Do not let that deter you from visiting this park, all up and down The Gulf Coast, from Texas to Florida you will find that type of wild life, even on The East Coast all the way up to North Carolina. Nice boardwalk for a stroll with your doggo. I did not get a chance to travel the entire length of the boardwalk because I heard a lot of thunder, the sky was clear, so I left and within ten minutes it rained ( storms are common here, but usually brief, in fact it rains every afternoon in the summer). Pavilions have electric power outlet plug ins, I did not see any restrooms or water faucets, maybe they are inside the civic club building. There is a baseball diamond and backstop at the far end of the park. There is also a circular paved walking track with benches & outdoor fitness equipment. Most of the park is open green space for events & sports. Park is right off of highway, signs for both Stockton Civic Club & Old School Yard Park & parking lot. A shallow stream/ rain water run off run through center of park, which is totally surrounded on almost all sides by the woods. Large water tower at front of park.

Handicapped Accessible restrooms with a push button for the door. At least two or three drinking fountains. Lots of shade from trees, which I love. Benches and picnic tables throughout, some with BBQ pits. A blue building with rainbow painted doors directly in front of the parking lot. Signs advertising free meals for kids & movies in the park directly in front of the blue building. My family, dog, and I enjoyed this park, only issue was someone's dog was running loose no leash or owner, dog appears to live directly across the street from the park. Dog was not vicious, but I had to holler at it to make sure it stayed away from us and my dog. I notice a lot of loose dogs running about near parks here in Mobile, so this is not the first time I have encountered that at a local park. Just be cautious if you are there with pets or children.

This park has…read morea playground, basketball court, bleachers, picnic tables, restroom, & four separate BBQ PITS. The restrooms are clean. No trash or litter anywhere in this park. It was deserted when I came with my dog, I only saw two people, a mail carrier, & a bus driver, both of whom just stopped to use the restroom. This park does not appear busy. The basketball court looks new. There is a gazebo in the center of the park with three picnic tables. The playground has both new and old equipment. Lots of shade from various Long Leaf Pines. Quiet & tranquil. Surrounded on nearly every side by the woods so you can hear the birds. The parking lot is unpaved, was a bit muddy when I came, Alabama gets rain nearly everyday in the summer. Unlike other parks, I saw no electric outlets anywhere. The chain link fence is bent in some areas by the woods, maybe Big Foot did it? Other then those somewhat minor flaws, this is a great park, all the parks in Daphne are great, it is a wonderful community. This is one of the only parks I visited in Daphne that is not on the water.

I went to the beautiful Cathedral in the front of this park and decided to take a stroll around the…read moresquare in the middle of the day. There was a group of black men and a woman harassing me to speak to them and kept beckoning me to go up to them. I ignored them but they kept yelling the whole time that I made the round of the park until I go in my car. And when my family stepped out of the church, then they started yelling and harassing them too. They were yelling things like that I shouldn't be going to church if I don't want to speak to them. It was very unsettling. There should be more police presence in these tourist areas to make sure that people are not being harassed. If it was that unsettling in the middle of the day, I could only imagine at night.

Cathedral Square is a municipal park - It is bordered by the streets of North Claiborne, Dauphin, North Jackson, and Conti. A little history, This space, at one time, was Campo Santo - which was Mobile's Catholic cemetery (18th Century). The area that is now Cathedral Square quickly became a commercial block filled with buildings after the relocation of the cemetery. The buildings were then demolished in 1979 to create a public park facing the Cathedral. The current park and layout have been here for some time now. There were a few people here, as it was starting to warm up quite a bit and it didn't take too long to get pretty hot (really humid). But if you are going to check out the Cathedral - then this is a nice little green space to see it from and get some pretty cool pictures of the Cathedral.
