At first we thought we'd come to the wrong address as it is situated on a residential road and apart from the small sign in the living room window, there is no indication this isn't just another home on the street. After venturing inside we were shown upstairs and given on of the three bedrooms the house has to offer. The woman explained she had converted her home into a bed and breakfast and has plans to expand. Our room had a very homely feel and came with complimentary tea and coffee. Additionally there was a TV in the room which picked up the usual 5 channels There was also clean towels for the both of us and a random selection of books and magazines on the bookshelves. The bathroom was slightly disappointing as it was shared by all residents in the house. There was a bit of a knack to getting the shower to work properly and the bath plug had been completely removed, presumably to prevent anyone from taking a bath? The landlady suggested several places to eat in the area although we discovered that East Ham isn't the most romantic place for an evening out. We picked an Indian restaurant along Barking Road (about a ten minute walk) where meals were all half price, however our meal was interrupted every ten minutes by a passing police car or ambulance with its sirens on full whack. We were impressed though that we were seated, served and had completed our meal, all within 40 minutes of arriving. We did manage to get a peaceful nights sleep though and a varied breakfast was served at the exact time we requested. I doubt if we'd visit it again but I would recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap, friendly place to stay that offers that 'home away from home' feel. Definitely a bargain at £45 for two people.

The breakfast was very good as I could treat myself to any of them, the funny part was when Helena offered me extra toasts and no thanks was my reply". After the days hustle, her neat washroom will cool n refresh your brains. Also it is close to the Peckham train station and has different shops not far away.

When we have family to stay, we usually advise them to stay here as its only 15 minutes away from Brighton and so much nicer than most of the B&Bs in town. Hurstpierpoint itself is a really interesting little town steeped in history so there's plenty of things to keep you occupied. For £75 for a double room including full English breakfast, its a lot better value than a lot of other places. There's a pretty good bus service running into Brighton anyway so it definitely pays to stay a little further out of town!

They provide comfortable, basic accomodation near to Gatwick, plus will drive you to the airport in the morning. They also provide airport parking for around £4 per night. We stayed here for an early morning departure and left at around 5.30 am. They do a breakfast buffet from a more civilised time around 7am but as we were leaving before that they gave us a basket of breakfast containing croissants and jam, plus there were tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The rooms are quite old fashioned but clean and the staff were very nice. If you are leaving for the airport later in the day (I think after 10am) you have to make your own way there, plus we had to get back by ourselves. Cost us around £74 for the night and a weeks parking so worked out at fantastic value compared to the cheapest airport hotels. I would definitely stay here for an early morning departure again.

There is a free parking available in the rear of the hotel with a 24h CCTV security system. There are many restaurants, entertainment and shopping all within walking distance. We stayed in room #2, which was on the first floor (second floor for our American friends!) and had both a double bed and a single bed, as well as a wash basin in the room, a kettle and a TV. This room also has an en-suite bathroom, with bathtub/shower. Julia and Pat Hastings, the owners, are wonderful people, and as you will see if you search for this guest house on the web, everyone agrees that the Hastings can't do enough for you. The breakfasts are awesome: Cereal, fruit, sausages, beans, tomatoes, eggs, mushrooms, hash-browns, toast, tea, coffee, orange juice... the list goes on! As long as you're not leaving at 2am, Julia will make sure breakfast is ready for you on YOUR schedule! Where else would you get that kind of service? Be sure to talk to Pat about his experiences working on the Channel Tunnel! He has some great stories. Would we stay there again? Definitely! Julia and Pat are looking to retire, and to be frank, they deserve the rest, because they work harder to make you feel at home, than your mom does. You have no idea how grateful I am to them to have been given a room for the night. The room was big, bright, clean, comfortable and so welcoming. The owners were even better. My day had been traumatic, but their warm welcome and comfortable room soon put me at ease. The breakfast was outstanding. I shall not soon forget their kindness, and would recommend their B&B to anyone.
