :)

I think all members of our kids team were first-timers with indoor this winter. Most had played in…read morevarious outdoor leagues previously, though. We have enjoyed having something soccer-related in the cold season overall. I like also that they now have "free agent" sign-ups, which allows kids to register as individuals, not as a group. Some kids don't have a team yet, so this feels more inclusive. They should perhaps also find a way to have teams check off whether they can take on a free agent player or not. Some may have space for more. The refs have been fair and professional. What is hard to adjust to is how rushed I feel to get our kids on the field, onto our bench, and then immediately rushed off the field the second the final buzzer sounds. They really pack their schedule tight for maximum profit, so even 10 min of warm-up prior to the game is the exception, not the norm. I believe that team managers aren't very forthcoming about whether their kids are recreational or select team players. This results in very skewed matches because some teams are essentially stacked while others are made up of purely recreational players. I'm not sure how that's enjoyable or instructional for these select coaches and players! I'm also not sure how KY Indoor can better vet these teams and correctly place them in appropriate leagues. Our child's comment sums it up: "It's harder than playing our toughest team in outdoor. But it's fun." So I can just hope our kids are learning from playing these stars. Overall I think we still find outdoor to be much more rewarding, but glad with indoor we are getting some soccer in during the long winter hiatus.

The gym has loads of equipment for all different types of training like free weights, treadmills, machines, and is spaced out fairly well. The only downside with the gym is sometimes it will get too busy and there will be a wait time for machines, but there's loads of different variations if you need them, other than that it is amazing. The recreational center has more than the gym itself, it also has exercise class rooms like cycling and zumba, multiple basketball courts, an indoor track, and even a rock climbing wall with staff to help newcomers. Overall this center has something for everyone and I have personally loved my experiences here. I would positively recommend this space to anyone looking to meet new people or just fill time in your day.

It's a great way to get my head off the stresses from school and meet new people who have similar interests to myself. The faculty have all been nice from what I've seen and interacted with. It's mostly college students here at Kentucky. Most of the negative online reviews focus on the gym's layout, which is next to the basketball courts, and I would have to agree that this is probably the gym's weakest point. I don't like that there are two floors to the gym and that it is so crowded. But if you go at the right time, I'm sure it's similar to every gym. Other than that, there aren't many negative things I could say about it. I've enjoyed my experiences so far and plan to keep going to the Johnson Center in the future.

Parts of it seemed a little dated, but it overall looked clean and well-kept (especially the gym and daycare). While running the 5K, the ground appeared well-kept. I did spot a rather hilarious looking concessions trailer, but it didn't seem out of place and did a good job of providing the kind of ambiance I would expect in rural Kentucky. Would run here again!

The weights in the weight room are never, ever, ever sorted into their correctly labeled spots (you can only blame other patrons up to a certain point--then you have to start asking why the staff aren't enforcing a sorting rule or sorting them themselves). 2. The wifi is spotty. 3. When equipment breaks, repairs take forever. One of the selectorized weight machines had a weight that stuck for months and months after I politely mentioned it to staff multiple times. 4. The men's bathroom by the weight room often has a very strong urine smell and the hinge on the stall door is not dependable. And handle on the sink in there has been broken for weeks. 5. The second hand on one of the wall clocks in the weight room is broken, and has been for a long time, which is frustrating if you want to time a lifting rest. (It's a small thing, but it's the kind of thing staff should handle without having to be asked by their customers. Plus, who wants to be "that guy" who asks them to fix their clock? I already asked once--now I'd rather use up my political capital asking about the wifi.) 6. Any time you have to do ANYTHING in the office, it takes forever. Reception and basic bookkeeping tasks move at a snail's pace. Again, all the staff are very nice, and overall things are not bad. However, there are some continual/recurring (and frustrating) problems that appear to be a lack of proper management.
